Welp, I've made the protagonists for my MV game. Let's see if I can complete before my trial period ends.
Everlasting Journey characters in MV, lulz:
I gave up trying to make Phillip look like Phillip (no pirate bandanas or wife-beaters wtf), so I made a dumb reinterpretation of him. I'm not actually doing anything serious with this... just for MV plugins and testing stuff out.

MV crashed on me: I left it open overnight in the character generator and when I came back to it it was frozen. I had to close it via the task manager. I think the only other program I had crash like that was Unity.

I'm liking how varied this generator seems to be.
I could if I, you know, had money.
Plus it's fun seeing if I can complete something within the deadline.
I also encountered the controller problem. I have a wired 360 controller, and it works, but not on the title screen. I really like playing with a controller to replicate that old console feel. I wonder why it doesn't work on games' title screen.
Yeah noticed the same thing. It seems you have to hit "A" on the 360 controller before any other button press. It's a little annoying when you are going in and out of the game to test stuff.
There should be a short maybe week-long contest for MV! Hopefully before my trial period expires. & the face generators are actually excellent. Hopefully we can important custom things into it.

Wh-w-WHAT!? Was this thing tested before its release? Did the devs just think that everyone uses the keyboard?
Eh, I guess it's not a big deal, it might be patched soon, but damn I can't live without playing games with proper Xbox 360 joypad support. They complete my MLG headsets! :(

So far I actually really like it. It has the best rtp I've seen so far, and being able to make maps smaller than 15x17(for whatever reason you'd want to do that)is also pretty cool.

Just testet the MV a bit, and even though I'm not going to use it, the character maker could be good if someone makes more stuff for it.

I created a plugin! Hopefully the first of many!

It's a simple plugin to add backgrounds to any menu screen. This existed in the AltMenuScreen2 & AltMenuScreen3 plugins, but they changed the layout of the menus as well... which may or may not be desirable, so I used some of that code as the basis for this. To start with, you can add a global background image to all menus, and then you can define each one individually (overriding the global one). Also supports the KeyConfig & GamepadConfig plugins. I'm working on adding support for the EnemyBook one too, but it's not working yet... and I'm not sure why. *Harumph*

Now wishing there was some kind of "rescan directories" button or something so I don't have to keep relaunching the program just to update assets =3=

Also some thoughts on maps. I had mixed feelings. Some were really bad and some were very good(And a few were flipping epic). For example I thought downtown and floating city were pretty awesome yet the normal town was really lame.
I did submit it as a resource for the site but if anyone wants here's some tiny edits.

I tried out the trial, and...I'm not really feeling it. I ran into a few problems early on, such as ctrl+tab no longer moving around event pages and commands, the middle mouse button can't scroll around larger maps unless you hold it down, animated water tiles lowering the framerate, and the mousewheel feels slow when scrolling up and down the tilesets.
But the main dealbreaker for me is the font rendering. The smoothing effect in the editor gives me some serious eyestrain after a short while, and the faded outline on in-game text looks blurry compared to the sharp portraits and tiles. :<
MV just hurts my eyes too much to use, but oh well. The resolution plugins were interesting to play with, and I liked the modern/sci-fi tiles and this guy's portrait (cute!), but I'm gonna stay with Ace...

I haven't played around to much cause I started just pulling blanks on anything I actually wanted to do but I feel it will be better in the future just right now its a little hard to change tilesizes and everything even with plugins. Then again we're basically doing shattered like this but that's a different story.
Edit: the character generator is better but there is always room for more stuff (mainly outfits seemed a bit sparse) but that's something I'm sure people in the community will step up to as well as it leaves dlc options in thee future for them to sell
