I am down for that. Okay, how to do this? Should we just send donations to RMN with a tag for kentona MV? Or one of us pool it and just buy it for him?

Either one would be fine, I think. Probably the donation to RMN marked "kentona MV" would probably be easiest, and then he can get the program at his leisure. I should probably start a thread like kentona did for anky :3
Ace is a far better engine in terms of quality design and scripting.
I'm not impressed at all at what MV has to offer.

being able to have the database and a script open at the same time

or multiple scripts at the same time

is pretty sweet

edit: help i can't stop making player graphic options for CHAINSAW PARTY

Also entirely possible in Ace where they finally added the ability to load external scripts was added! It was a fucking godsend

Also is the RTP music just... really small this time around? There's only 18 tracks compared to Ace's and VX 42, XP's 64, and 2k and 2k3's combined 141. There's also Theme 1, 2, and 6 but no 3-5 which is weird.

There's a folder called "base resources" in your DLC folder that comes with the game and that's where all the other music is. The official reason is something like "IF we put all the music in, the filesize of projects would be ridiculous"

look in the Base Resources folder. there's like thirty more.
Aw, I would have participated, but the MV trial just shows a white screen after trying to start it up. It's fine showing me the "you can get the actual version any time~~" screen, but continuing on gets me nada!

For those of you who didn't pre-order:

Steam still has MV for 10% off until Oct 30.

Each DLC is no longer free.
Each one costs 9.99 for a total of 19.98 for both.

Edit:

Reviews make it apparent that the HTML / Android Function is not complete.
Requires several steps and different programs to make it work.
English version not complete and crashes.
This seams like trickery and false advertising by the publisher.

Stick with Ace until this is resolved and more plugin support is made.

Whelp, I'll give them some 2 weeks to fix it as that's the max amount of time one can go before Steam wont give you a refund. Past that, I'll just get it again when all's better for the ~$8 more it'll cost

Though I knew about that Android part already; download was waaay too small to already have something like the Android SDK/NDK already included (which I've got somewhere on one of these drives..)

That's a bit troubling, as the mobile support was a big selling point for a lot of people. Hopefully it'll be addressed soon.
I told myself I wasn't going to buy this but then it came out on pay day in the same week I got a raise at work so the temptation was too real.

Canadians should definitely look to steam if you're going to purchase. It cost me $79 on there after the 10% off rather than $105 on rpgmakerweb.

Excited for the MV event :D
I enjoy the fact that it's much easier to exclude the RTP files from projects than it was before. While there were workarounds for Ace, you can now pretty much pick and choose what you want to keep. I was very worried at first that it would be the "all or nothing" case again like it was for Ace. And with the MV RTP being 400-ish MB, I was relieved to find this increase flexibility.

My big thing right now is the performance issues. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like the games run a bit more janky than they did in Ace, and character movement isn't always fluid. It's especially noticeable in areas where you've implemented random encounters. Menu transitions and menu-related sound effects seem slightly delayed on occasion, too.

The editor feels unresponsive at times, especially when registering right-clicks.

MV has been an overall splendid upgrade from Ace in a lot of ways. But there's just little things here and there that makes it feel like they might have rushed it a bit.

EDIT: And yeah, I know it's not technically called RTP anymore. That habit will drop, don't you worry. :)
I don't think the habit will drop. I mean, we still call them chipsets sometimes. XD

Also, yes, there are some bugs in the system. This is because Japanese are big sticklers for timelines and wouldn't push the release date back to fix them. There will be bug fixes and patches in the future, don't worry. That said, I've only really had two bugs in my 100+ hours worth of play. One is a known bug that will take some time to fix, but it isn't game breaking (basically if you edit an asset you need to restart the engine for the database to acknowledge that that asset has changed.)

The other is a bit of flicker when in the database. Overall, the rest works fine, bar the Android/IOS export, but I'm sure that's being worked on.

The future is now, ladies and gentlemen.

Friendly reminder that we have an active Slack group to discuss RMMV, among other things.

Fortunately the only direction MV can go from here is up - it will keep improving and getting better, much like VX Ace did. That's the great thing about software!

One thing I can say is that I really dig a lot of the music in that BaseResource folder
Does the program have a downloadable free trial version?
