IT'S A BABY DRAGON!

As far as I know, not many RPGs deal with pregnancy. This might be due to the ages of the characters involved, but plenty of games have young and viable female characters. What with various love affairs and the occassional implied sex scene, why don't we see more pregnancy? There are epics that span years, after all-- it only takes nine months to push out a little bundle of love.
FF6 had something like this and it was a pretty neat sub-plot to develop Terra and Mobliz (I think; WIP help me here!). A few games have PREGNANT WOMAN BEGETS CHILD in the prologue (DQ games, Rudras). What with all of the biblical games out there, I'm sure plenty deal with CAN YOU PUSH OUT THE BABY JESUS BEFORE THE KINGS GET THERE?!?!?!?!?!!!?!?!?
So yeah. Pregnancy in RPG's/FPS's go

ARIA influenced this I'm guessing... =)
Anyway, it's because pregnancy involves your hot female heroines getting plump and moodier than they already are.
And we all know that every female character has to be a babe at all times!

Well.... duh!
I have toyed around with the idea of a game where the main character is pregnant, and the primary action would have to be resolved before delivery, making for a natural gameclock. With visible signs and everything.
I was thinking maybe like an adaptation of Tam Lin. You could play Janet as she tries to rescue her baby daddy (the titular Tam Lin) from the Queen of the Fairies, before the child is born. Probably because society would insist that she not be unmarried with a child. I'm just not entirely sure how it'd work.
It's far on the backburners anyway. Just one of those ideas that occupy my thoughts from time to time.

Well ... if I remember correctly, Harmonic's game's heroine got preg0ed, Selan in Lufia II, Beloved R--er, best not say more. On a serious note, I think it might have something to do with sex appeal in female characters for RPGs.

Oh yeah. Krysta got knocked up good.
Yeah, I remember when it said "And a special thing happened." and I thought, "... huh? OH! I get it."
And what about the nine months after raising the little bundle of love until its weaned off breast milk? Having a baby is a serious time commitment when you're supposed to be out saving the world from certain destruction in some confusing time frame. Save the baby for after killing God :P
Pregnancy, and actually taking care of a newborn baby clashes pretty hard with well, anything you can possibly do otherwise. Having a kid pretty much means the end of your personal life in the real world, so how could someone feasibly go a journey in any capacity or save the world?
Of course, this only applies to realistic games. A game with babies akin to Yoshi's Island would be fun and would be an interesting design choice.

If you're going to execute this at a realistic standpoint.
The impregnated female can't be part of your party.
Like Feldshlacht said, it makes little sense. However,
having a close npc might be an idea. I may pursue it,
but no way in hell is my female lead going through that.
We designed her too hot to succumb to the horrors of
pregnancy.
Though I'm sure my chaarcters would be very tempted to wife this.
They've got a world to save...

I think basicly its a pregnant woman couldn't fight, and the previous statements.
Also finding a pregnant charset is hard, unless you just edit one.
I've added a pregnant widow NPC in the first town of my game.
Here's the charset if anyone wants it:

How OLD is she? She looks like 14, would she be getting pregnant anyway? =P
Phantasy Star III delt with pregnancy multiple times, as the game took place over multiple generations choices as to which character your avatar ended up with romantically led to their child becoming the next avatar. This happened 3-4 times over the course of the game and made for lots of potential characters along the way. Whilst the actual nitty-gritty of birth was never really gone into too much, it did show consistancy.
On that note, there is a mini-quest in Shadow's Reach that starts at the very beginning of the game and impacts the rest of play. Right in the first town you can choose to help get two NPCs together romantically. After which you re-encounter them later in the game and are guests at their wedding, and again at a later town where they have brought their first house. Later on they announce the females pregnany and you even get to help in the birth (by running around in an attempt to 'help' in a generally male panicked way). All optional assuming that you have gone through the other steps of course.

But was that dealing with pregnancy or simply people having kids?

17. You say that like 14 year olds aren't getting pregnant. ;D ;D
Come up D.C for a week.

LOL, us Marylanders are use to the pregnant 13 year olds...Baltimore is close as hell to me as well lol.
Um...I think the game Thousand Arms featured a pregnant scenario, although I could be mistaken. Thousand Arms, an RPG dating sim...what an odd/rare game lol.

It would be interesting, but it would hinder whoever had the baby, maybe like some sort of plot device. Like the baby was ransom or some chosen prophecy would tie it in nice.
