RMNVERSE BATTLEDOME 5 - COMPLETE!
Posts
Oh well, here ends my part in this tournament... :(
Just so you know guys, Moira is still sending her mooks (who are probably going to be defeated) against Kona. After all, she still has a job she wants to keep! :P
P.S. : Dudesoft, I assume we recieve our badges at the end of the tournament?

You betcha! All will be divvied out in the end! Only a couple weeks more.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Explain to me how we have 21 contestants and only 13 people voting? A third of the people who entered the contest aren't even participating?

Sounds like RMN to me
Aw LockeZ, your robot got defeated by votes! Ah well, I was already prepping a strategy to attempt to handle you. What were the robots you theorized could defeat you?
Also, interesting battle! The terrain will definitely afford more unique battles.

Several of the robots had an anti-theft device, ranged weapons with lots of ammo, and more energy than me, which was really all you needed to nullify my turtling strategy. I expected to lose if I fought them. My robot was almost impenetrable when I first made it, but then Dudesoft added anti-theft devices to the list of possible items, which made things more fair.
I thought Kentona's stupid strategy was guaranteed to lose because he would have to get through thirty energy shields before he could land on my head. I admit his gouch-knuckling strategy was hilarious, though. I just didn't think that humor was supposed to be part of the voting criteria. Now I know!

I always assumed that energy shields blocked energy attacks. Like lasers and beam swords and shit.

also, +1 to Salt World. Gave me a chuckle.
author=LockeZAnd when I had to face you that's when I realized that the fight wasn't with your robot, but with the hearts of the voters. Because you have to admit your robot is ridiculous.

Salt World is great.
And with the trends of votes I kind of knew I was going to lose to seiromem. Ah well, at least it wasn't a complete sweep.

Hmm, I had assumed an energy shield was a forcefield around you. I guess your idea makes sense too.
Hey Dudesoft, I you get the Strategies Early, Can we fight sooner? I'm looking forward to kicking some Bee-hind.

And so concludes the Battledome.
So I am making some progress on my Battledome simulator. I am working out the basics of attacks, battlers, and weapons. Attacks can be evaded, blocked, parried, intercepted (parry+counterattack), missed, critical, fumble (the opposite of critical). Still working on some things like disarming, lifesteal, energy steal, stuns, and multiple attacks in a row.
Maybe I'll make a new thread for this, if people are interested

Tickle me interested. I wanted to run a MEGAMAN.EXE style battle dome in the past, but dropped it for story purposes. This would be pretty awesome for such a storyline.

Patience, young padawan! I want all the fights at once for two reasons: it doesn't dissuade focus from each fight, and it would be all over the place for my workload. This lump voting has vastly improved on my previous, clumbsy attempts at single battle votes.

Regardless of theme or type of Battledome to come along next time, I'm going to set aside some time to write up a list of equipment/upgrades that don't rest so innocently in the realm of vague imagination. While there may end up being loopholes and game breaks; it will make for a more technical and arguable experience... I left the list mostly alone for this URB, because the imagination factor can be really played on. But, then you get unanswerable questions about how things work against other things. It's left up to how the person can justify/argue it.

There are terrains now! Now I can't wait for the next URB.
I only left the first two rounds blank because I wanted to build up security in the robot vs robot approach of combat. This variable stops the predictability of how a fight will go. Throws people through a loop (myself included because it was a last minute decision. Had no idea I'd be tossed where I was. Randomly assigned!)
It's also fun for flavour. Changes things up. Started doing it during the last Battledome Fight Fest, to a lesser degree.
Each one of the events gets more and more complicated!
TICKTOCK!!!
One more sleep until the deadline for Battle Plans! I'll post the polls tomorrow after work.
(Which may be later than 5EST, because I need to get pet food on the way home.
