Does anyone remember the rules on using outside resources for IGMC? Those would be perfect a smaller game.

Oh wow. Is that the work of the guy that did the Old School Modern pack? It looks similar. if it is then I'm definitely going to look into it once I get home.

The rules last year were you can use them if they're for commercial use or you own them. Is the IGMC coming around soon? Groovy.

It seems to be tentatively starting around June. I can't wait.

Those sprites are good and have this awesome nostalgia factor. I like seeing the RPG Maker 2000 RTP sprites in this style. It's cool and really could help diversify the styles seen in VXA.
Those tiles are really underwhelming by comparison though. They're not terrible, they're just not up to par. It's very easy to see many of the SNES games that were used as a reference to create many of the tileset graphics, ranging from Secret of Mana, Rudra, and some Mac and Blue here and there. Palette's pretty weird, black levels are really high and the forest tree texture looks too much like a craggy cliff. These don't cost money, do they?
I agree re: palette. I've been editing a lot of them as I fiddle around. The trees are oddly blue, for example... it doesn't work with the grass.
I don't see a lot of rudras influence except for maybe the desert fortress, but secret of mana for sure. I mostly see SoM/Lufia 2 as the inspirations, maybe a bit of the DQ3 remake for SNES.
The tiles, I feel, are actually pretty okay... maybe like B+ or A-. I hope there is more variety in the future. Degica has released expansions to all the other tile sets so far, so I'm confident this will get more. Before work I was doing some edits to make a more blood-red forest and better tables/chairs and such.... I'm not good at making additions from scratch though, so I really hope we get some snowy area tiles, port city tiles and some more interior stuff. We need kitchen implements!!!!! (I could use tiles from the aforementioned games, and I'm sure some people will. Not my thing though.)

You know what's really annoying to deal with in the standard RTP? Battle Animations. While the defaults are somewhat okay, unlike RM2K, VX Ace bends over backwards to ensure you can't make your own animations that look good using the defaults.
Also, the RTP really needs more biomes.

I also have seen loads of people offering to make all sorts of RPG Maker assets, but animation isn't one I've seen offered yet. In the future I'll probably make all my own animations for a game or something, but having made a few animation sheets, it's a real lengthy process for me XD
And yeah, I'd totally buy some new animation packs. A sci-fi one would be awesome, as would be just an alternative to the RTP.

JosephSeraph does good animations.
Edit: A month ago he said he'd release them as a pack. I'll bump him to see if he has time. He's very busy lately.

Oh yeah, I forgot! He does some really nice ones! Thanks for reminding me ^_^
If you check out the ReStaff packs, there's a bunch of animations in them. I won't say they're amazing but they exist.
That said, I have a few issues with that pack in that the tiling is pretty meh. Ground tiles don't break the square tiling and it's been made pretty lazily in some areas. Trees need some edits and there's a lot of black outlines. That said, it's better than most other packs so...
I mean, the DS/DS+ packs and their spin-offs are pretty neat and Caz (and others, but mainly Caz) keeps adding to them in amazing ways.

Personally I've come to favor mack for adults, while using the chibi sprites for children, thus not only giving a distinguishable hieght difference, but more grace to the taller folks.
Finding a game without chibi sprites in VXace isn't easy, given there is so much that incorporates them now, that said I'm more than certain said games exist.
