UNFURL'S PROFILE

Unfurl Games is a team of 2 - 3 people. This account is managed by Lewis though so all of the comments, status, messages and everything else will be done by him.

We are a very small group and we LOVE to be creative. So we decided why not create a game? This sparked the idea for the first game "The Wedding". Many more games will come from us and we cannot wait to show the world what we've got to share with them.

I (Lewis) love this website and hope to become more interactive with the community!

[RMMV] How to make slopes in caves look better

That looks awesome! I searched for a few hours and I actually couldn't find any good slopes what so ever.

The tile set I'm using doesn't actually come with edge tiles like that (I guess it auto puts it in?). Next time I build a cave with slopes I'll look into mashing a new tile set together to support it and see if I can pull off a similar effect. Thanks everyone!

Edit: I knew you edited it to make it fit better, I meant to say it doesn't come with the edge graphics as it seems to just auto apply it with this MV tile set. There are a few tile pages with edges like that in it however they are grass and sand textured so I'll need to find/create a stone one.

It might be possible, but hard to do using tile mapping. If you make a cliff or something on either side, then place a tree or statue in front of the corner it might look like a slight incline. Otherwise, I would suggest parallax mapping. You making make the ground go up in a V shape and have shirt alongside the path. Also you can make the ground darker and lighter. This would require a tremendous amount of skill on your part though.

That's a really interesting solution. I'm no where near that good sadly so I'll settle with a ladder/rope. I'll keep that idea in mind though as that is interesting.

I think your best bet would be to put in stairs or some other sort of tile that indicates a transferable level of height. I haven't seen a natural slope really pulled off in the engine, or with 2D tiles in general before.

Neither to be honest lol. I mean I could look at adding rope or something and having the player place the rope to climb down. Stairs just look strange in these caves (even though the theme of these caves are bizarre on their own).

[RMMV] How to make slopes in caves look better

Hey guys, I've only just recently had enough free time to get back to work on a project of mine. I created a project and put some images up ready to upload the game. However I need to improve some of my mapping to make look a bit better.

I have no clue how to really solve this issue as there are almost no tutorials on things similar to this online. I am trying to create a slope type feel to this cave, not an actual slope mechanic just an aesthetic.

I should specify that these caves are not typical caves. For context these caves are kind of like 'bubbles' inside of these islands made from vines and roots. There is no soil or beach to these islands (magic plays a roll in this). Think of it like rocky cliffs inside a dome with shallow water below.

(I hope this image shows up).

You can see to the left of the screen there is a sloping path leading down. I was suggested to look at doing a better job at slopes or add stairs and I REALLY want to avoid stairs if I can. How do you make slopes look better?

Keep in mind the rock formation shouldn't look even.

That means Unfurl ist dead and doesn't look aruond his game anymore.

Sorry for not responding, I'm quite far from dead lol. I've been very busy recently and haven't had time to check up on this website in a while. If you want to contact me faster please head over to the facebook page there and leave a message.

There are two endings and a secret ending and I think the youtuber who made the walk-through removed their video sorry.

This game is great, however, the part where you're in the dungeon tryin to get past the aunt is way too frustrating. I understand makin the game interestin, but the odds of you even makin it is way too slim. Besides that, it's great.

Thank you for the feedback!

I have had a lot of people telling me the issues with this section, rather than change the puzzle and have people re-download the game, I created a gif in the Walkthrough section in the description showing you how to get past this part of the game.

I miss working on my projects.

Guess I am going to have to wait till the course is complete or when I get breaks. D:
