@Liberty:
das a wonderful map. I feel like you've really figured out how you're supposed to use those shoreline tiles perfectly. But why is that river (top middle) so insane? It might be a swamp or something, but it sure looks like a river that is running in every direction simultaneously.
It's supposed to be something of a marsh/swamp/fen - water-based intertwinning rivers. It might be a bit much though. XD

Some wetlands are actually like that, but its hard to convey on sprite maps. *Lives near wetlands, watch feet in woods or go sploosh.*

Maybe add some big ol' weeping willows, marsh reeds, and so many frogs...It might help people who don't know wetlands to identify it better. Not sure if anyone has made any weeping willows/marsh trees tho.

To make players see the map again, just make them get on the boat! Boat travel to Swamptown 50g, meals included. >.> The carrot would be treasure, monster hunts, or hidden quest.
That's the world map. Actual in-area map would, of course, be different.
I'd suggest giving the grass there a different colour (or use a different tile altogether). At least, the ones near the "rivers". Marshes look darker overhead, and are mostly covered in all sorts of plant life. Alternatively, you can overlay some of the trees on top of parts of the river, to give it that 'overgrown shallows' look.

You could also add ponds or small lakes of sorts, though that might not end up looking as good in a map of this scale.
I do not want to get bogged down with a billion edits for a map you'll see once in the whole game. It's bad enough I went crazy with the shift mapping! XD
It never hurts to have more detail (>w<)b

I support the idea of darker grass.

Looks very nice otherwise libert!

It does when there's the rest of the game to create. orz
If I have time I'll come back to it and see about finding a decent way to darken that area. Maybe just a transparent picture over the top of it.

Or I could do it earlier than that. Good thing I got this done before the blackout. ^.^;
Like the new edit, Liberty! I still can't figure out for the life of me what that brown thing above the town and between the mountains is.

@ramshackin 2.0: Really nice map! It seems a little small though, I'm sure that's not the entire dungeon is it? One thing I'd point out is that the vine climbables are a little hard to spot on their own, some kind of marking on the floor would make them way easier to see methinks. It could be anything from a little dirt patch to darker grass, just make it flash out a little more. I really like your green grass blending with the more blueish grass too!

Thanks for the compliments! Don't worry, it's not the entire dungeon, just the first room :p
And good call on making the vine climbables easier to spot.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

It's a shipwreck on dry land. Or maybe a wooden version of the Sydney opera house.

(I assume it makes sense once you enter it.)

Looks like a hole lol
@Liberty:
Haha holy shit I am sorry I didn't realize my comment about the swamp would generate a whole page of people trying to convince you to put in more work for a barely-seen region! Are you considering having a conventional worldmap now that you have put in all this extra (extra) work?

Also the edits are very convincing, it is a perfect swamp now.

Looks much better libs!

That brown thing does look like a shipwreck on land indeed. I guess it could also be a tiny crescent mountain?
Its even more swampy now! Disgruntled people of the wetlands approve. So do all the frogs and ducks.

Its a...ghost ship! Or the wreckage of a ghost ship. Population 333; assorted Boos, aparitions, ghosts, poltergeists, and one very creepy gothic lolita girl.
...it's supposed to be a gully. BACK TO THE EDITING STATION!

or I might just put back the hole I edited it from. At least people weren't asking if it were a ship or something.

Though come to think of it, an ancient land-locked ship would be kinda cool as a dungeon. Especially if the bow and stern of the ship were apart from each other and had a cave or something like that connecting the two.

Oh, is this a feedback thread?

Its prolly fine if you show it off Red. I mean, its not like its a /Secret To Everyone/. >.> Hehe, but I for one would like to see it.

I'll post a screenshot of my dealy in a few days. Still putting stuff in the database, writing, etc. Rather important, but not much to look at.
Eh, I just tossed it up in the Winterruption thread considering YEP Grid-Free Doodads was a subject. (Here it is again) I've got a map consisting of some Doodad material (in the back-half I believe), in fact, fun fact about that, I stress tested the Plug-In on a similar map with over 2,000 hand-placed doodads, just to see where the FPS break-point was at on my laptop...

It handled it surprisingly well...
