MY SCREENSHOT IS BIGGER THAN YOURS!

That looks super awesome, Blitzen. Now I want to play it. ^.^
@Blitzen: Looks solid! Can't read the menu though.

@Scribble: Like said earlier, can use a bit of shading. The characters look good though! I like the style of them!
That looks really good Blitzen. Reminds me of the pokemon games for the gameboy color.

Thanks, I would have done that but i was in a hurry.

Please rate out 10. :)
I still can't get over how Suikoden barrels and plants are twice the size of RM characters. :(
I'm teasing you, Blind. It still looks fantastic.

Lifelessangel, your maps are too large. You have tons of empty space that nobody is going to explore when they're on those maps. You need to cut the size the maps by 3/4 or something, they are way too big. Fix that for now, since it's the main flaw of those maps.
Pub Screen: It's too big. There aren't enough tables, if you go in to an pub irl it won't like anything like that. It's simply too big and not enough tables and chairs.

Cave Screen: There is way to much open space and not enough detail, there is a much better way of doing the cliff going into the water on that chipset (trust me, there is, i've got that chipset). It looks like a very standard cave, you need something to make it more unique, so players will actually want to explore it.

Forest Screen: OK, so how does the player get from one side of the map to the other? The rocks etc look like they're floating on the map, if you want them to look under the water, put them as an event and tick the transparent box. The forest in general could do with more detail. If your going for a deep forest look, you could also make the trees look thicker. You need to add trees under those canopies too! What about nature, animals?

Quick WIP of ideas:

Town Screen: It doesn't look too bad actually, the buildings are well designed. If you're going for that poor slum feel however, you need them to be closer together, and try and make alley ways etc.

Messing around with tints can change a map completely. Mapping is about atmosphere too.

@Blindsight: I love how there isn't random RTP people.

Ok, the forest is old and I know it's bad.Didn't put alot of effort into it. Can I change the shade of the tiles? Thanks for the underwater tip. :)

The pub, yeah I agree it could use alot more detail. Also past those to events it's sort of VIP only place. I need to close off the entrance a bit.

Cave screen, old too but my best cave(not saying much :P ) I really don't know how to do the water well. Also, I really don't know how I could add more detail.

Town screen, I just edited alot:

Runied or fixed? O.o

If you could find a FF6 like bridge in the first town for me, I'd really appreciate it. I can not find one anywhere...

I'm planning of adding something to not make the part with the road so plain.
No they don't suck, they just need work. I've seen much worse.

Caves aren't really my strong point to be honest, but it's lacking rocks, dirt paths and elevation. Actually though looking at the chipset, its not that great especially with water, you might want to try something else. Heres an (maybe not the best) example of cave detail with a rudra cave. I mainly want you to look at the path, theres dirt, grass and rocks see?

REFMAP grahics that you seem to be using are pretty easy to use, but the cave chipset is annoying thats why I can't show an decent example of it.

The town isn't ruined, but it isn't fixed either. Look at this. (Don't mind if I borrow this do you feld?)

I know you can't really see well with one in game screenshot with a textbox in the way, I'm not saying you have to do this but you should aim for something near that if you can, I suggest giving his game a whirl to see how he's mapped it, I honestly can't find anyone else that used that chipset ANYWHERE. It takes practice if you really want to improve.

I hope I'm actually helping you lol

Stop lying. I don't see many doing the elevation on ceiling tiles, which is a shame. Good job with that map, the aesthetics are great.
Yeah, I think i'll use a different chipset for caves.

About the town, this is a more mountainy area. That shot did help me get a better idea though. The main part of the town is going to be more like that. I did figured out how to use those stairs. How did he flip them? By fixed or ruined I ment Better or worse.

I don't know why I just can't really work well with different layers. layers as in the layers of buildings and tops of the buildings in that town shot.

And yeah your helping me. I remeber when I first posted a screenshot on pure ZC of one of my maps, I got ripped apart. :P

My first map I ever made in ZC:

And, well you can see why. :P
