Heya

It's a lie, we all know it's just cabbage Addit. THE JIG IS UP.

Also, welcome tajsodia. Cute avatar!

What are you thinking about? (game development edition)

I gave myself a deadline of August 1st to solidify at least a story summary for my game. I'm struggling right now trying to settle on something I am least partially okay with.

I'm finding it difficult thinking of a good way to suspend disbelief about the whole idea of the hero never losing a battle / being the strongest ever. But maybe it's something I don't need to worry about.

Team Miscellanium... Care to join/help?

You're not going to gather 50 people to collaborate together on a project for free with a creator that has done nothing to establish any credibility whatsoever. Everyone here is already working on their own project, I doubt they would have time or motivation to work on somebody else's, especially on something this grandiose.

Here's what you do:
Learn how to use RPGMaker. Start small and make a sample game. That'll give you an idea of how to do basic animations, and battle scripts, and everything else involved in making a game. There are some pretty great graphics and music pieces floating around, so you don't even need to make them yourself. Being a shut-in is not an excuse. At all. Don't be lazy.

If you don't know how to do something, learn it. It'll take some time to sink in, but everyone starts somewhere. Just keep plugging away at it.

Aether Pulse

Oh wow, it has a Quit Game System? Back in my day, we had to Alt+F4 everything.

What are you jamming to?

One of the most addictive songs ever.

What are you thinking about right now?

I'm two weeks away from my next paycheck, which will finally put me in the position to find a house to rent. Two very long weeks.

Ambivalence and Frustrations: the RPG Maker Tale.

The easiest (which isn't all that easy) way is to get better at spriting.

[Poll] How long have you been with RPG Maker?

YellowSubmarine made an RM2k game called Rescue Reidman around 2001-2002. I had to install the RTP to play it, so I went to Don Miguel's site to grab the program and the rtp. This is around when I first started toying around with RM, I wanted to make a game just like RR. From there, I played Legion Saga, and a Blurred Line, and so on. I never really stuck to any major forums like the lot of you, I was mostly a drifter (KR, PhanX, GamingW, WotM, Skytower, Rpg2k.net, etc..). I left RM around 2008 since I never got anything done. I was never serious about it, I stole maps and resources, I spent more time writing than coding/mapping.

And it turns out, even though I'm here on an RM forum, I still haven't come around to using the program again (despite great consideration). I'm working with rolling out my own engine for my indie game, and I think sadly my RM days are behind me. But the RM community is so amazing, it's hard to truly leave.

I like the messagebox you decided to go with.

Some things that stood out to me:
* The cave looks fairly bare. It might look better if you populate it with something. Maybe some loose rocks, unevenness in the terrain, etc..
* Nitpicky, but you use "Once we" to start two sentences in a row.
