author=CashmereCatI meant no offence, and if a whole game is rendered in that manner, I can p/much assure you it'll be a hit.
Cheers, Bizarre. It's just my lack of artistic drawing talent showing, haha. Scribbles? It'll do :)
It's funny, the further you divest from the "RPG-maker" look, the more intriguing games become.
Screenshot.

Fixed train height and position.
Removed ugly shadow beneath 'hover-class' sprites.
Also the bossfight itself is pretty much complete, just have to add the death scene and bugfix.
Damn BM, you post A LOT here. Ever thought about making your own topic?
We really aren't getting anything new from your game.

Lol yes, I've resigned to no more than one showy display a page, and let's be frank not all of them are showy, and this last one was particularly lazy, more or less a slight rehash of the last, I'll keep updates with that level of complexity (or better stated; lack thereof) to a minimum.

Lol, that's subjective tbh. Plenty of 'traditional' games look great, and I can think of a few hideous experiments...
On the other hand, this shot actually has a nice atmosphere, but the cat portrait makes it more comical than anything. Lmao I think that's what you were going for though?
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

That cat is, like, Yogg-Fuzz'mittens, Flameduke of the Silent Deep, He who Surveys Sinners from Within the Hat Box

I have grass and trees working now as well. Next is other biomes. Desert, snow. then I might try and deal with cities and villages ect
author=BlindmindLol, yeah that's fair, though more outlandish looking ones tend to have a higher rate of being not-shit, at least from what I've found.

author=BlindmindThe cat is indeed comical, but that portrait in particular is a placeholder.

author=LockeZAhahahahaha, nice.

That just reminded me of something like you'd hear in Dungeons of Dredmor.
Totally gonna use that as a line in the game.

Looks pretty neat grindalf.so what is it for..?
Thanks. It will be a procedurally generated 3rd person rpg. Im thinking of not having building in the normal minecraft sense as I really don't want to make a minecraft clone. This will be more like Cube World than anything else.
Everything in the game is procedurally generated, including textures.
author=BlindmindThat's really nice, except the grass pattern around the middle is dangerously repetitive.
Messing around. good pixel trees are hard to come by..
Outside of that, I've got nothin'.
It's not so much that it's repetitive but that it doesn't break the illusion of blocks. The other grass looks less like there are squares of it, but that grass just looks like the mapper used a fill tool. It's the difference between:
xxxxx
xxxxx
xxxxx
xxxxx
and
xcvcx
vxcxv
xcvcx
vxcxv
You know it's mapped based on squares but it's harder to see them straight out if you're not deliberately looking, whereas with the grass in that image, you can easily see the grid.

Well, some tiles have more noticeable patterns than others. For example, I think the pattern is more noticeable in this one for artistic reasons I don't know, except to say it looks like there is exactly one tuft of grass every tile, and it's somehow more noticeable than the normal grass tiles.
However, in this case, it looks kind of pretty so I don't mind it.

Yeah, it's because the tile that Treasure of the Rudras uses for grass has all of the highlights clumped in the middle and the shadows/mid-tones left near the edges. It's pretty much a pretty looking grid tile.
