Hey RMN!

Some of you guys know me from the project I worked on, JAOD Project (http://rpgmaker.net/games/3708/). Yep, I'm still alive guys!! Anyway, Ashes of Emerald (you know him, another RMNer who created FEY http://rpgmaker.net/games/778/?post=492315) and I have teamed up to develop a mobile game!! I don't know about you, but throughout my years of being at RMN it has always been nice to see one of our own go on to do bigger projects. Well now you can add two more to that ever growing list.

But seriously, we need your support. We are doing a Kickstarter campaign, and we need as much exposure and funding as possible. Please take the time to share some love! You guys know me and Ashes of Emerald, we will do you proud with this project. We only have to get through this funding hurdle.

CCGChannel Does An Overview of Heroes Vs Villains

Interview with MegapiemanPHD

Huo Tian Spotlight Speed Paint

Thanks Kentona and RMN community for covering and supporting our project!
Well, first, compliments for the transition to real games and everything.

A quick suggestion: it's not a very good idea to have a simple speed painting as the main video, and a developer interview on static backgrounds down in the article. Why not put the audio of the interview on the speed painting interspersed with pretty pictures. Right now it's a bit barebones.

But really, I think you launched this campaign too soon, you need more things to show if you want to convince people, unless you have a really big name, and first impressions are extremely important given the sheer number of game kickstarters. You've put together a nice team on the artistic side, but that's not quite enough to make a game. Even static gameplay mock-ups would help people get an idea of what you're trying to achieve.

Anyway, best of luck with it!
Good suggestions! We have been considering releasing a video showcasing some of the game mechanics in a video. But we have been hesitant in doing so because all of our assets are placeholders. We are thinking of alternative ways of getting our message to the public though.

I'll spend this weekend to think about how we can make some changes to our page. As well as demonstrate how simple the development piece actually is! You have any other good tips?
@Hasvers: Took your advice, take a look at our new featured video! Let me know if you think it's an improvement. You can see it in context on our Kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/423185236/tatum-games-heroes-vs-villains

And also, here is a support video that people are taking a liking to. We will be adding to ALL of our rewards a digital copy of the speakers CD. What you see in this video is the type of works you will get on his CD. It's pretty neat.

That is much better IMHO. It is significantly easier to get an idea of what you're aiming at, without having to delve into a wall of text (I guess few people do unless attracted by more visual hooks). If you can throw together a short game mechanics video (or even a mockup of the gameplay screen with some details, or whatever) with placeholder assets including or on par with your concept arts, it may help demonstrate that you're able to make an actual game, without detracting from the attractiveness of the project (provided you put a big "placeholder art" tag in a corner) although admittedly the CCG crowd you're trying to reach knows what to expect.

In any case, these will always be good steps toward later stages of promotion. When looking for publicity, I think it is crucial to aim at vertical slices ASAP, to show that the project is viable (even if you only have an extremely limited subset of it to show). Expanding something that seems to work looks far less risky than making it from scratch.
Also nothing is more efficient than learning from peers: these guys made it, barely, but at least they didn't have to self-fund half of their goal like those. I leave to your appreciation the question of why :)
It's awesome to see this really coming together!!!
Very good to hear. And wassup Ashes! :-).
@Hasvers, we took your advice again (lol, we've been doing that a lot lately it seems) and added some screenshots, and made further updates to our page. Take a look here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/423185236/tatum-games-heroes-vs-villains

Also, to the whole RMN community, please show your support of this project. We need people to share our page, like our videos, spread the word and, of course, make a pledge. You can pledge as little as $1, or $5! Every little bit helps with enticing other investors. And also, keep up with the comments. We are listening, and making adjustments.

Thanks!
Added short video clip of how battles work, and new screenshots of our prototype are made available! Take a look at these changes, and please continue to help my project.

Great video, the UI so far is a bit rough but over all it's coming to light and I'm super excited to physically play this!

That's why we did not want to open up with doing any demonstrations of the prototype. The game is in early development and we are using this Kickstarter for a Beta, which will also be our Demo. I think the public is expecting this to be a final stage product and it's not. It is tough expressing that a Beta is far from a final stage product, but still takes tremendous costs to create! But once it's developed, there are many things that can be leveraged with that Beta/Demo. But it does take the public's help to cover some of those costs, especially if the developers have limited resources.

But thanks for the comments about the video. Hopefully the public will understand that this is a work in progress. And in order to continue developing this product to a stage where it CAN be presented, it's going to take some financial backing of some kind.
Thanks RMN for your support, but we have canceled our Kickstarter. We will continue development on Heroes Vs Villains, so keep your eyes and ears open for when we emerge again with a stronger and more polished presentation.

I'm very sorry to hear this, but on the bright side, it was a fun and eye opening experience. I wish you the best and will keep my eyes peeled and my ears to the ground. Please keep me informed of progress! Thanks again for this amazing experience. I wish you the best of luck.
