The weird thing is that Jeroen hasn't even been around, so whatever's going on with him seems to be pretty serious if it's kept him gone for this long.

This seriously worries me. Like, the last time I heard anything from him was during Release Something XIII, and that was basically, "<The event> doesn't fit with my schedule, but, I'll see if I can't fit it in anyway."

I was gonna make a status about Les Miserables' "ONE DAY MORE" and how I have only one day left in school before I go to <summer camp name>, but I just saw the news about faith-based adoption agencies in Michigan being allowed to deny parenthood to LGBT families. I rarely use FB as a platform for spitting out my opinion, but... what the hell?!

If you're gonna hate "dem queers", do it without devaluing the lives of children. Don't poison our country's future because of your petty discomfort, and don't do it while hiding behind the first amendment.

That whole "right to deny service on account of _____" thing is a real pickle. It's not entirely wrong or against the law but it does kind of make you the villain in the eyes of the ones you're denying service to. And it's not even that they're hiding behind their religion or anything, they just seriously believe with all their heart that what they've been told is right and should be upheld at all costs.

If reality TV is anything to go off of, there's more than enough proof in the favor of same-sex couples making excellent parents. All we need are people who are willing to keep pushing the discussion (the minute we stop talking is the minute we lose) and time.

On a similar-ish tangent to what you just posted, this happened on this side of the Atlantic and I found it pretty disgusting.

I'd be careful; that skirts awfully close to racism. Insinuating that people on the other side of the Atlantic are inherently less human.

corf: It's not people hiding behind religion, it's the government hiding behind the first amendment. The governor of Michigan stated that he approved the law because not allowing adoption agencies to deny LGBT people was restricting the freedom of religion and would allow more adoption agencies to exist instead of the state having to deal with discrimination cases.
