Since I don't have a fursona I'll wait for Zootopia to come out on video.
I don't have a fursona either but I found Zootopia to be really excellent! ^_^

I also enjoyed Deadpool and the new Star Wars.

I always identified more as a turtle or lizard. Probably due to TMNT.

Independence Day 2. To be fair, I was 13 when the original one released, and it spoke to me like no other movie that summer. Well, except for maybe The Rock.

I was super into Command & Conquer at the time, and the GDI's Ion Cannon superweapon.

Fun fact: I actually identify as a brine shrimp! It is my secret shame.

Unrelated: I got the Command & Conquer Red Alert Domination Pack for Christmas, including the soundtrack CD, which is still in my car CD player to this day. (Different car, same CD.) Warcraft gets a terrible movie this year, but not C&C? A crime.

I identify as a human. :V

Zootopia is interesting in that its plot points are fairly easy to see coming, but its narrative structure is such that it still feels pretty fresh compared to other movies of its ilk. It's also got a good level of nuance to it, which is super refreshing to see.

Also the action scenes are actually laid out to be easy to follow and make sense of, which seems like a rare thing these days. (I will be happy when the trend of unclear action scenes is over. It rarely works as a narrative element.)

The Jason Bourne Effect™

How did I forget this?

Totally going opening night guaranteed.
I believe Fury Road singlehandedly changed that trend. But we'll see if I'm right.

And more movies:

So I went and saw Zootopia tonight. It was really good! I'm glad I decided to get over myself and go. Now I can really feel free to check out some fanart and pick up merch, once I get the chance.

Saw the Angry Birds trailer before the movie. It's hard to believe an Angry Birds movie actually looks worse than I thought it was going to.

It's a really paint-by-numbers cash in from the looks of the trailer; it seems pretty Dreamworksy (though it's done by Sony).

I don't know why you're surprised at its existence, given the fine movie tradition of turning pretty much any popular toy into movies. We got Lego, there was a discussion of a Minecraft movie, Five Nights at Freddy's is in production... why wouldn't you make a cash grab on the license to print money that is Angry Birds?

A FNaF movie is in production? Jesus lord.

And yeah I'm aware of the Angry Birds movie trailer. It seems as run-of-the-mill as Sooz is describing it.
I'm kind of looking forward to this one:

The LEGO Movie happened to be the best movie of 2014, too.

Yeah, that movie actually turned out to be both unique and well-done.

To be fair, trailers don't really do films justice. They kind of use the same, run of the mill ad tactics to get you to watch the film, yet sometimes they kind of misrepresent an actually unique and compelling piece of work.

e:
This one looks interesting. I love the art direction of this film, and I haven't seen an animated fantasy adventure film done in ages. The gags seem a little flat, but I think this one might be worth checking out when it's released.

Yeah, I'm aware Lego has good reviews (I never bothered to see it so have no personal opinion), I'm just saying, if someone can look at freakin building blocks and say, "Yes, this is capable of becoming a profitable movie," there is no reason to be surprised about any other product movie also being greenlit. Hollywood is hella capitalist.

My brain exploded when I found out Five Nights at Freddy's is getting a movie.

I'm not surprised about what's being made these days in general but I mean Angry Birds? It isn't just a game that gets a movie it was a phone game.
And LEGO movie was great, but it also has a human like world and then they took it a step further by adding in a lot of toy sets. LEGOs also has pretty fun games so it makes sense the next step would be a movie which produces more toys and games etc.
Plus it's Lego, i still buy and build those things.
It's not a silly fad like Angry Birds lol

Of course it's a cash grab, maybe LEGO movie is too but not really. They don't have anything to prove and are a household name. They deserve a movie.

Angry Birds, though? Do people still play that game? I feel like they missed the mark on a movie a tad in terms of popularity

Have you been shopping anywhere in the past few years? There's Angry Birds merch all over the damn place.

Merch doesn't equal popularity, at least not in the sense that is Angry Birds. I see Angry Birds merch rotting here?
It's not Star Wars, or Batman/Superman. It's a dumb app game. They are purely a cash grab thing. Just because bullcrap is being produced and put on retail doesn't signify it still being played. World of Warcraft is releasing a movie and it's the lowest it has ever been. Maybe Angry Birds people is trying to do the same with bringing back their shit but it's not going to work.

Angry Birds has a legacy at this point, InfectionFiles. Even if the fad has died down a little, it's still become a part of culture, and marketing is going to milk that.

Take Star Wars, for instance. Before the new movies were even made, there was still merch being produced for the original trilogy, long after the movies were at their prime.

... Not saying AB is as good as Star Wars, mind you.
