@YM: Except I wasn't aware it was bad or insulting to call a mobile an iPhone or that it hurt the mobile's feelings, made it feel bad about itself or the like. Geez. It's a fucking telephone. It doesn't give a shit what it's called. You're trying to make a mountain out of a molehill over someone calling a mobile an iPhone. :/
For the longest time in my house, whenever we wanted to play video games as a family, we'd just say "want to play Nintendo?"
author=CorfaisusExactly! My mum's the same - she calls any gaming system a Nintendo (or Gameboy.)author=LibertyFor the longest time in my house, whenever we wanted to play video games as a family, we'd just say "want to play Nintendo?"

My little cousin calls every TV a Plasma (because he only has a Plasma at home and his mum calls it that (she's very wealth-concious :/ ))
My niece calls all phones iPads (well, Hipads. She is only 3.)
I call mobiles iPhones because everyone in my house has one and so when they refer to a mobile, every time it's an iPhone they're referring to. Even the house phone gets called an iphone on occasion. XD
It's just a word that is used in placement for another. Jargon. Alternate, personal terminology. It doesn't hurt anyone so I don't see the issue.
My girlfriend from the Deep South (and apparently everyone else from that region) calls all carbonated beverages 'Coke'. It's adorable and infuriating at the same time.
I guess it's like Aussies calling chips chips. Like, hot chips and crunchy chips. Chips. Just chips. ^.^

It's more aimed at the replies by emmych, pizza and your original post (which was a bit antagonistic, equating the act of stoning people with not liking gay marriage).
I've clarified in my post, though, that it was aimed at a few, not everyone.
Thanks. I have good reason for being shocked about that revelation. I don't see how stating that it makes me uncomfortable is being antagonistic.
Just being honest with my wtf moment.
Edit: If we're talking about colloquialisms, being from Newfoundland meanx I call pretty much everything a combination of gawks and curse words.

I can confirm: all cokes are coke, especially coke.
it's very concerning that the lives of queer people are subject to such debate
like, their very existence and whether or not they are deserving of the same rights as others is a debate people everywhere are having, like it's somehow an option to deprive them of it?
i understand the need for rational debates & etc but come on...
if you want to outlaw same-sex marriage the only secular way (that i can think) of doing that is getting rid opposite-sex marriage too aka making them not recognizeable by the gov't and not eligible of privileges from the gov't and therefore making it strictly religious or at least not tied to government. that way at least everyone has it or doesn't. otherwise banning same-sex marriage makes no real sense? i dunno.
i think the ruling was an awfully bold flex of muscle from the supreme court, but justified regardless. the advancement of queer rights is viewed as a facet of progress so marriage equality is just one step towards it.
also, all arguments from religious standpoints are pretty much invalid. legalizing same-sex marriage through our secular government requires no consideration of their opinions truly because it doesn't inhibit the ability of others to practice their religion.
what it comes down to is how moral others perceive same-sex marriage to be and whether or not marriage should even be recognized by our government. i'm gonna guess ppl like libertarians and what have you would rather government not recognize our marriages while more authoritarian alignments would have the opposite be true. i'm rambling at this point bye

EDIT: I'm still just messing around. Please don't ban me
I know this was already dealt with, but I have to say it.
I don't particularly agree with CashmereCat opinion, but I'm pretty pissed off that a few people were so offensive and tried to get him out of this topic for voicing his point of view in a polite way.
Also, major props to JosephSeraph for being so happy all the time :P

"NeverSilent: most of those allegedly "good" sides of that person were deliberately set up as PR"
The same can be said for a lot of the bad stuff. Not that I agree with that person either.

Also, I'm only allowed to borrow the ban-hammer when it comes to bots or when bossman tells me to 'skitch'. Thortona doesn't like it being out of his sight for long.

one person told him to get out. that person is also gay.
dress it up however you want but you can only be so polite when you're basically stating 'your lifestyle is an abomination.'
i don't know the sexualities of everyone on either side but it's pretty easy to police someone's tone when you don't have a dog in the fight
Some are gay, some are bi, some are pan, some are a, some are straight and some are all over the place. There, now you know~ ^.^

Which basically translates to: you're not gay and therefore your opinion is meaningless in this matter.
+1 for equality!
maybe if you're using that translator that translates things in 20 different languages before giving you the final result
actually i got this result after 22 translations
"That's interesting, but it is not easy fighting dogs are not the police. "
which i personally agree with, so you must be using something worse
