Where did you read that != is a temporary tool that you should remove before you release your code? Cite the source for me. I think you just made it up in your head.

It's interesting, because in the tutorial it says "You can also check to see if two values are -not- equal using the != comparator".

I'm now totally convinced you're not even reading the tutorial text, that or it's just going WAY over your head.

It doesn't say that != doesn't do that, so where are you reading it's not?

The term CHECK means you're checking on it, if you have kids when you go to CHECK on them, do you stay there or do you leave? If you use a measuring tape to CHECK the length of somethhing, do you leave the measuring tape there after you use it to check the length?


You remove the measuring tape, just like you don't stay in your kids room to check on them, and unless the author of this comes right out and says that != STAYS THERE then just like CHECKING on your kids and just like using the measuring tape to CHECK the length.

Since you have no idea how Ruby was programmed, then you cannot say how I'm supposed to know that != is not something Ruby is programmed to use to check on something and then removed once it does it's job?

If the author doesn't clarify exactly what something means, then when it comes to grammar, then proper Grammar automatically gets used. That's how things work.

If you still don't understand how I applied temporary to the word CHECK in this case. Then you really don't understand the importance of explaining things in a tutorial, you just don't.

You may not get it, but the fact is because the author did not explain it properly, then The way I used != was 100% correct



Sorry but all the author said was you can use != to CHECK to see.

You can say whatever you like but it's not going to change the fact that BECAUSE THE AUTHOR DID NOT EXPLAIN WHAT HE MEANT BY CHECK, then English grammar automatically applies the definition.

Using CHECK the way he phrased it means that != is something RUby uses to help you see if your code is put together correctly.

Now what you need to get through your head is that if != is not used l like that THEN THE AUTHOR NEEDS TO SAY SO
