THERE IS NO OPTION TO ADD SIGNATURE
Posts
I remember the bad old days of signatures. Though we sort of do have signatures. Under the avatar is a bit of room for a personal message, all one has to do is donate and they can add their own little signature that doesn't take up scroll space from the forums.
I mean the basic fact is that back when signatures were at its worst (might still be at its worst out there) signatures were regularly longer than any one post a person did.

Signatures stop being cool around the time you become an adult. There really wasn't much point in them, people more or less just made dumb banners highlighting their usernames (as if it was too hard to read the name above their avatar).
The only thing I can imagine people putting in their signatures here would be banners/links to their game pages, but that would be dumb since all you need to do is check someone's profile for that information.
Also anyone who goes ahead and manually adds signatures to their posts after being told not to deserves to have their posts shamed.

I didn't think about it until now, but I feel the same way when people end their posts with a manual signature. Like if someone puts this at the end of every single post:

That reeeeeeaaaally grates on me. They're pretending to be some sort of professional, when they just come off as a condescending jerk. Seriously, do they think we forget who's making that post? Do they think we're too dumb to take a glance to the left and see who's posting?
I can KINDA understand why they put that in a PM, but when they do that for every single forum post, I just want to kick them.

I've always felt that it's a tad bit pretentious.

Didn't the guy who made Konstandin periodically end his posts this way? At least, that's what I seem to recall in CashemereCat's review.
ANNNND, the game-page is down. His posts, however, still live on.

That's actually what I was referring to. I remember getting really annoyed at the guy, and not just because of his attitude.
Then I read this topic and it clicked; It was how he ended his posts that really made my kicking leg twitch. And I don't even HAVE a kicking leg, so that should say something.

why is Xand PM'ing me asking why signatures aren't allowed?
E:
ps. my response:
signatures are horrible useless pointless ugly clutter and it is never going to be an option on this website.

Wow, I really didn't expect anyone to actually do it manually as I jokingly suggested. Sorry, Xand.
I'm a good bad influence.
I'm a good bad influence.
I wont mention any names, but I do remember someone adding their sigs back in manually every post after sigs were shut off, and WIP, upon seeing that, banned them. Also, this site has proven that sigs are overrated anyways.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Fortunately, WIP is now gone.

Liberty I kind of have a huge crush on you now.
Also while I like the opportunity to use signatures to advertise the dumb webcomics I make, I also assume that 90% of the world just glaze their eyes and scroll past anything after that horizontal line indicating the main post is done. vOv
In conclusion, signatures are really not worth it. Also, read my webcomics.

OK fine but I don't understand why, most other forums have it and almost all users here have avatars which is the same.Image in a link is from other website and doesn't load the site at all.Liberty please don't edit my posts with hide tags people wouldn't read it anymore and why being rude you could have asked me to remove the signature and I would do it.What does m with number mean below avatar?
User Mawk avatar had virus in it but now is broken image I sent personal message to him few months ago and still no response perhaps he didn't read it, it was recognized by ESET NOD32 antivirus.
Liberty, Kentona can I at least put my signature at etymologies topics? those are my favorites.

OK, fine, but, I don't understand why. Most other forums have it, and almost all users here have avatars. Which are, essentially, the same thing.
I'm not quite seeing how avatars are the same thing as signatures. Also, are you are aware that signatures can be text as well as images? Also-also, avatars have a limit to their size (images in signatures generally don't have such a limit), and don't actually link to anything.
Anyway, with this thread, I am beginning to be somewhat afraid of my posts on this gamepage?
@Xand:
No, you may not add them anywhere.
You may not add them to a chair!
Whether single or a pair!
You may not add them here, nor there! - Cat in the Hat... probably
Which part of my post was unclear about that? You can add it to your personal profile if you so wish, but if I see it anywhere else I will issue a warn and get a lot more snarky with my comments that replace them. You don't want that. I don't want that.
As for avatars, they are completely different. They allow an individualistic identifier as to the current poster you are reading, easy to see and know who wrote what. They are out of the way, removed from the content of posts and thus cannot be confused with posts. They do not add extra length to posts as they have size limits and cannot get too crazy-big.
The M is your Makerscore. It shows how much you have contributed to the community. It does not count posts. And the small title under the avatar is your own personal title which is cute and has a limit. I think we should change yours to be something like "Gimme sig plox" or something inane like that. "Wanna know the etymology of my signature? Hide Tag!" sounds good to me. You unlock the ability to change it if you donate to the site but otherwise it is bestowed apon you by kentona and it is seen as an honour. And none of them mess with the actual content of a post. None of them can be considered as part of a post. So, no. They are not the same.
Also, as one who had to go through your posts and edit out your signature, the least you could do for the poor people looking at said posts is add different sections of long-ass text into hide tags. It will look a lot neater and not take as long to load (or scroll. Seriously, the reason I never checked your topic even though the subject interests me is because I saw a wall of text and said "No, fuck that, I'm out." I am sure I'm not the only one.)
"People wouldn't read it anymore!" - pretty sure pressing a button to show the text ain't gonna stop people who are interested. In fact, it's more likely for them to give it a chance - curiousity vs large ass wall of text? Yeah, curiousity will make people press the button and at least read a few words more than "Lol, nope".
And as for asking? No. I warned you. Used bold text even. Not my fault if you didn't read my post in the thread you made that you should have paid attention to as it had answers to the question you asked. Definitely not my fault that after being told no you went ahead and did the thing you were told not to do. Don't blame me because you got called out for doing the thing you were told not to.
Frankly, I thought you were being silly and trying to be funny when you added your sigs in, which is the only reason I didn't give warns for each and every one of them. If I had known you were serious... :|
@Marrend: We forgive you because it's littering your own game page/the page of a person who doesn't mind. If it had been reported by the owner then you would have been in trouble but they seem not to mind so... if you do it in the forums, though, I shall have to give you my personal stamp of disapproval. Also? It's not a sig. Do take care not to go overboard, though. If they're long-ass posts, a hide tag will help (and give people the option to just ignore and move to the next post instead).
Signatures are obnoxious and unnecessary. They clog up posts with unneeded shit. I don't care to have you slapping your game in my face every time you make a post. If I want to see your games I will check out your profile.
Other forums do not have our handy-dandy game page system which links your games to your profiles and makes it easy for people to find them, that is part of the reason other forums allow them. Other forums also don't have profiles that allow you to put in all kinds of free-form information, including images and the like.
On RMN profiles are, basically, your signatures. Put what you like on them - as long as they meet site rules we could give a fuck.
tl;dr? Signatures NO. hide tags goood

(I do hate that I'm coming off really mean but honestly, it's pretty easy concept to understand - if the site admin says no
then it means no way, no how, no fucking no goddamnit. They are against the site rules. Just like pornography.
sigs = porn = alt accounts. Not allowed. No. No Nonononooooo!)
