WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW?

Edit:Ultracynism is good for everyone (In small doses). (Wait, would that be regular cynism? =P)
I'd argue that it's not cynicism that's helpful, but Bluntness. This is how me and my room mate work in game design (and all other life aspects): we don't sugar coat stuff. If an idea is bad we tell the other guy that it sucks, and why.
Obviously there's a level of comfort involved, since we live together and have been friends for about 4 or 5 years now. When dealing with a forum-goer you don't know too well or a newbie to the site I think it's okay to dial it back a bit so you don't come off as an asshole, but you still shouldn't sugar coat things or omit criticisms.
I don't know, I guess I just feel that cynicism is an inherently negative thing, since it implies that you're not giving what you're criticizing a fair chance. Just my two cents though- what you call it is pretty much apples and oranges in the end.
“Remember, you cannot be both young and wise. Young people who pretend to be wise to the ways of the world are mostly just cynics. Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don’t learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us. Cynics always say no. But saying “yes” begins things. Saying “yes” is how things grow. Saying “yes” leads to knowledge. “Yes” is for young people. So for as long as you have the strength to, say “yes'.”

shmup has become a world class corporation, some of them are getting their games done for release like Octopus City Blues and Radio the Universe which are updated regularly and close to completion.
There's a fine line between being realistic and cynical.
I prefer to be surrealist. I just leased a giraffe, and so this big government of the US requires me to take harmonica lessons!

I'd love to make a fitness/lifting/etc thread but every time the topic comes up on RMN on fitness it's about a 20:1 ratio of "um i powerwalk twice a year and get really tired afterwards"

p. funny.
EDIT: Wow, just looked up Octopus City Blues (the only game with promise to ever come out of shmup) and it's gone the way of Rainfall and Americana Dawn. Sad.

Mog, the two things you just posted in this thread do not go together.
People who play video games and fitness, or people who make video games and fitness?
I'd heartily disagree on the first one. The seecond one...eh...

Who is mog
Me.

Mog, the two things you just posted in this thread do not go together.
You posted a quote from Colbert about not being cynical and giving up before you start! Then you were like "Meh I could make a weightlifting thread but why bother?"
The contrast made me chuckle.
Do you have a preference for being called Feldschlacht or Mog? Typing your name out just now made me realize why I always go with Mog.
Oh
author=Solitayre"Feld" is as easy to type as mog. But that's just me.

So I'd never heard of this game and went to look it up. The artwork for this is kind of amazing. Who's making this? It doesn't seem to be anyone who ever posted here.
From the look of it it doesn't seem to be dead, seems to have suffered severe schedule slip though with months going by without backers hearing from the dev. I'd usually say that's a bad sign but Darken says it's almost done and he sounds like he knows what's up.
As for Radio the Universe, I don't know anything about that game other than my impression of it was soured when we caught somebody trying to rig the misaos in its favor a couple years back.

Hahaha, true enough! Got me there. I might give it a go one of these days, then.
But Feldschlacht, Mog, or Feld is fine!
I've been thinking for a while now, and I wouldn't mind taking a shot at running a dungeon crawling game over the internet, like D&D or pathfinder. As always, the big issues is finding people who can commit to a semi regular schedule.
edit: dont ask me how that error snuck in there.

Are there virtual dice?

Sounds like a fairly smooth way to describe having lost excitement about something.
I'm over the interest.
I've made dice-bots for IRC before, and I highly suspect I wasn't the first to do so.

I love Pathfinder though I'm not big on dungeon crawling. I'm one of those hippie 'roleplayer' guys.

I meant internet. sorry. as for how, there are a few options, roll20 being one of them, though I may have other options as well in the works.

Which reminds me that hopefully that nWoD game some friends of mine are running should be running soon on IRC, and we got a pretty sweet dicebot thanks in part to perihelion.
Mog was your old name, right Feld? Was it on GW? I could have sworn you were Mog here for a while before changing, too, because I recall always getting confused as to whether you were two different people or the same person (even though part of me always knew you were the same person but, welp, siv brain strikes again~)
