Stereotyping = Are you stupid are what? You know there are variations.

The human mind naturally associates things and makes assumptions based on that

what are you even talking about anymore

you can stop with the over simplification MOG.

Thanks, however that doesn't dilute anything I've said before.
One reason for stereotypes is the lack of personal, concrete familiarity that individuals have with persons in other racial or ethnic groups. Lack of familiarity encourages the lumping together of unknown individuals

Honestly, I've personally met maybe about...8 Asian people? Ever? So I'll own up to that.

So are Japanese people so “weird?”

Shadowtext somewhat addressed this, but many Japanese and East Asian youths tend to engage in an extremely rigorous education system. From the tender age of preschool, you already have to take annoying multi-choice examinations in order to guarantee admissions into good and well-rounded pre-schools, and it is up to those pre-schools to ensure you will get into a good elementary school. By the time you are 12, there is an even stronger increase in education during junior high school â€" or also known as “lower-secondary schools.” These admissions for the most part are purely based off of hard-core examinations. Yes, that's it. ABCD all day long, loves! Also, there is no fucking weekend. You have to go to school on Saturdays as well and summer vacation is no longer than a month or so. There is incredible weight on your examinations because unlike in the US where everything is sugarcoated in extra-curricular activities and volunteering, in order to get into college, you must take the entrance exam that the school offers. As you can imagine, it is incredibly stressful. Often times, parents will enroll their children into these after school cram classes where students sit there into the night and just read, study and cram.

Ironically, by the time most of them test into their secondary school, that's where the fun beings and most of them unleash all the pressures brought on them since they were practically toddlers. Though some people often times get pressured even beyond that point because you have to imagine that in Japan, there is very limited housing. Its not like America where once you turn eighteen, you can leave and find a place elsewhere. Its very, very crowded and limited, so its not uncommon for a young adult to live under the super vision of their parents for a very long time. When I was still around that area, I lived in Osaka, which is still a huge city of its own, but it was barely twenty minutes away from Tokyo. It's a little hard to get out of the circle of pressure and demands.

The culture is extremely rigid and puts incredible emphasis on modesty, politeness and strict discipline. The “weird fetishes” that you see are just outputs from far too much input on a group of people.

Why are Asian women boring during sex?

I fairly went over this before, that's the expectation. In other countries, women are suppose to have that chastity shit going for them, even though they are expected to be subservient. Well, in many Asian cultures back in the ol' days, that expectation went beyond your daytime manners.

I recall reading a classic scene in the story Tales of Genji, based off of real accounts the author, Murasaki Shikibu, who lived during Feudal Japan, the man character Hikari Genji feels horny all of a sudden and he walks into town and sees a beautiful woman by the window. He enters her room and demands to rape her. She does not fight back, she does not say anything besides, “Please make sure they don't hear.” That's because the ideal Asian women from a traditional standpoint absolutely must be small, weak, quiet and submissive at all times (heh, compensation must?).

Also, I'd like to make the note that this is definitely not applicable to all Asian countries. In the Himalayan and many tribal areas which you would assume to be more "conservative" and "traditional" - heh, its the women that engage in polygamy, otherwise known as polyandry. Yep, women are the dominate gender and they command the men all around. Aggressive? You bet.

Mind you, I find your post still incredibly offensive and irritating to the max, and I am still wondering what the fuck you are trying to say and imply, but I hope you have your explanation.

Oh, by the way, in modern times, there has definitely been a huge backlash over the issue. The other day I was perusing through CNN and found this interesting story: http://www.8asians.com/2008/07/02/the-white-butlers-cafe-for-japanese-women/

Now I hope some nice fellow do me a favor and lock this thread. I doubt anymore meaningful banter will follow.
People will make judgments on an entire group of people based on the first examples they see, if you get stung by a bee you're gonna assume every other bee you see might sting you too

Obviously you haven't met enough.

Thank you! Although, I won't lock the topic although someone else may if they see fit.

Mind you, I find your post still incredibly offensive and irritating to the max, and I am still wondering what the fuck you are trying to say and imply, but I hope you have your explanation.

I suggest you chill out. I wasn't implying or trying to say anything. If I wanted to say something, I'd have no problem saying it no matter how offensive it was perceived. I was just curious about a stereotype, and although I was very aware that it was generally untrue, I was wondering why it was held in the first place. What triggered it? Is there a cultural reason for it? Is it based in fact? If not, let me know that too.

Also, I admit I had some lingering stereotypes as well, like all of us do, even if it's in the tiniest amount. I was hoping this topic would dispel that.

Like I said before, it's pointless being offended at a stereotype, even a commonly held one. It's dumb. Like I said before, that's like me being very angry at how some people assume that most African Americans are criminals. Ignorant, yeah, but it doesn't make me angry. Why? Because it's rooted in fact. African Americans make up a bulk of the prison population, statistically many of us never graduate, and statistically many of us never see higher education.

People can get all hurt and wave the political correctness flag all they want to, but getting angry at a stereotype such as this one is dumb because it's at least partially rooted in cold, hard facts. Most of them are. Some of us are actually brave enough to step up and admit that we may believe these stereotypes at least partially, and we ask for information to disprove it and to further educate ourselves.

So why get mad?

Huh? I think you misunderstand me. I was offering you a concrete explanation that you desired. I was annoyed at the fact that these stereotypes still float around. How is that dumb? Just because its common, doesn't mean it right. Its good that you asked, but it shouldn't stop someone from getting offended that these ideologies are so prevalent.

Oh, well yeah that sucks. It just seemed that you were getting angry at me (HEY I HOPE SOME FELLOW LOCKS THIS TOPIC (even though it isn't your call)) specifically for wondering about these stereotypes, even though I was asking for concrete information to support or dispel them.

Old news.

High-stressed population with jobs, cramped conditions, etc. Who has time for babies? Same thing is happening, but to a less extreme extent, to America's white population for somewhat similar reasons.

The reason why I suggested this should be closed is that I can hardly picture any responses with much else besides angry folks or random e-e-e-erotic conversations. :o
I just found that out; pretty interesting. What is Japan planning on doing about it? According to some articles, that's going to have a big time effect on the economy if things continue.

Well, what can they do? Force people to make more babies? If you read the article, they already tried to enforce something called the Angel Project or some weird shit like that, but to no avail. Its going to have as bad as an effect as China's one child policy rule (in this case, its nice to curb the population down, but now you have one child supporting both parents, and perhaps an extra set of grandparents? In Japan, they are lucky to be wealthy enough not to be too concerned).
Even Australia has population problems that's why they are asking for immigrants =_=
How did I get in here in the first place. Philippines is suffering from overpopulation. Does that explain anything?
Can't they approach their policy towards immigration to make it easier for other people to come in the country? I mean, things really can't stay the way they are.
The problem with Japan is it's the most expensive place to live in, the engrish in that place is not certainly a nice place to live in for people new to japan.

Also, now that I think about it, Japan isn't the most spacious place either. Still, it's not like Americans are the only immigrants around (what about other Asian countries?).
