legend of shit-game

Close. "Densetsu" does mean "legend", but with the "no" inserted after the word instead of before, it becomes an adjective, so it roughly translates into "legendary." "Kusoge" is a compound word of "kuso" (shit, crap, feces, etc.) and "ge", the shortened version of "geemu" (game).

So it's "Legendary Shit Game."

If the title was "Kusoge no Densetsu", however, your translation would be pretty much correct.
I believe I took a bite a bit too big with this one. I can't help but look at how little graphics I've done so far and compare it with remaining days.

I've been at it pretty much every day now. It doesn't help to have a full time job and random house chores along side. Not to mention i've got all the weekends planned with other stuff.

Well even if I miss the mark, I'll have a game well under way for later release...

Yeah, even if you can't make the deadline, you'll still have a cool game partly done. Your game's graphics look really nice ^_^

I need to stop being lazy and start working :/
question:
- if we make a game for that contest, are we allowed to upload it on rpgmaker.net before the contest is over?
- if so, should we mark it as contest entry game?

Yep! Several people, including the team I'm on, have made gamepages for our games, and I've seen some that have already uploaded their games! As far as I can tell, it doesn't break any of the rules, unless I've missed something.
Horray : ) I see, thank you, unity.

Hope this isn't off topic - how do you handle the test-playing?
Will you / are you allowed to make fixes after players found some bug or something they complain about? XD

Well, some people already have their contest entry demos or full games out. I'm sure that, if you send in feedback, they will fix it. After all, the development period doesn't end for another 20 days, so I don't think fixing your game is out of the question. If you submit it on the contest page already, then I don't know. I'm pretty sure you can, though.

Even if it was out of the question, it's still your game. When the contest ends, you still have a game download that's yours. You can do whatever you want with it.

Deckiller or Liberty can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Red Nova has it right. I don't see any reason why you can't use feedback about how to improve your game to do just that, as long as you send the final build to the judges in time.

Now, as for if you can do that after you've already submitted the game to the contest site, I don't know, as I'm not familiar with how it works.

I'm not sure how the submissions are handled for this event. However, if the download is from an RMN gamepage, editing a pre-existing download would allow you to keep the same link for your game throughout the life of the submission period, and afterwards. Note that, if you do work on it after the official submission period is done, I would recommend having another download for it, out of courtesy to the event.

Though, if you find a need to do a quick-fix, or what-have-you, after the submission period is officially over, you'd best ask a judge if there is a "grace period" for updating your submission.

The time is slowly running out and I haven't done much at all. Better get all hands on deck.
Yo, is it okay to do pastiches of a copyrighted property? Say we wanted to make a game riffing off the Princess Maker series (a la that Project Princess flash game). Would filing off the serial numbers help here? Or what if someone made a parody game starring Nate the Ninja, with his friends Sauce-cake and Soccera? Would this be acceptable?
You can't copyright ideas. The Princess Maker series is a raising sim (of which there are quite a few) and thus you too may make a Raising Sim as long as you don't copy their everything. (Raise a bunch of kids from x age to x age should be fine).

The second example might be a little too close since you're actually riffing off established characters (who are easy to figure out).

So I had to roll up my sleeves and make an RMN event page for this big event, because Deckiller disappeared. I made everything grey because I don't know.

Good for you; unfortunately, while 10 thou sounds absolutely delightfulI have a lot of IRL things going on right now which must unfortunately take priority; disappointing, but sensible, I'm afraid. :( I will, however, work on my Wyrm Warrior map as a way to get more practice whit the Ace Engine. Perhaps by the time the next contest comes around I'll be assured enough in my abilities and status to dive in wholeheartedly.

Ah, dang, I guess that nixes one project I had thought up for this. Hm, would a game about an art exhibit currently going on in my town be okay?

You'd be surprised what people do. Of course you can't really copyright an idea, but you can patent one. There's over thousands, and thousands of very vague, patented ideas.

I read about it in a magazine about this guy trying to start a comedy website and how many people could sue him with their very vague patent they just buy, and yet don't actually work to create.
