FAVORITE GAMEPLAY ELEMENT
Posts
Boss Battles. Especially when it's a significant element of the gameplay. Games like Zelda and Shadow of the Colossus come to mind. I love battles which involve a little puzzle solving along with some fast reactions. On that topic, puzzles is another aspect of gameplay that I enjoy. Zelda, Ico, etc.
I am a big fan of skill training for some reason. (Hit tree with sword for 4 hours to become master swordsman.)

A favorite gameplay element that everybody likes is an interactive world. Like maybe stuff you do in one city will make another city hate you so much you can't use their shops, or maybe they'll like you so much you can buy more stuff from them. Also, rpg's where you actually get to BE the role of the main character (its called role-play for a reason :/). It's always kinda bothered me where I play a game, and the main character is just an over-confident, pompous warrior and you have no say in it, and his character might develop on its own to the point where he's humble at the end of the game, even if you didn't want his personality to change! make a character that you can tell him to be a bold leader, or a backstabbing opportunist. Just don't be so corny with it the game ends up like Fable. xD Or FF8. For 3/4 of the game when squall wasn't killing stuff I wanted to jump through the tv screen and beat some personality into him.
Wow, McChicken. I think this goes a little beyond necroposting. More like archaeology. Ladies and gentlemen, the museum of RMN presents to you this rare gem; WIP opening a game design topic. This amazing discovery is credited to McChicken.
I'd leave this open if there wasn't already another topic that asks basically the same question up in Game Design.
