Poor Ottawa, they just can't get into playoff level hockey. Montreal's skating circles around them by the time the third period starts.

Well, the Sens got into the playoffs on a prayer and a wing, and are playing a team with legit shot at the cup, so it's playing out as expected.
Oh absolutely. There's always the hope that the underdog pulls through but no amount of Eye of the Tiger is going to save Ottawa at this rate!

So with Winnipeg’s loss last night by the hands of the Anaheim Ducks, they are officially out of the playoffs (and so too is most of my bracket).
Both Kentona and UPRC are the only ones that predicted Anaheim would win the series, so they each receive 2 points!
I have just updated the leaderboard standings and the bracket as of right now.

Ottawa managed to hang on but more due to Montreal not giving it their all I think. Minnesota got clobbered, every time I changed to watch it St. Louis had scored again and I'd just change back. Hopefully tonight another series ends, and it better not be Nashville!

I’d prefer it both if Vancouver and Nashville could hang on and make things a little bit more interesting.

So with the Rangers overtime victory last night over the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1, the Penguins are officially eliminated from the playoffs! Let us all now bow our heads and shed a tear for them... :(
- And with that, Kentona, who is 2-0 so far in these playoffs, GreatRedSpirit and Addit all receive 2 points each. Since the Rangers won in 5 games, Addit receives a bonus point! (Yaaaay!!!)

‘Tis was a fantastic series. I give Calgary full credit for coming back when it was 3-0 in the 1st period for the Nucks. I was pretty sure that the Canucks had this game in the bag at the time, even when Sbisa made it 4-3 in the 2nd, but those pesky Flames just wouldn’t quit and ended up coming out ahead.
I’m a bit sad that the Canucks are out now, but I’m still glad that they had a good season overall after a disappointing one last year. The goal was to make the playoffs this year, and that’s what they ended up doing. The future is definitely looking a lot brighter for this team with some of the younger guns, like Horvat, Kenins, Sbisa and Eddie Lack leading the way, so there’s no point getting all disappointed about what happened tonight. :)

The 3-0 lead wasn't the worst part, it was still early in the game and we had some good chances that we couldn't finish or fine defense play shut down. 3 goals on 4 shots wasn't pretty though. There was the part in the second where it looked like we ran out of juice, iced it half a dozen times, and had to take a time out that put me on edge. Thankfully Calgary found a fresh battery and made a great third period to finish it.
I'm fucking ecstatic Calgary is a third period team now. Years back the third was always the most apprehensive because the Flames would quit and go home during the second intermission. Before I'd cheer for Calgary as the home team but now I'm cheering for them because they have a faster, harder game that's way funner to watch.

Seriously, though, I picked the Blues because I though they could go deep (like I have the last 5 years) and they never do. They seem like a team built for the playoffs, too. I am happy that Minny won! I wanted Minnesota to win (because Holbert lives there now), I just didn't expect them, too.
This is the first year in forever in which I could legitimately cheer for any team. Even the Habs (I am one of the 14 people in Canada who does not have strong feelings for them either way).
Go Isles! Win in 7! I need the extra points.

I've never been able to follow The Blues, as much as I follow hockey (I watch and enjoy it and know the rules but ask me about names or history and I just draw blanks). They're there, they're a decent team, but it's just total filler for hockey in my mind. Can't even laugh at them for being a hockey team in the middle of Arizona!
Anyways, go Islanders! Shut down the Capitals! I want a New York / New York series!
