SCREENSHOT SURVIVAL 20XX

It is a bit too garish isn't it. fortunately, the window background, and window border are two separate things, so changing that won't be a problem! Thanks for pointing it out.
@Schwer-Do you mean like this?
That's what I usually do, but using arrows seemed more realistic since doors don't always curve like that in real life.
@Pyramid-Whoops... Yeah it was possible to see without the flashlight but I made it darker and now almost nothing is visible when the flashlight is turned off unless you have brightness at max. I might make it a little brighter since it bothers me too.
I should also showcase some systems with gifs. Who doesn't like gifs?
The game features pulling as well as pushing, so when you are stuck you won't get out of the room and re-enter to teleport the event back to it's place(that's a little unrealistic anyway).
Your flashlight can be turned on by pressing A and turned off by pressing S. The flashlight is old, so sometimes it will glitch out when your turn it on and start flashing, in which case you will need to turn it off and back on to fix it.

@Frogge: Oh, no! I'll try to show you what I mean. Excuse me for changing your screenshot!
The colours are off, of course, but I think you can see what I'm trying to show. The player would know immediately that there is a door and it is a minimal amount of effort that fills the room up, too.
@Pyramid_Head: No problem! If you want to consider what would look good in terms of colour brightness etc, you could also always search for colour palettes online. =)

Ooooh I see! Yeah that could be good :) I'll implement that, thx for the idea :D
*Edit*
Does this look fine?

(I also made it so that arrows can be turned off from the menu but didn't set up all arrows to be turned off yet)

This looks fine! I'd make the side of the door a little bit darker than the top so that it look more like a door, but otherwise it looks pretty good. And I like that the arrows can be turned off, that's a neat feature! =)
author=Schwer-von-BegriffAlright, I made it a little darker :) Also, thanks! I also have it so that brightness can be adjusted too. I'm aiming for a game that will be similar to 3D horror games like amnesia or outlast(just with way less jumpscares). It's probably going to be short(30 minutes maybe?)but if it turns out like I want, I may release it on steam for 50 cents-ish. That is, if I get through greenlight ofcourse lol.

Thanks for the help! :D
EDIT: So, is this good?
I like what you did with the cliffs, but the rest of the tileset suggests the water is only a few pixels deep. Depending on how deep the water is meant to be, it can help to add more depth to the other tiles or adjust the cliff bottoms to be more shallow.

Here's a swamp I made, complete with bio-luminescent plants and subtle lighting effects:
What do you guys think? Most swamps in games are pretty boring and drab, so I tried to spice things up a bit and make it more fantastic. I think swamps have so much unused potential when it comes to aesthetics.
I always fall in love with the look and feel of glowing plants :D
Although in your screen, the plants feel less like they're glowing, and more like they have some light source in the general area. Any way to give the plants more shine?

I got imgur to work again, so I'm probably gonna share a whole bunch of screenshots. Here's one from a project I wanna go commercial with.
That tileset is awesome.

I love the concept of this. I know there is going to be that moment where it's flashing when a monster is coming at you. Very nice idea!
Please make that shit lighter, ffs. There's nothing worse than people making these 'lights' in a horror game and then making them worthless.

Here's a quick test run of some graphics made for a project of mine! Ignore the Earthbound stuff, those are placeholders.
The head bobbing in down-face looks weird, especially since the other directions are a full-body bob. If you're gonna make the head bob in one direction, it needs to bob in all the directions.
I like the style, but I feel you need a bit more contrast with the ground (and maybe between skin/hair and shirt/arms). is that the earthbound grass or your own? maybe a bluer grass would help make her(?) pop out.

Yup. I made it lighter now since it bothered me too.

That looks fun to watch XD Although, yes I made it brighter now.
This is what it looks like with the flashlight off

And tbh, I can see that at minimum brightness so someone who has their monitor brightness at the middle should easily be able to see it.
Ummm no. I can clearly see everything with the flashlight off, and my monitor's brightness is at darkest.
Maybe it's different when it's in fullscreen.
I've got my brightness settings all the way down and I can't see anything, but on the normal settings I can sort of get a fuzzy image of the room if I look hard enough.

Maybe it's just me, but on first sight, I can't see a thing, Frogge. I had to take a closer look to actually see everything. And my monitor is close to its brightest.
Hmm either I have super human sight or my computer is brighter at minimum than some other people's. How about this? Any better? I'm going to leave it bright like this I think, and have it so that the game can be made darker from the options, so everyone can be satisfied.

*Edit*
Tried something else with the flashlight.

Planning to blur the white a little more.
