I was just planning another "Let's Talk About Games We Liked This Year" thread. vOv
Maybe you can go ahead and do it then. My other ones have been a bit structure-y and maybe it'd benefit from a new organizee. All I do is just supply information about the year's popular/well-reviewed games and give my predictions for each category and let the wheels spin from there.
I've nominated about half of the categories. I tend to play a game and if I like a particular aspect of it or think it was done well I then check the Mis page to see if there is a category for that and hit the button, it's an ongoing process for me that takes the course of the year, but I rarely nominate for every category since I don't always find something that is suitable.
Though the new ones this year do take a little more consideration since they're not an immediate response to a game.
Writing reviews really helps with this process too, because If I do run across multiple games in the same category I have copious notes to refer back to to compare the competing games.

Haven't gotten around to it.
Anyway aren't we waiting for
Or Unity to release the game that will kill everything.
What I played this year that I will likely nod:
Brave Hero Yuusha
Nora's Tale
Listen
I just went through the list of games and checked out all the ones I've played this year, then nominated. I'm finicky in that I won't nominate the same game more than once (or twice, if it's very good), so it ended up with a decent spread, though I didn't come up with a GOTY yet. Guess I just haven't played a game I thought deserved it so far. ^.^;
I'd recommend going through the event games if anyone is looking for some names to pull. There were a fair few decent ones.

Nah, I do it as an end of year thing. There's two months left and there's two Games of the Year that I'm involved in that aren't up yet!
I need to play more RM games. That's pretty much what it all comes down to for me.
Then again I'm finding it difficult for anything to catch my attention as of late. I'm sure there are so many great games I haven't played from this year, but I hardly acknowledge their existence because of an uninspiring presentation (speaking for myself!).

Afraid I've lost touch with RMN and lost track of all the crazy awesome looking games coming through these days, and as a result have become extremely self-centered in my gam mak.
Also, I barely even have time for my own stuff :(

I think I would need a list of decent game this year. There was like one year where there was a whole pile of stuff, but I'm just not feeling it this year. Even the games I'm looking to nominate for other categories don't feel like Games of the Year.
If nothing else I get the feeling Brave Hero Yuusha will take it.

If no-one else is going to do it, I'll make a topic listing the stand-out games of this year.
Aaaah, I was just thinking of doing it. Should I still do it? This is too confusing and it's like trying not to step on anyone else's toes. I might just post a topic anyway, and if there's already one that exists, we'll make them fight to the death and the weaker one will be obliterated. Good game.
XD
Tell you what, I'll let you take the spotlight but if any games are missing from your list I'll PM them to ya. ^.^)b

I like how we blame people for doing their thing :3
I haven't played enough games here this year to make a reasonable vote, so I'll duck out this year.
Next year though, I'll shamelessly nominate myself for every category. Then, I shall utilise my 'people skills' to gather sheeple from tumblr, twitter, fb, and reddit.
yeah, like that'll ever happen XD

On the topic about a possible restructuring of the Misaos if it continues to slide in popularity or support over the next few years, but what about having a Misao Committee made up of a few RMNers (ones that hopefully play a lot games around here, such as the nhubi’s and the Kylaila’s of the world) and have them just all make a combined list of the top games released that year and just make an announcement of it while providing achievements to the winners for making the best games that particular year? That way winners actually earn something for all their hard work instead of just a small meaningless credit mentioned somewhere on the site. Besides, we give achievements out for featured games and all – so why not achievements for Misao winners? Others can still nominate for what they would like to see get a Misao, but most of the primary decisions would be made from the Misao Committee themselves.
Yeah, even know that the Misaos can sometimes be a complete joke around here about who wins and who should have won and such-and-such, they are still kinda tradition around here and have been for many, many years, and I still get a kick out of seeing who wins and who loses every year. I mean, yeah, it’s mainly a popularity contest and the best games usually never win, but that’s just the nature of the beast, I guess.
I’ll raise you your Brave Hero Yuusha and bet you the entire estate on April Was A Fool.
April is my Secretariat this year.

So, what do the Misaos cover, again? Any game released in 2015?
Technically, any download added in 2015.

This gets brought up every year and isn't likely to work out well for the same reasons that the IGMC takes months to do. Seriously, the Student Council Elections that is the Misaos is probably the most likely setup to allow any sort of timely conclusion.
I don't really see a problem with a silly popularity contest every year, so long as everyone knows it means little in terms of quality and all that. It's just a fun end-of-the-ear thing. :D
It also promotes a lot of discussion that brings good games to light. Even if the winner isn't often of super-high quality, the fact that the best games of the year get discussed and promoted means a lot to me, personally.
I check out a lot of games each year off of the "Offical" Misao Nominations thread, so I find it worthwhile.
