STATUS

Steam has lots of sales. Some developers are grumpy that no customer wants to buy full price and instead just waits for sales.

You're magical to me.

Are you one of those developers?
EDIT: WHOOPS. I meant to post that as a blog.

No, I'm not.

To verify, it was posted in Steam Developers group and several people commented there.

Some developers should deal with it. Some money > zero money.
Price your game accordingly, I guess. ADD LOOT BOXES!

Between Steam, mobile games, and F2P models, the value of a game's price upfront has been devalued greatly in the past, oh, 10 years. The market is a race to the bottom.
I have approximately 60,000 games in my steam & GoG backlog so unless it's going to be a game I am going to play immediately I can wait for a sale

Hell a sale is half the reason I remember to buy a game. "Hey remember super game SONIC ADVENTURE TWO well it is on sale for EIGHTY PERCENT OFF so you can buy it now for TWO DOLLARS" and I'm

(I did beat Sonic's story in SA1 but I want to do more of it before I move on to LIVE AND LEARN)

Sales are the only time games are actually worth what they are asking though
Don't quit your day job for indie dev.
I mean, you either take your two dollars or take nothin at all in this over-saturated market.

But what if my day job is being indie dev?

Pretty much this from the consumer side of things. However, I guess in the developer's case they're probably like, “YOU CHEAP F**KS!” >:(

I’d just be happy if I got any money from making a game…unless the budget spent on it was like over a million dollars to make it or something, lol - then I would be pretty p*ssed. But it is what it is, I guess.
add dlc's into your rpgmaker game, in the form of an npc that gives your a free overpowered item if you have the dlc installed. Don't worry, someone already did this on steam.

Huh?

I do have DLC for Strangers of the Power already.

Besides I wasn't the one who complained, I shared this as an observation as some developers did ask that from Valve.
Well, if it lets more people with relatviely empty wallets enjoy video games then it sounds great to me.

Like, I understand the desire to get as much money as possible out of the game but if the consumer is only willing to buy your game when it's on sale then, uh, guess the market's spoken, my dude.
