I'm really fed up of Final Fantasy at the moment, I'm not looking forward to 13 at all. The main character has been described as a female Cloud Strife...oh goody, can't wait now.

Final Fantasy hit an iceburg at 10-2 and sank at 12 (see what I did thar?).

Quoted for Truth!

Guess the Game!!!

I'm not sure how long it's been, but let's keep this topic going!
I'll post something.

I wonder what this is ::)?

That looks like Steambot Chronicles.

Working Out. Also: Stats. Get off your ass and join in!

Do any of you guys feel like this? Like you can't accurately judge your appearance and weight so you have to regulate what you eat and mathematically determine you must look good rather than just know you do? Or do any of you have eating disorders in general (I noticed at least one person mentioned eating, especially chocolate, to treat depression).

That's me in a nutshell. Even when I'm not pregnant, I pound down the sweets to give myself a boost of that saratonin, which is a chemical that works to boost my mood. I was a depressed mess in high school for more reasons than I can count, many of them I've talked about all ready on the forums here. I think when I was pregnant the first time, 1/3 of my diet was straight sweets: ice cream, chocolate, cookies, whatever I baked, peanut butter... the list goes on.

I have an addiction, I crave chocolate, and when I don't get it, I turn into a deranged woman that wants to burn all the random passerby out the window. No seriously, I have actually said "I'm imagining all the people that walk by on fire" in a really hyper voice. You'd think this would make me into an ADHD like crazy person, but no. I don't get hyper off of sweets. I get hyper without them. There is a name for that condition, but I have no idea what it is.

These days, however, I've been curving it off a bit with fruit. Apples and grapes keep me just as happy as chocolate did when I was in high school, and it doesn't even have saratonin. Instead, it's full of natural sugars! Too bad I eat an entire bag of grapes in a single setting, and a bag of apples *which can be up to a dozen* lasts me about three days. Soooo, I guess I have an eating for depression problem after all.

Protip: Girls never ever want to get hit on or gawked at in the gym. It makes them really mad. They are there to exercise.

THIS IS TRUE. I did take an aerobics class in college, and we were ogled almost everyday. I kinda wanted to punch them all in the face, but when one offered me a donut... I forgot that I was angry and went off to the park with a donut hanging out of my mouth in glee.

Worst sickness thing

Most of you will never have to deal with this, but pregnancy's morning sickness is the worst I've ever had to deal with. Painful nausea that never goes away, but starts as right as you get up? Horrible. Add in throwing up but still craving food like crazy, mood swings you have no control over, and lack of sleep, and you turn into one wreck of a person. Don't worry though, all of that is very worth having a baby. <3 Had me on bedrest for a while last time.

I've had food poisioning before, and that was pretty freakin' bad.

My mother has something called RSD - Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. It's a nervous disease much like MS, but your muscles waste away over time. It makes you hardly able to speak (and when you do, you sound mentally retarded), gives you random twitches, and spreads throughout your body as time passes. It's the worst disease I've ever seen. Her body is wasting away, I've seen pictures of her recently and it looks like I only have half of my mom left. There's no cure for it. Little complaints about constant diarrhea don't really shock me in the least.

DMW RPGmaker?

Well, I'm working on a Dragon Quest fangame, somewhat like Slime Mori Mori or Rocket Slime. I love the idea of great fangames, actually. It's like interactive fanfiction! <3 It's just, like most fanfiction, a good fangame is actually very hard to find. Which is why the expectation bar is set so high.

As for Digimon World - I didn't like any of the games but the first, though I have yet to try the ones on DS yet. I thought the system was great, except how fast the critters had to poop and the low availability of toliets. this would make the virus stat go through the roof, and turn my digimon into a Numemon, which annoyed me after finally getting Coelamon. I loved the battles, I loved the training. It was like a combination Monster Rancher training, with a battle sort of like Pokemon but the digimon were more independant. They weren't just creatures that obeyed, they had real personalities that you had to learn to play around.

If it were like Digimon World I, I would give it a chance, though, kid. Seriously. Patamon and Angemon must be in the game. Those are my only requests.

Honestly, Feld, I like your map. What they say is correct about the pillar, but overall, I think that's a very pretty map.

I wish I had mapping abilities... I lack mapping skills.

A racial and cultural topic!

For example, words like nigger are just that - words. They should be no more insulting than other words that have historical context (like bastard, for example, possibly the worst insult of the middle ages). They are adjectives that were invented specifically for describing a situation and became insults on that absis. Nigger, for example, comes from negro which obviously comes from European words for the colour black. Calling someone black, though, is politically correct whereas nigger isn't when the words derive from the same source. Is it not so unrealistic to believe that, in the future, out "politically correcrt" words could also become insults on the basis that they are accurate descriptions? It's completely retarded and shortsighted to assume they won't (ironically, retard is another word that was at first a perfectly acceptable description but has now become insulting and has had to be been replaced by something more "politically correct").

Like suzi was saying, I too think that the word should just be reduced to that; a word. Not only will that stop the negativity, but the word will lose it's power as well. A word only holds powers depending on how the person who heard it interprets it. This much is true, especially considering that black people aren't the only race who is discriminated against.

However, that is the responsibility of black people to overcome, no matter how much we all think that it should be overcome. That doesn't make it hunky dory to use the word and everything should be okay. Calling someone a name and expecting them to be alright with it is wrong; yes, you can argue that they shouldn't be so sensitive, but it's not right for me to insult the person in the first place.

