HIGHLANDER'S REALM ("D&D" FORUM RPG)
Posts
Well, my highest roll is still 11. "Well, the goddess depicted on the daggers is a Drow goddess, who's name I'll not invoke, which is not a good thing. She's a Drow goddess. The only good Drow goddess I've ever heard of is rumored dead. They were probably trying to summon something from the Demonweb layer of the Infinite Layers of the Abyss." Now I know for a fact it's dangerous for me to be here. They always search for outcasts of the Drow...always. It's difficult to say, but Aldus needs to know. "Aldus, I'm not safe. These priests were dabbling in Lower Realm magic. These are same demons venerated by the Drow. The matron mothers charge these same demons to hunt Drow outcasts like me. Here, I have no doubt we are near a point where such beings have come through. If any are here, they'll notice me."
Gathering a whole kilogram of the salt seems like overkill. I figure about 100 grams would be more than enough.
I look at Leara with unconcealed curiosity. "Every time we speak, I find out something new and interesting. And to think some of the people in Northwatch didn't want to have you in town. Such ignorance.
Regardless, I understand if you're afraid of being hunted - I once had a dream where I was a bow pointed at myself, and I admit that became a little unsettling after a while. But these people, whoever they were, went about it all wrong. And there is hardly any reason to be afraid of demons. When they go after someone, they tend to act exactly the way you weren't expecting. Just don't expect anything, and you're fine.
But if it would make you feel more comfortable, I can conjure something to protect us again. Maybe even a demon, who knows. Wouldn't that be reassuring?"

"When the Handmaidens find a Drow outcast they, usually without exception, beat her into submission and drag her to the matron mothers, who hand her over to the goddess, who turns them into driders--those are bloodthirsty half-drow/half-spider creatures that will kill and eat anything that comes near them. So in the case of the demons that would be hunting me, there's a precedent."
I just look at Leara confusedly and scratch my head a bit. "'Usually without exception'? Are we... still talking about demons?"
"Yes. Handmaidens are servants who do the goddess's bidding, and they hunt outcast Drow for the matron mothers, the priestesses of this goddess. Whether or not it's something they would do on their own, I don't know."
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I don't really feel the need to explore my own home, and I spent several days here already after everyone killed themselves, so I don't really feel the need to do much here. However, I've calmed down by this point and I'll answer any questions you have about my past. Seiromem will have to answer any questions you have about the other cultists or the temple, of course.
(Goodness, that avatar...)
Noticing her distress, I sit down on the ground next to the little elf girl. "Agnelia, you shouldn't worry too much about all this. If what Leara and I gathered is correct, it just means that like everyone else, you have certain powers you don't understand. But unlike most other people, you are aware that you don't understand them. I promise, you will find that knowledge very liberating."
I smile at Agnelia in a hopefully reassuring manner, then ask her: "Now, you can help us by telling us more about this place. What did you usually do here when you were here? And do you know what purpose each part of this building served or might have served?"

Agnelia would know that the four towers are lookout towers, and that the pinnacle is where she was taken for "Spiritual Guidance". The towers also have stairs that connect to a large barracks-like room where the other acolytes slept and food was stored.

Seiromem, am I correct in assuming that the bed surrounded by corpses in the central room is my bed?

"Um, this is where I slept," I say pointing to the large bed on the raised dais in the central room, which is surrounded by corpses. It doesn't occur to me that sleeping in such a place might be abnormal.
"Everybody here took care of me. They taught me and trained me, I learned how to fight with this garotte-whip. And they fed me and brushed my hair and everything. There's a room at the top of the temple where they took me sometimes to get spiritual guidance from Viria."
"Everyone else slept and lived downstairs. You can get there from the lookout towers. That's also where everyone else ate, but there's no food left now. They stopped buying food a couple weeks before... before I left." I manage to keep as much of my composure as could possibly be expected while explaining, but start to tear up again as I finish.

Seeing how Agnelia is clearly feeling uncomfortable right now, I cast Implant Memory on her to grant her a happy and soothing memory: A memory of spending a pleasant and sunny afternoon on the beach under a star-filled sky, watching giant sea monsters play in the (literally) endless ocean.
After doing so, I wait for her to calm down. Once she seems to be feeling better, I point to a random door and start moving towards it, with the intention of finally beginning to explore this weird place.
My Chaotic Magic roll is a 4.

If Agnelia doesn't want that memory, she can make a wisdom saving throw.

Nah, I'll take it.
Follow to the next room.
Follow to the next room.
You go to the south-east door and open it. There is a staircase going both up and down, as well as a small hallway connecting this tower and the next.
I start heading down the staircase unless someone tells me not to.
Do we have any kind of light source, by the way?

People lived here until very recently, I'm sure there are plenty of light sources along the way.
Find and light candles or torches. 16 to perception, +5.
As a Drow, I naturally have infravision, but I don't want any of my friends stumbling in the dark.
