I hope everyone here has subscribed. A very important question.

I would like to screen shot this page for an ict project at school. So basically its just gonna be a screen shot and a few lines saying how easy it is to teach something to oneself in the information age thanks to forums and all the people who are willing to help out.

So do I have all of your permission.

Well on your question about what is the best engine to use,I cannot really answer without being bias,because I never really tried any other engine except Game Maker.
I am content with the engine right now and too lazy to start learning a new one lol.Maybe in the future i'll delve more into other things.

It might be easier to create RPG using RPG Maker,but probably Game Maker is much more flexible.Also since now Game Maker can also support in making HTML5,iOS and Android games,the more reason for me to stick with it.

On your assignment about learning game making in the information age,I started to enter the world of game making in 2009 with Game Maker.I have zero knowledge on game making and never really do any coding in my life.I'm not a programmer and wanted to be a manga artist(still do) but I really wanted to create game based on my comics,so I start learning.

It is true forums are a good place to seek answer to your problem,but one of my main source on learning Game Maker was through YouTube.Usually I only go to the forums when I have very specific question or when I can't find my answer anywhere.You don't need to be a pro to use Game Maker,lol,but you do need to be a pro to create good games(well,duh).

For me it depends on what game you are making,but a linear RPG,we're talking about very straight forward game with no sidequest,choices,or traveling to extra places for an RPG is VERY BORING.The only thing that might make me continue to finish the game is if the storyline was super great,but I would still have a dissatisfied feeling to the game.

It doesn't need to have more than one ending,but choice of words to see different reaction is a great addition,interesting side quest is a good distraction and exploration is a must.

One of the thing that I hate in RPG is that when the towns are poorly design or worse it almost looked the same to the previous town and also when there's nothing new to do at the town.Sometimes people tends to create town just for show or more like a pitstop or an oasis for the players.They just create the town just so the players can restock their items or progress for a main story.No sidequest mission,extra interaction,secret items,place or events.

Of course usually I do not find this problem in commercial games very much but RPG Maker games is a different story.Other than story and gameplay RPG is also about exploration and one of thing that I always can't wait to do in an RPG(commercial only,usually I have low hopes for RPG Maker games)is traveling to a new town and see new places and explore it.
Usually the linear RPG games also have shitty towns cause usually its trying to force people to get with the program and forget about exploration and thus sometimes not a lot of work is done to the town.

But this is just my opinion...