Also, Fallen, I think you're missing the point when you explained the origin of the word. Sure, it's etymologically correct to say that the word 'nigger' came about as simply a description for someone's skin color, but the fact is it evolved to be one of the most hurtful pejoratives to ever describe a black person. So when a black person hears the word, they don't think 'Oh gee that's just a word that was invented to describe us in the distant past', they think 'Oh, that's the word that they called us on the horrible boat ride over here, while they were whipping us, what they shouted at us as we walked away when the Proclamation set us free, when they didn't let us vote, when they denied us work, when they didn't let our children go to school from theirs, when they hung us from trees, etc'. As a person of color do I think we should get over the word? Yes! But it's not right for someone to use it expecting the other person to get over it.

This requires a type of healing on both sides. The users of the word probably intend to offend by it, not just use it as a joke between friends. The victims need to let the word just slip on by when they hear it. If people weren't so intent on hating on ethnic groups, and the victims weren't so sensitive, I think the whole issue would be dissolved over time. "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me" may not be the best advice in the whole world, but I think more people should be that way.

I don't understand the hatred, really, because I'm not a part of either group. I don't like using the word. I don't like hearing the word, because I know of the hurt that word contains to other people. My ancestors probably did - as my family can be traced back to France, they crossed over and lived in the Southern states. However, they weren't the rich plantation owners most people think about, they were sharecroppers.

And besides, while this may sound offensive as it can get, I'll say it anyway: your ancestors were the ones that had the real abuse. While you carry that strong and rich heritage, none of the black people alive today have actually been a slave. They have had to deal with other pressures, yes, but not slavery.

I have to go to bed so I won't get to reply to the whole thing and other interesting, posts, but

I've always never understood that mindset, and now the name calling feels to me just as name calling. When someone says "ni**er" and someone else gets offended, then I tell them to sit down and shut up, it's just name calling. That's all. It's not because I agree with it, it's because that's all I see it as.

Technically, you're right. But the word 'nigger' (and I'm using it only in a mature, 'educational' context, we're all adults) has a lot of negative connotation to it, attached to a horrible history of segregation, slavery, oppression, and even outright murder.

None of that really exists today for black people like it did before (although racism is very much still alive and well), but the history of the word itself and the weight it carries makes it a lot harder to just dismiss it as 'LOL SHUCKS IT'S JUST NAME CALLING'. It's still a very powerful word and it can be very damaging and destructive. And yes that goes for black people that go 'LOL I RIDE AND DIE FOR MAH NIGGAHS' before anyone brings it up.

But lawsuits over name calling? I find that to be immature. I don't get upset because anyone may call me a cunt. I just laugh at that someone for not being able to find a more creative way to insult me. I don't see why it hurts because I'm not a part of that group, I'll be honest. I've been teased all my life - not for racial stuff because of where I grew up, but for being a female. If I let every single time I've been put down because of something I cannot control get the best of me, I would have thrown myself out a window by now.

It hurts being made fun of for something that is not your choice, and I feel that. When that whole anti-France thing went around my entire town (people said freedom fries instead of french fries - UGH how stupid), some kids found out that my ancestors were French and they actually egged our house and my dad's van. I don't consider myself French, though I will eat their food until I'm blue in the face... *smile* but you see where I'm getting at. Our house wasn't the only one that was hit, either. Now people may understand why I wanted to move out of that place as soon as I was able.

Yes, the n-word causes hurt. There are other words that cause hurt to other races, too. But do you see the Jewish guy next door gettin' all upset over someone making fun of him? What about the Germans being called Krauts? All of these words hurt, too. And if you can't say the n-word, you shouldn't be able to say any negative racial slur, either. It should be treated all or nothing, or wait... there goes freedom of speech right there with just this. That's why I just say to let it slip right off your back and just smile. If someone is so angry on the inside that they will call you names like that, then this person needs education and understanding - and that's just what I feel on the entire subject.

Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/etc. Discussion Thread

No, I can't go on Smogon. Those guys are a complete bunch of asshats dedicated to Pokemon elitism. Not everyone on there, but the vast majority. I stay clear of those guys simply because they do not follow my ethical code about the series. Yes, I'm so into it that I happen to have an ethical code. You could call that elitism to an extent if you wanted, I'm sure.

I do not raise god/legendary Pokemon. I raise WHAT I LIKE, regardless. And I encourage others to do the exact same. If you absolutely love that Darkrai, then please train it. But don't expect anyone to really appriciate you for it. There's nearly 500 Pokemon, and legendaries consist of about I dunno, 30 some odd? Why have such variety if you are only going to look through the top ranked 30-40 critters? No. This isn't right.

I'm more into the game for contests, myself. You know how many Smogon people like to make fun of that? "Oh, you're just a girl, you hate battling..." I've been faced with that whole pre-judgement because I'm a girl thing forever. No, it's not because I'm a girl that I like contests! They are just as strategic as battling, I don't give a flying flop what anyone says about it. The planning is even harder, really, to get the biggest ratings with linking moves and such.

...

I could rant about this stuff for days.

I'll probably get FF13 when it goes for $20-$30 unless it sounds like the next KH2/DoC. They aren't great games, but they're still alright games.

Bingo. I'm not paying full price for an FF anymore unless it's something that really catches me when I first hear about it.
