HAUS'S GENERAL ART THREAD

DAY 70

Another one of these Blanzhardia dresses. I think I'm going to do the remaining 5 like this because this is pretty good practice, or at least, something different and challenging. I can't just draw armor all the time after all, though this does still use an aesthetic I'm very comfortable with.
DAY 71

A bit more conservative than the previous two but then again she looks kind of scary as a result. I feel like my anatomy work might be improving with each one, or at least I'm taking more time to get things right, but it still needs a lot of work. When this is over I might just practice drawing bodies and things nonstop and paint clouds in between or something.
DAY 72

My cool gray markers came in and naturally I had to test it on this guy. Unfortunately I don't have the exact shade of red orange I use on the sprite, but at least it looks close. These two drawings are two separate redesigns done over 2 days. The first one was done while leveraging the historical/practical knowledge I had learned recently regarding armor. The second one was redesigned the next day after my coworker (someone very well-informed on this kind of thing) made suggestions on what to fix. The changes are ultimately minor but are a huge deal to me since this character is my practical realistic armor character. Note that the 2nd one still wears the same cape and partial skirt-tabard thing as the first one, though I'll have to figure out how to make the cape work with the sword breakers (the flared parts of the pauldrons). Also note that the armor skirt on the 2nd one is supposed to be brigandine, but it ended up looking like a plaid skirt the way I shaded it. Beh.
DAY 73

My initial set of 12 markers came with both a pink and a magenta and I thought that was a bit ridiculous as there was only one shade of blue. Then I remembered I had a character who could, in fact, use those colors, so this happened!

This design is of course far less realistic than the one before it but I'm not too concerned. Moreover this character is a sorceress so there's all kind of magic and magic shields and whatnot going on. This drawing is overall pretty sloppy though so I need to work on making my lines and coloring overall cleaner.
DAY 74

Been a slow week so here's some stuff. The first one is an attempt at making a new logo for our game(s). There may be more ideas to throw out but I like how it is so far. The second is a bunch of random ideas for new enemies for Ruin Frontier 0. The third is a cross-section of the tower-shaped arcology of Convergence showing the logic-defying interior "world" of it which I haven't done any good illustrations of yet. This was actually more a test of how markers would work on this sketchbook (they bled through pretty badly, lol).
Those two characters in armour look really neat. Cool colour schemes.
DAY 75

Not a particularly huge showing today, but actually being able to finish a drawing on a Monday is difficult as of late so I'll take it. I decided I'd go back to doing pencil sketches of characters for a bit since my current selection of marker colors kinda limits my color schemes.
DAY 76

Actually did these over a couple days, but wanted to try more armor. Like before, both of these are actually magic users as well. The 2nd one is the same ghost lady you've seen numerous times on this thread before, except in this case I wanted to give her sorcerer plate to see what it'd look like. Looks interesting but the coloring is very rough. The eye patterns are supposed to be glowing magic stuff but my attempt didn't work out so well. At least I'll know not to try that again.
DAY 77

More characters I dug out of the endless pile of original characters I have. These two are actually not so obscure but still were in need of drawing. I think I generally like these pencil sketches more due to speed and overall look over the marker ones since I'm still very rough with the markers. Since I'm trying to throw down more character designs, this might stick around for a while.
DAY 78

Drawings have been slow to come recently, and that's a real shame, especially when there are characters THIS fabulous that need drawing.
DAY 79

Since the last two characters were undead I figured I'd continue the trend. Whereas the last two are probably the most undead-looking undead characters I have, these two ladies are certainly the least undead-looking undead characters I have. They have been provided with very sophisticated and well-crafted artificial bodies and are virtually indistinguishable from the living, though they are just as dead as the last two guys. Also it may be noticeable but I was terrible at drawing faces today.
DAY 80

DAY 81

I've got 2 days here because I drew these on 2 separate days but failed to post them in a timely fashion. Continuing the previous trend, here are three more undead characters from my roster, these ones in particular being three out of six major bosses in a story/game I have.
DAY 82

Been falling behind recently so it's a good thing I was able to draw something today, and boy what a thing it was. I forgot to write her name here (Avelaine the Flesh Queen) but this is yet another undead boss character and is someone who in this setting has such a mastery over the weaving of flesh and bone that they can change their form at will. To that end you'll see two forms here, a sexy seductive normal form and a rather horrible battle form. The 2nd picture is what she'd probably look like when confronted while she's hooked up to the titanic flesh monstrosity she controls. I haven't drawn any of these horrible fleshy things in a long time so it was a fun exercise as always.
author=Sated
The "monster" form in that first image reminds me a lot of Kerrigan from Starcraft.

You're definitely not wrong with making that parallel. I honestly tried to not make her look too much like Kerrigan but unfortunately it ended up that way. Not a huge issue, I can always redesign it later when I finally get to making this story anyway.
DAY 83

Been slacking in the past couple weeks so I got back into it in a big way. I decided I'd do more marker drawings and since these gold-armored ladies are some of the few things I can pull off decently with my limited selection of markers, I went and did more. I didn't do so well on the faces so I actually had to touch their faces up digitally after scanning them.
DAY 84

Here's 2 more, only 2 remaining and then I'll have to go figure out what to draw that isn't these characters again!

Then this happened:

I've gotten rusty since I haven't drawn a new sprite in ages (the RF 0 work was mostly edits). This looks decent enough I suppose, but now I think I'll do the other 6.
DAY 85

Well I finished drawing all seven as far as these marker pictures but I seem to be on a roll with these sprites. I am definitely fired up to finish the rest of them, and perhaps even sprite up other characters after that.
DAY 86

Work has been slow recently what with stupid things happening at work and Starcraft 2 taking my attention away, but here's some more (of the same). The first drawing is a friend's character but with an outfit based on that familiar aesthetic, felt like drawing her something since she recently drew something for me.
DAY 87

I've been REALLY bad with updating, or keeping up with my drawing as a whole. This was actually started right after the one of the same character above but I fell off the wagon for like a week and only now finished it. At this point you're probably saying, go color something else that isn't red/gold. I would, but I've only got 24 markers and half of them are grays, so I'm seriously lacking on different shades of the same hue. Of course I should try doing grayscale, that could work.
