Description

What is this?
This is a game making event where we partner up in order to create two games per partner!

TWO games?! Are you mad?!
I don't think so? Oh, wait, that was a rhetorical question, right?

Anyway, it's a pretty simple premise. You start a game and work on it for one week. At the end of that week all the games are pooled and then distributed semi-randomly to each other. Then everyone finishes the games they are given over the next week.

Basically, a big swaparoo~

Rules
  • Sign up below. Make sure that you're dedicated for the whole two weeks/both parts of the event.

  • Games must be new and made only for this event.

  • You may use any RM engine. Sorry, while it is a neat idea in theory to use any engine, most people who sign up might not have experience in those engines, limiting the ability to finish the games.

  • If you only have access to a particular RM engine, please note that in the comment section so that I know to account for that when distributing the first half of the games.

  • Also, make sure to include an RTP stand-alone version of the game (and include resources) when passing it over so that your partner is not looking for different files to make it work.

  • When it comes time to submit, for the first half of the game upload the WIP to the event locker (accessed by Submit in the top corner).

  • First halves of games must be in by the time shown under the Details section after you add your time offset in the settings of your account. The Date End reflects this and will be changed when the second halves are handed out.

  • The second halves will be submitable by game page ONLY. Make a game page for your game whenever you like, just remember to update the information when the second creator comes into play.

  • To keep time realistic, aim for each half to have a half-hour of play at the most. This will make an hour-long game, which is pretty decent for 2 weeks. You can go over this amount, but remember that the longer the game, the less chance there is to finish it.

  • In the spirit of the event, don't be a back-seat driver to the second creators. They can take the game where they like - that's half the fun of the event. In fact, let's just say that you keep your fingers out of the game pie after it gets handed over. Make it something of a surprise, eh?

Achievements?
As always, there's badges to consider~
Started in the Middle with You - 30MS - Received at the end of the event for those who started a game and had it completed.
Ended in the Middle with You - 30MS - Received at the end of the event for those who finished a game.
Meshing the Middle with You - 20MS - Given to the game that feels like a concerted effort to create a whole piece.
Mashed in the Middle with You - 20MS - Given to the game that is a mess of mashing together the elements.
Beyond the Middle, it's True - 50MS - Given to the overall best game of the lot, as judged by our panel of select cherry-pickers.

Okay, I'm starting to panic here. I've tried three times to upload, with no success. I think I only have the time for one more try. I hope I don't wind up kicked out after all I've done... >_<

Upload, wait for the page to turn. If it takes forever, go do something else.
Real life decided to interfere so much that my project's only 10 minutes long. Sorry in advance to whoever gets my game, I'm a really lousy dev.
On the bright side, this event allows me to see other people's ways of programming so maybe I can improve!
I had to leave to go visit my father for the last 3 days of march break, so I couldn't work on my game as much as I wanted. At least I have pretty original art. Person who gets my game, I hope you can make it not awful.

It happens to just about everyone here. Don't be hard on yourself. :)

Hope you don't see mine then. I went switch happy (thankfully I only needed a little less than a dozen). Oh! The interior doors are good! If you get mine, take a look at the interior doors. I take pride in my doors.
Whew! Managed to get my game in on time! I had to cut it close there!

Well, this sucks, but I've lost some crucial data from my game. Luckily, the main town is still completed, but I've lost the data for some monsters and the first dungeon. Stupid laptop!

So whoever gets my project, you'll have to create the dungeons yourself. I would remake the first dungeon, but I'm practically out of time.

So, yeah, And right as I was saving my stuff, my laptop decided to derp out on me! I need to remind myself to save often, especially when I'm working gruesomely.

For those who didn't see my post edit earlier, I lost some data because I forgot to save when I was working feverishly, and when I went to save, my computer went crazy, and rebooted itself. So, I lost a bunch of data.

Apologies for anyone who gets my game. I'm doing my best here, I mean, I have schoolwork to deal with on a daily basis!

Logged almost 30 hours in ark instead of really pounding out the game. Still, it's probably 20 minutes+ of play time, just isn't as fancy as I'd like it to be. I do have thee fanciest Fortress on the ark server I'm on though!

Ohhhhhhh the 6th. Not the 7th.

Welp.
Huh, did Libby just add another 12 hours? If that's the case, then I might make some small fixes/edits to the game tomorrow if I get the time.
F*ck! I didn't submit in time! I swear I changed the time on my account. Oh well.
Ah, shoot. It failed to upload again... >_< I'm not too happy about that. Nothing I can do but curse my crappy internet though. I really wanted to participate in an event for a change, but it looks like I've been screwed.
Yeah, my company kept me too busy to get enough done this weekend, so I have to drop from the event.

Dang do you guys have terrible internet connections/oversized games? xD
My game is 18 MB and that is with the extra one. RIP halves that didn't make it. :-( Maybe we could have a revive the dead event sometime in the future.

Both, really. Curse you, MV!
My internet is below-average, but my game was about 200MB, even after compression. First that virus now this. How unlucky of me. Oh well, nothing I can do about it. I'll probably release it as a normal game now that I'm out. Next time I get the chance to enter an event, I will NOT use MV!
Erm... I can't submit and the time of the end of the event
hasn't passed for me. I actually had something to submit... :(

The time says 6:59 PM and it's only 4:52 PM for me.

EDIT: Oh boy, forgot to change my timezone when I moved from Mass to California, great.

EDIT2: Since I'm only technically less than one hour late and it was simply idiocy and not malicious I've uploaded my half here http://www48.zippyshare.com/v/Y2XXpP7h/file.html
(good thing it was only 17mb). If it's not accepted, well whatever it was kind of rushed at the end anyways.
@Subzero - if you can get it hosted elsewhere in an hour, I'll accept it.

@Everyone - congrats so far! We're halfway there! I'll compile a list of who can use what, then do some randomisation. Below this post tell me what engine you used and which ones you can use. Yes, I know some of you stated that before but this way I don't have to go trawling through 25 pages of posts. (Feel free to quote your initial posts saying that if you want.)

Once I've got that info compiled I'll start randomising by engine. In the next day or so you'll get a PM with the game you get to finish. You can start on it as soon as you get that PM. I'll then change the end date to reflect when your games have to be in by. Don't forget that for the second part you need to make a game page and upload the completed game there!
