Map Designs
As time goes by and you keep working in your game you will naturally be better in several aspects. Including mapping design. If you are not satisfied with your previous maps you can always rework them.
You won't improve your mapping from one day to another. The only advice I can give you is to don't use RTP maps and make parallax mapping instead. You gotta be a damn expert in mapping to create beautiful looking maps with RTP (I've seen a few though). Parallax might more difficult but it's easier to make good looking maps.
Eitherway, as I had alrady said, you need time to improve. You can't get better instantly.

Pom Gets Wi-Fi Review
Wether it's true or not what you say in this review I think it's unfair to destroy him just because it's extremely popular and got nominated for misaos.
Personally I don't like the game and it really makes no sense that it's nominated for some categories (like best soundtrack, da fuq?) but that's just because a lot of people just nominated it on every single category. Infact, most people who nominated pom probably didn't play any other rmn game. It's not fair to hate the game because it's popular. It's like hating FFVII because of the giant hordes of fanboys it has.
BTW, wasn't you the one who posted that polemic review on lunar wish? You like to go crosscurrent don't you :P

Damage Formula Help?
I think the gun should be way weaker than the regular weapon if it's meant to ignore defense. Otherwise you would use it always but against really high defense enemies it will be useful.
You can't make the gun give the same ATK as regular weapons because that would make it way better and you would never use anything outside guns.
