I wonder if they asked anyone at all. There'll be some parent who gets confused and buys aXBox Onean original XBox and Little Timmy will have the worstest Christmas ever.
All of my friends are in the same boat as me: "Why does Console gaming still exists when we have our smartphones to play games with?"
because, contrary to what you might think, not everybody shares the same opinions as you. thankfully.
i dislike mobile gaming.
on phones: small screen, no ergo-buttons/joystick(or worse touch screen), short/shallow games, eats battery that you need for phone functions.
handhelds: expensive, small screen, sometimes shallow games but even the big ones are rarely as big as console games. (big as in world size, gameplay depth, and game length)
i like good games. not just games. imo, most mobile games are a waste of time. a simple concept stretched out over 100 levels. i'm not so addicted to games that i need to play a game just to be playing a game. there are other things to do in life besides playing games everywhere you go.
when im out somewhere, im not usually in a position where i can ignore the world around me and focus on a screen. and if i am, its only for a short time. i have to drive and i'm usually driving somewhere so i'm busy when i get there. when i can look at a screen i just watch a show on my phone for a few mins.
so while there is no doubt mobile gaming is big, i can't imagine it ever replacing any other kind of gaming. not until we get matrix-like VR or some kind of headgear immersive thing. and even then, stationary gaming isn't going anywhere. if only because you will(most likely) never see the same kind of processing power in a small mobile device that you can get with a PC/console.
i read on cbc that the xbox one is the sleekest system to date :| it's a fucking giant black wii with a two-tone finish. wtf
until this topic, i never even heard the term 'xbone'
poor little timmy xD
Also note that the Atari 2600 console will still run games 30 (no wait 35?) years later while the Xbone with it's always on DRM feature becomes an oversized paper weight as soon as the servers get shut off or switched to the next generation of overpriced consoles.

What ever happened to the ol' Super GameBoy concept? It put Gameboy games into your SNES. Now that, my good friend, would take mobile gaming to the next level.
I found out last weekend you can connect your PS whatever their little hand held thingie is to a tv with an HDMI cable. I S*** my pants. I missed all those old FF games I've been dying to play because I thought it was a cheap tard system, and I didn't want to play on that micro screen. And now they have this new vita thing? gah! I financially can't keep up with any of this!! How do you multi-system people do it?!
I think I'm just going to stick with Nintendo since they are the cheapest; and they haven't let me down too much.
PS4 looks best at the moment even if purely for The Witness. That game will blow minds beyond infinity.
I mean, it's Jonathan Blow... if he has a cult I'll join it, kind of thing.

So the gloves are off and both Microsoft and Sony have now unveiled their 8th-gen consoles. The question is, which one's got your vote, if any? Do you think the all-in-one entertainment centre goal of the Xbox One will work as intended, or will Sony take the lead with their offering?
Neither, Ocean’s Dreamcast!
…Gimme your Dreamcast Ocean!
…But in all seriousness, back in 2007 I bought a 60gb playstation 3 solely because, not only would I be able to continue to buy and play psone and ps2 games, but I would also be able play playstation 3 games on it as well.
…6 years and 3 YLOD repairs later, my playstation 3 is currently broken and outside of demon souls/dark souls and a handful of downloadable titles, there haven’t really been a whole lot of games that have justified owning a playstation 3.
I mean, it was probably the best psone and pstwo system. You could have more than four controllers without having to own a multitap and you could also convert your old psone save files to the psp with the memory card converter they sold a few years ago. But in terms of games, I dunno…
It just seems like, game developers can no longer afford to make the games that I want to play anymore; games like Katamari Damacy, Mad Maestro, Fatal Frame, Rez, Shadow of Destiny, Indigo Prophecy- you know, fun, interesting, creative games. Games that were usually relatively short in length but were still very much enjoyable to play and could still turn over a decent profit for publishers.
These weren’t indie games or smart phone games. These were games that you could probably beat in a weekend rental from the video store. These were the games that really pushed the system and contributed to the vast variety of titles during the early and mid 2000s. Games like Spy fiction, Dog’s life, Cygirls, Urban Chaos or Chibi Robo.
Most of the these games were kind of mediocre, sometimes even terrible, but the fact that they could exist, the fact that these games could actually be made and share shelf space with the likes of “Halo”, “Metal Gear Solid” or even, I dunno, “God of War” is what made playing these video game consoles so great. That you could walk into a store and if you were already tired of playing the usual stuff, there was a wide enough variety of games available that, you could at least go home with something different from what you were playing before.
The platform for these types of games, these “middle class games” have disappeared from the console market. They’ve all migrated to the smartphone and cellphones because it’s just too expensive to make games on these systems.
Games like, I dunno, La Mulana:

So I think everyone should pay very close attention to what’s going to happen in the next five years, because if history has taught us anything, it’s the system that’s the easiest to develop for and the least expensive to make games on that usually wins these things out in the end.
…I dunno. I guess I’ll probably get a Wii U or something…
…But if I can play NBA Street vol. 2 with 3 complete strangers over the Internet, then I’ll probably get the PS4…
But, that’s never going to happen…
Neither, because I was disappointed when I bought my Wii-U, so I'm not going through another 500+ dollars on another console.
Was the Wii U release that big a flop?
I think people overstate it a bit because the Wii U makes for some easy jokes, but yeah we've already seen a couple big price drops and the consoles still don't seem to be moving as fast as anyone hoped.
the fact that the PS4 aims to do the same kind of controller-screen thing that the Wii U did, except optionally and with a much nicer peripheral (the Vita is wonderful oh my goodness) might just kill the Wii U, to be honest with you

Ha, apparently in the UK the sales of the Wii U went up 800% after the Xbone was revealed.
I haven't seen any price drops for the WiiU yet, are you thinking about the 3DS? I wouldn't be surprised if one will come up when the Xbone/PS4 come out though, maybe they can show a game worth buying and try to communicate to the larger crowd that the WiiU isn't a peripheral for the Wii.
it was dropped to £149 in the UK, and Target seems to be cutting prices as well by around 20%. nothing super dramatic, but for a console that's been released so recently it's kind of weird, yeah?
well, what would you play on it if you got it? Bayonetta 2's the only Wii U game coming down the pipe that I'm really that interested in.
author=mawkJust like the optional PS Move controller did to the Wii!
