Stream of consciousness - Of depression and regrets

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling bad, and that recent reviews have gotten you down. I don't know if I can say anything that can cheer you up, but I will say that you inspire me with your work, and that I personally think it would be a real loss if you decided to quit game-making.

I hope you can find a way to hang in there and keep doing what you love doing. Because you deserve to feel better.

Just to be clear

I understand :D

Just to be clear

After playing this a couple of times, I must say that I did find it to be an interesting experience that, despite the simplicity, did in fact get a response from me. I'm curious though: I know you don't want to answer questions about this, but my only question is: Is there an ending aside from just getting a game-over?

However, despite my appreciation for what I played, I can understand a lot of the criticism that this has been drawing. As a developer, I haven't done anything that's supposed to strictly convey something with gameplay like you did here, but I feel like trying to include those who don't understand and make them gain some appreciation of your viewpoint is far more powerful than saying "Most of you won't get this. This is just here for the scant percentage that do get it."

I'm not saying you have to spell out your own feelings in any sort of way. I've seen games that are just as abstract as this and still make the player think, but do a lot more to make the player understand the creator's mindset rather than just hoping that the player's experiences and the creator's just happen to align.

The bottom line is, I feel like games (or whatever you want to call them, as you say this isn't a game) are a great tool for including others in your own experiences, rather than excluding all but a small percentage.

Motivation has increased by 999!

Excellent work, Urano :D

Future projects ( literally )

I vote the portraits, as they look really great, and seeing the Phantasy Star-esce maps you've already made are, in my opinion, excellent already. But it's your choice :D

Best of luck with your eventual sci-fi game! I'm sure it'll be great ^__^

Progress: Swirling Sands and Springsmouth

Thanks a lot, skaiano! :D Unfortunately, that's just a plain stabby-spear she wields, rather than a throw-able harpoon/javelin, which I should totally use in a future game because those are awesome XD

Progress: Swirling Sands and Springsmouth

The old art was just sketches, not yet colored. This unfinished art is closest thing I had done as far as completed artwork for her:

Post-Contest Version

Wow! That's definitely something to look forward to :D More games!

Post-Contest Version

Sounds like these changes fix the only (very small) problems I had with the battles. ^_^ I'll have to do another playthrough and see how it feels :D

The end is near

I feel like you make every moment count, so even if the game is short, it's time well spent. ;)
