HIGHLANDER'S REALM ("D&D" FORUM RPG)
Posts
I have to finish a game before an important event comes up, so I'm cramming that. Here's this for now:
-----
It's a gigantic, surprisingly well lit room with many bedrolls and tables with various empty cans and boxes. There's a fine grey mist on the floor. There are staircases at each corner and you enter from the northeastern one.

Thanks, Seiromem. Good luck with your game project!
Also, dang, I knew I had forgotten something. I had planned to examine the weird blue flames on the chandelier in the central room of the temple, but then I forgot.
If the lighting in this room comes from that kind of blue fire as well, I want to take a closer look at it. I also want to examine the mist.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Is the mist new, or something that was here when I lived here? I'm assuming it's just water condensation because it's a cold cellar.
I take one of the smaller torches off the wall, snuff it, and put it in my satchel. I also look around for medical supplies. Not the sort of thing I would have thought to bring with me when I left the temple initially, since I had no experience with traveling, but clearly the world sucks and everything wants to kill me.

NS roll Arcana check for the blue flame and mist.
Agnelia snuffs a torch with blue flame, as she knows that all she must do to snuff is it to will it out, and to re-light it you have to will it back on. She puts it in her satchel. She also goes to the cabinet at the northern end and opens it, revealing all manner of medicine. Red Pulp Salve, Pitus Elixer and Gerii Tea bags. You never drank the tea because it's extremely bitter and tastes like plant matter.
Leara looks around and sees that all the bedrolls are neatly made and all the empty boxes are rations containers. There won't be a crumb of food here. There is nothing usable other than the blue-flame torches and bedrolls.

"We could each use bedrolls, I think." I take one. "You two should think of taking bedrolls, too."
I wait for Aldus to finish his examination of the room.

"I know who sleeps in each of these bedrolls, and all their corpses are upstairs," I say quietly. "I don't think taking one would help me sleep any better."

"My bed was the big one upstairs. I don't think I can carry it."
I think for a second.
"It's okay, the snow is soft."

"I'll have to make something for you, and I'm guessing it can't be anything from here. I suppose a traveling merchant selling bedrolls would be too much to ask when we get on the road."
Hey! I just looked at the character statuses and saw we'll actually be getting a new player in the party soon. Awesome!
I rolled an 11 on my Arcana check, which turns into a 20 with my +9 bonus.
"Well, there is a small chance those bedrolls might be haunted. I suppose I shall take one of them as well. We wouldn't need them if we could just sleep in interdimensional space - likely much more comfortable, and safer as well. One might encounter the occasional demon or space-time instability there, but probably no bloodthirsty wolves. Although, on the other hand, if it hadn't been for those wolves, we would not have met our friend Agnelia here. I almost feel guilty about insulting one of them so badly now. Let's take those medicinal materials with us, too. They seem useful."

The blue torches are magical flames. They can be willed to turn on and off, and they give off dim light, although three times as far as regular torches.
The mist is Miasmal energy.
Aldus moves to the cabinet and grabs the medicine.
Aldus got 4 Red Pulp Salve, 2 Gerii Tea bags, and 1 Pitus Elixer.
A successful Medicine check would identify the properties of each.

Out of character, I vote we head upstairs. This place is boring.
Very interesting. Is there some kind of small bottle or flask around here somewhere that I could use to gather a sample of the Miasmal mist? I also hand the medicinal supplies to Agnelia and take one of the magical torches off the wall for myself.
"That was surprisingly fruitful. Let us investigate what remains of this place."
Let's leave this basement and go upstairs into the tower/upper floor.

Aldus finds a glass jar and attempts to bottle some mist. He succeeds in doing so.
The party, after grabbing some torches and medicine, walks up one of the towers of the temple. They find themselves on a battlement around the pyramid and walk along it. Soon they find a door leading into a chamber. It's circular with candles burning with the same blue flame as the torches lining the perimeter. There's a luxurious purple pillow with gold embroidery along the edges in the center of the room and tons of incense around the pillow. In front of the pillow is a mirror, covered in cloth and wrapped in black strands of silk marked with ancient red lettering. There are three stone stools behind this mirror.

Leara cannot read the lettering.
With perception, you definitely know that these things are in fact a pillow, incense and a mirror.
To identify the pillow, try a religion or history check
Medicine for the incense
History or Arcana for the mirror.

16 for the history check for the mirror.
10 for the medicine check. I don't care what kind of incense it is. I just want to know if anything's wrong with it or if it's any good. In the real world, this stuff's relatively expensive. It should be worth something here.
3 for the pillow. Apparently, I'm not well versed in pillows.
Edit: I'll try an arcana check on the mirror in addition to the history check. (Rolls 2), or maybe I won't...
