The stereotype about Asian women for example. Also, Shadowtext has the best and most informative post in the entire thread. I personally learned quite a bit.

As ignorant as it may be, it's a pretty widespread stereotype. Just wanted to get to the cultural roots of it.

Actually, my longest relationship was with a Filipino lady who I've known for almost ten years (since like middle school) and still to this day. (And no, she didn't conform to the stereotype). I asked her the very same question and not only did she understand why people would think that (and she wasn't offended in the least), she didn't get bent out of shape about it, and basically confirmed it somewhat by referring to her own family members and culture experiences.
It was very interesting to hear her give her own thoughts and theories why people would think that, and it was a very enlightening discussion.

I mean, getting all bent out of shape about a common stereotype is kinda dumb. That's like me (for example) getting angry at people wondering "WHY ARE MOST BLACK AMERICANS CRIMINALS?"
Sure, it sucks seeing...ignorance, of course not all black people are thugs and criminals, but I can certainly understand why people would think that, given that black people statistically make up the bulk of the US prison population, many of us don't ever see higher education, and there's a higher percentage of us with criminal records than any other race in America.
I can't get mad at a very understandable stereotype, especially when it's rooted in fact.

Stereotypes are rooted in xenophobia and hatred not FACT
Of course. Not all stereotypes are all 100% false either, no matter how much you put your fingers in your ears and scream. Face it, there's the tiniest bit of truth somewhere in even the most gruesome stereotype.
An intelligent person separates the fact from the fiction in stereotypes and that's how he makes his judgments.
