LET'S PLAY! FINAL FANTASY IV EDITION! ALSO A GENERAL FINAL FANTASY DISCUSSION TOPIC

I've always thought Golbez sounded Mexican too. It took me awhile to get used to the whole "Golbez is an evil villain name" thing.
No I love this topic! Sometimes I just can't be bothered to tell you it xD

"OMG this is funny" doesn't feel post worthy. Keep going though, glad to see you back and updating this. I think Edwards whole purpose is to be useless <3
I always thought it was "Goblez". Gobble gobble.

When I was younger, the handful of others who also played FF4 (way back in the day when it was cutting edge technology) all pronounced it differently.

Gol-bez
Gol-beez
GOBlez
GOBleez
Gol-Beez

etc
glad you are back, keep up the good work.
We care! I take a look in every now and then. I just don't feel the need to post most of the times, though. I guess I SHOULD, but 'eh. I'll get into the habbit of doing so eventually. The heat around here just makes me feel all tired...and mad feeling. It sucks. Can't wait for the winter when I'll be complaining about the cold! ::)

I'm supprised that it's still going, though. Some people just get tired and quit before they even get this far. =\

I pronounce Golbez as GOL-bez (as in the Gol in "Gold").

I just realized I've probably been pronouncing the name wrong ... I've been pronouncing his name based off of a Mexican teacher I hated. "Go-Bez." Whoops, forgot the L.

I've always wondered how it was pronounced. So I guess when FF4 DS comes out, we'll know for certain.

I'm not so sure I'd trust FF4 DS, considering they're pronouncing Cecil's name as "CEH-cil." I've never heard anyone, other than in this case, pronounce the name "Cecil" as "CEH-cil." And I even live in a state with a "Cecil" county.

Note: I've always pronounced it "GOAL-bez," even when I saw it for the first time.

Ugh, that irritates me to no end. I always thought it was called "SEE-ZIL." Or something to that effect.
What erks me the most, was that they were pronouncing "Tidus" as "Tee-dus". WTF? I always pronounced it as "TY-dus

This is excellent stuff mog. I just spent the last hour reading thru this shit xD

Yeah I would never trust the people who made the game to pronounce their own names properly...
Sideshow Cecil.

CEH-cil is the proper pronounciation. SEE-cil is wrong.
Yeah, SEE-cil just sounds retarded.

Yeah it's actually a pretty popular deep south name (or was) in places like Louisiana. CEH-sil. The people in your area are mispronouncing it. That happens a lot - there are a few towns and counties in my area that people mispronounce all the time and you just sort of have to go with it.
R-R-R-R-RECAP

1. We met Yang, a karate choppin monk dude.
2. We agreed to escort him to Fabul
3. We enlisted the help of Fabul king to help thwart Baron.
4. Baron came knock knock knockin' on our door.
5. We tried to fight them off, but we got as far as the Crystal Room before Kain showed up. Kain kicked Cecil's ass. Golbez showed up and kidnapped Rosa too.
6. Baron pushed Fabul's shit in. Now, we're going to try to sneak in Baron by ship.

See? Told you so.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION TIME
: According to the Settei Shiryu, there's a story behind this sword.

On an incidental note, a single Dark Sword rests within the walls of Fabul Temple. This sword is the same sword that has become symbolic of Fabul's prosperity.
During the skirmishes of a few hundred years ago, a lone Dark Knight, his entire body covered in wounds and his life hanging by a thread, found his way to Fabul Temple. In the course of receiving treatment for his wounds, this knight experienced a spiritual awakening under the instruction and teachings of the Archbishop and ended up entering into the Fabul Temple faith. The sword installed within Fabul Temple is the Dark Sword that Dark Knight abandoned. As the story soon spread throughout the world, strong people in search of spiritual training began one after another to head toward Fabul.

BTW, that Dark Knight was named Renault if anyone cares.

So, I set out for the long journey ahead, but it really hurts missing Rosa in our lineup. There goes our healing.

Listen, I'm no doctor. I don't have time for your crazy talk, ok? GET OUT OF MY FACE

Anywho, the port is a short walk away from Fabul, so that's where we go. Looking at her sprite, Yangs wife is pretty okay looking. I guess that explains why Yangs daughter Ursula ends up growing up to be the looker in The After.

I love this translation. Square couldn't have gotten away with that 15 years ago. And with that, we shove off.

Given that Cid is the only one left that isn't an asshole, yeah, that's a pretty solid course of action.

