Here’s the First Look at the New Satanic Monument Being Built for Oklahoma’s Statehouse
In January the Satanic Temple announced plans to erect a monument glorifying the Dark Lord on the front lawn of the Oklahoma Statehouse. An Indiegogo campaign was launched with what seemed like a somewhat lofty goal of $20,000, but by the time donations ended almost $30,000 had been raised. Now an artist trained in classical sculpture is toiling away in New York, crafting a Baphomet figure sitting beneath a pentagram and flanked by two children gazing upward in loyalty. When it is finished, it will be cast in bronze and, the Satanists hope, eventually displayed in Oklahoma.
The statue is a direct response to the state's installation of a Ten Commandments monument outside the Capitol in 2012. State Representative Mike Ritze paid for the controversial statue with his own money, and therefore it was considered a donation and OK to place on government property. Following that line of reasoning, the Satanic Temple submitted a formal application for their monument.

Bwahahahahaha this fucking owns. I'd love to get my picture taken with this if it was placed in my town.
I wouldn't. It looks kind of goofy, really. Like something straight out of a Del Toro's movie... How hard is to get Baphomet right? xP
Why in the blue fuck would a nation that has such a problem with gay rights and is making legislation to stop it, not be trying to keep a Satanic monument from being put up in the statehouse?
Because I imagine that if they were this would be more of a known thing in the media.

I wanna see Donnie Darko again. This' what I'm thinking.

Worn out places.
Worn out faces..."
Since I've never seen it, I have the luxury of not particularly caring if I ever see it.
In Re: Satanist monument:
Government building in the middle of a wasteland: $2,000,000
Monument of the Ten Commandments: $30,000-50,000
The look on Creationists' faces when the Satanist Church does the same damn thing and can't be denied because the government can't lose face: Priceless

Well, you see, without Satan, they don't have anything to judge goodness by in contrast. So, in that regard, Satan's one of their best friends. Hell, they wake up every morning praying for Armageddon just so that they can receive a painless existence of eternal joy and whatnot. Self-preservation through absolute annihilation; that's what we call having your priorities straight. Unfortunately, gay sex is icky and everybody who partakes in it is icky and is a disgrace to the pursuit of said extinction. Love is only love if you pray for death and endorse selfishness. Logic.
I could go on for days about this, but I have and I've got more gam to mak.
author=alteregoTHAT'S IT, oh man I was trying to think if what it reminded me of, Pans Labyrinth. Great movie, his best by far.

I don't care what anyone says, or even what I say regarding my own agnostic beliefs, that statue of a Satanic deity will always disturb me.
why would that be disturbing to you? and more importantly, why should anyone else care that you are agnostic when talking about that magnificent creation?
along with the widespread homophobia the christian population has that i must deal with daily in my small rural conservative town in southwestern Michigan, my only problem with some religious people is that some not all believe that just because they practice a religion, their particular religion has priority above the others.
which would be the only reason anyone would detest to that statue's placement, a presumably christian person/group of people believing that the statue is an attack on their religion, like their religion is the focus of everything that goes on in the world

I thought that was a pagan statue :x
what a funny story, though! *starts indiegogo project for FSM statue*

I agree with Ratty. I get that the statue of Baphomet is a satire of the whole Ten Commandments statue, and I agree with the sentiment: there should be a clear line between politics and religion. That said, if I were placed in a dark room alone with a sledgehammer and that statue, I'd smash it up and I'd smash it up good.

Because it's goofy is half the reason, I'd probably sit in the lap and rock the horns if I could. The other half is due to the brilliance of trolling Oklahoma's dumb laws

I don't remember the full story but the tl;dr as I remember it is Oklahoma passed a law so they could cram Christian stuff in public-owned areas where it would normally not be allowed, like the statehouse. The token effort to obscure it from being obviously for Christian stuff (and not get thrown out immediately by the courts and drawing piles of backlash) is that it allows all religions to put their stuff up. The Church of Satan saw a brilliant opportunity and hence a statue of Satan is coming to Oklahoma!

Careful with that...
The Article from Above
“Depending on our insurance policy,” Greaves said, “we may be able to cast two from the destruction of one, expediting our arrival to the next battleground.”
It's a Satan-Hydra!
I kind of hope that someone breaks it so that there will be more of them.
Church of Satan sounds really funny to me. I'd take a picture on that thing's lap haha!

We gamers need to be represented! I'm opening a donation fund for a life-sized statue of FF1's Garland battle sprite to be placed next to Baphomet and the Ten Commandments with an inscription at its base stating "I, Garland, will knock you all down!"
