but they might not be worth the stamina until you're starting to run out of core dungeons.

Okay, first off first time completion grants mythril. Spending that mythril will return more stamina than the raids cost. If you neglect raids because you want to spend more stamina on core dungeons then you are doing it wrong, full stop.

Second, motes are not the main rewards, they are the rewards veteran players are most excited about. U+ raid mastery gives 10 major orbs for just 20 stamina, that is amazing. You just don't hear people talking about it because they already have all the 4* abilities they need.

I'm definitely glad to have a few good white mage bursts, especially a damage dealing one like Garnet's. Maybe I can take on the Reraise and Curada nightmares now. Especially Evrae Altana kept wrecking me really hard with the gazillion statuses it fires at you without giving you any chance to react.

Aren't the status effects other than poison all tied to the adds? With all of the power creep since it was released it should be easy to kill them quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if a well equipped minwu RW could wipe them out in a single use, and if it falls short he has an aoe command to finish the job.

Do be warned that Garnet bsb is summoning, so it would do low damage and lose you three medals. Plus, she has white 4, so no nightmare synergy there. It's a shame, because the ultra cure command would be great for countering nightmare poison breath.

I keep wondering. Is there a Soul Break that works like Divine Guardian except it raises Defense rather than resistance? And if so, does anyone have a friend code I can use to get it as RW?

We're about to get Angeal, whose SSB gives the party high regen and +100% def, plus deals some damage. If it was the hastega you wanted, then I think you're out of luck.

Ultimate Lightning is phyisical, apparently,
It's actually %MaxHP, which usually means both blink and mblink work.
Do blink and magic blink work based on the damage formula? I assumed they worked based on the skill's school (PHY, BLK, WHT, SUM, NAT). Draw Fire, Runic, Retaliate, boss counters, and most other methods of controlling/countering attacks work based on the skill's school.

All those don't work on NATs. Since blink and mblink are only good for 1-3 hits, they decided to let them work on zanzetsukens and megaflares when timed right, but that means that they need to check the damage type (in addition to the usual school check) in order to keep them from working against megaflares and zanzetsukens. And even with both checks, you still get a slight overlap for NAT %hp attacks, as there is no way to tell whether they are thematically physical (e.g. blast punch) or magical (e.g. gravija).

Ultimate Lightning is phyisical, apparently,
It's actually %MaxHP, which usually means both blink and mblink work. You might consider outfitting your entire team with instant ko resist accessories, and not killing any dolls to maximize the chance that calcibrina wastes a turn. Even moderate resist should bring it down to 7% chance of hitting. That's about a 70% chance of missing everyone and a couple major resist accessories will raise it even higher.

Today I took on Omega with a partially unprepared team just to feel out how long stop would last and how quickly Ashe bsb command would deal damage. The result was that two characters with mind boosting rms but no haste managed to lock him down long enough for Edea to kill him practically by herself. His only action was the scripted blind.

OMG! I beat Omega!

I mean, I didn't master it, and Celes was the only character that didn't die, but I don't even care. I only lost out on some upgrade materials anyway. :D

100 5* upgrade materials sell for one million gil. That's an extra 4* reforge you might not otherwise have been able to afford.

Maybe I should just give Faris other abilities than Support abilities, though I'm having a tough time thinking of any useful ones. If she could use Lifesyphon that'd be one thing, but she can't...

TR would be the obvious choice, if you aren't already using it on Zidane. Otherwise, dismissal is always decent filler (except for the very rare immune boss).

Speaking of Y'shtola, her Record Spheres are long overdue. Why doesn't she have any yet?

They mostly add record spheres at the start of an event for that realm. FFXIV gets little love, so Yshtola will have to wait about two more months.

"but craze just use faris or rikku or zidane over yda" okay but i tell you hwat, yda's mind buff means i never got stopped in my many tries (((that i could pull her buff off)))

Mind reduces duration, not success rate. I doubt a single buff got you near the ~1k mind required to make his stop wear off instantly, so that was probably just RNG being weird.

side note: not having combat 4* or white 4* makes me a little bit annoyed at celes...

75 4* motes will get Celes white magic 4* and some stat boosts.

What else was lightning supposed to use in Geryon fight? Drain Strike was taken and her damage wasn't important enough to use Lifesiphon. Leila could have used Thief Revenge (giving Lightning Dismissal) but it's only 4 uses and she wouldn't get 5 hits. =/

The difference between a four hit TR and launch is more than double the difference between launch and lifesiphon, so unless your lifesiphon is poorly honed it should be a clear improvement even before considering the heal + extra soul gauge.

The typical low hones of a 5 star ability is usually only a problem when you can't afford to put a damage skill in the other slot.

"Start every battle confused and with 10% more attack."
Aren't the "extra damage when using weapon type" 10% as well? If so, how on Earth did they think that was even remotely useful?

10% attack works out to 18.7% damage. That's a sizeable increase over the damage rms, and the only cost is that you have to make a mage whack the user.

These days difficult bosses don't have trash waves, the soft attack cap decreases the benefit of attack boosts, and it has to compete with 20% damage boost rms and other awesome stuff. But when it came out, it was a reasonable choice.