This question was directed at Edward, at which he replies that he has a bad feeling. Don't worry everyone, he probably just forgot to take his Midol.

And with that, the ship starts shaking quite violently, and lo and behold, a giant...tentacle comes out of the water.

...RUN RYDIA

Ok, that seriously looks creepy as hell, even though I'm 20 years compared to how creepy I thought it was when I was like, 10.

Rydia's the first one to become fish food. Yang, being the badass that he is, dives after her, but he doesn't come back either. Cecil's just a deadbeat in rock heavy armor so he just stands there.

And of course Edward just bitches out and trips over himself.

So it turns out that everyone was lost in the shipwreck and Cecil's sorry ass is alone.

In other news, I must say this Deathbringer works quite well. It shuts up giant Zuu's like this one in one shot.

Hey, look! A town! Things aren't so bad, after all! We can rest, stock up, gather some information, and get a ship to eventually rescue our friends! What a blessing to shipwreck right near a town! Cecil certainly has brighter days ahead, what a blessing in disguise!

Aw, fuck.

As you can expect, everyone in Mysidia is extremely happy to see me, starting with this asshole turning me into a Frog...

...this awesome notice of Mysidia's excellent relations with Baron...

...this bitch turning me into a Pig in the middle of a lapdance and leaving me in a dark alleyway...

This cool bartender poisoning me with a drink I didn't ask for...

...and this cheery fellow giving me a sales pitch about his happy weapons store.

Luckily I'm able to stay at the Inn without getting raped/robbed in my sleep.

Everyone is so pleasant here!

I roll up in their spot and talk to the old dude in the middle there. Remember him? He's the one that shit himself when Cecil and his crew snatched their Crystal from under their nose.

Cecil tries to apologize, and gives him the gist of what's going on with Golbez, our favorite Mexican.

After he pulls out some Obi-Wan shit, he proceeds to tell me my dark sword is worthless and to go to some mountain somewhere to get rid of it. I don't know, I did a decent enough job of handing your asses to you with my Dark Sword, so what's the problem here, pal?

Hey, that's encouraging! But Cecil, not being a moron (thankfully) calls the Elder out on sending him on a suicide mission alone.

And out comes Lefty and Righty, from pretty much nowhere. I always wondered how in RPGs and such, people can hear their names being called from like, 30 feet away and in another room, barring magic or something.

Look here, dickweed, don't make me take your candy.

Anyhow, introducing Palom and Porum. Mysidian apprentice mages at the tender age of five years old, their claim to fame is their extreme talent at their respective fields, Palom's being Black Magic, and Porum's being White Magic. Magic in FFIV is pretty difficult to learn, once in wide use, it was mostly sealed by the ancient Mysidians once they began to fuck shit up with it. Now, relearning magic is quite a difficult task, and it may take someone decades to learn a spell like Firaga. However, both Palom and Porum are already ahead of the game, knowing spells like Fira and Cura, and they're both five years old.

They kick some pretty good ass.

Their stats are pretty good too, the only problem being is that they lack a little battle experience. What's the best way to remedy that?

LET'S TUMBLE WITH SOME DEADLY MAN EATING MONSTERS. Okay, here's the dilly-o. They both have Black and White magic, but what else do the twins have going for them? Well, Palom goes first; he has a nifty little skill called Bluff, which raises his Magic a good bit. Pretty useful, I'd say.

And Porum has a little something called Cry, where she cries like a baby, and uh, honestly, I forgot what this does, it either throws off the enemies turn, or slows them down, or something. It's not a bad skill.

The real deal is their skill called Twin, where they both unite and charge up their magic to unleash a devastating Double Tech-esque skill. As you can see, it did a lot of damage. The downside? It takes FOREVER TO CHARGE. Seriously, by the time you get one of these down, everyone is dead anyway on either side.

Anywho, after a really long time going east, we finally, finally find Mt. Ordeals. Seriously, Palom and Porum gained quite a few levels just getting here.

Yeah yeah Palom, you're awesome, we get it. No, seriously, we get it. MEANWHILE, HOWEVER...

Left-handed and right-handed? Does that mean anything?

Obligatory yet mostly worthless statement of support: Your commentary is awesome and I look forward to more!

Not that I know of, and thanks!

Oh yeah, I already have the second part typed up and saved, so I can post it at any time, but I don't want the image overload to pretty much kill me. So, let's chat for a second.

Who's your favorite FFIV character, and why? If you've never played or experienced FFIV till now, who do you like so far?

This is now a FFIV discussion topic for the time being!
