Spider-frog, Spider-frog. Does whatever a Spider-frog does. Can he swing from a thread. No he doesn't. Frogs use tongues. Look out! Here comes the Spider-frog!

Oh! Well, I'd personally cast my vote for forest, jungle or island :3
I'll be fine with a reset. I'm not that attached to anything that's going on in the game atm.
Have at it.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Makes sense. I like the environmental skills just being a yes/no on whether we have each skill or not, instead of having points and levels. If we're simplifying things, I'd also like to suggest you do away with area maps and just let us imagine what the battle area looks like, since positioning really doesn't matter.
I'd also suggest that when we level up, instead of you coming up with a bunch of skills and letting us choose between them, you just ask us what we want our new skill to do and then you balance the numbers/details on it. For example, I might say "I want a skill that makes an enemy target me." I think that will be both less work for you and more fun for us, since we're essentially creating our own classes.
The lack of direction in the story was bothering me too so I have no problem with a soft reset. It would be nice if there were some sort of extremely obvious goal, and maybe a villain. That would also give our characters a reason to work together, instead of just "hey travelling with you seems nice," which was absolutely nonsensical considering our party makeup.
My preference for the region would be a forest. Jungle also seems fine though. If we start far from the forest, then I guess my character has just been wandering for a lot longer than a day this time.
I'll keep my character's backstory identical since we actually experienced it firsthand in this game and I'm rather attached to it now. Here's the original backstory I mailed Seiromem before I started:

Agnelia was raised from birth in an isolated forest temple, where an obscure religious sect worshipped the chaotic evil god Viria. She was the only child present, and the temple almost never seemed to receive any visitors. When it did, she wasn't allowed to meet them. However, she was cared for extremely well by everyone present, fawned over in fact. She was trained in many things, including combat, to "prepare for her duty." She never understood why everyone else at the temple wore black, but they dressed her alone in pure white robes.
When she was eleven years old, she woke up one day to find that every single member of the temple was engaged in a simultaneous ritual suicide. They screamed that their souls and blood were hers now, and that she would go on to bring a new world. She didn't know what that meant, and there was no one to ask. She was alone among a hundred corpses.
When the food ran out, she left.

Yup, the changes sound good and I'll keep my character!
Well I'd say jungle but I hate spiders so how about Island, that could be cool! Or a city!!

Take it from someone who's lived in the tropics. If you don't like spiders, an island is the LAST place you want to be. They're huge! I mean, as big as the palm of your hand. Those are the banana spiders. I've never seen them get aggressive, but I'm told they're super poisonous. The small ones though, they look really wicked. White and red and covered with spines.

Bananaspiders!? Big as the palm of your hand!?
On second thought, Jungle sounds like a great idea...
Hm, I can't say I'm too happy about this turn of events. We've had a lot of interesting character interaction already that will be very hard to reproduce again after having started over. And so far, the sandbox-like nature of this campaign never bothered me - but maybe that was because I just assumed Seiromem had some bigger plan ready for us once we reached a certain point. Also, I guess my character isn't the type who needs a lot of direction in order to be motivated to do things.
Either way, it seems like I'm in the minority here, and I'm perfectly okay with starting over as the alternative to stopping this game entirely. It's way too much fun to give up. I'm just going to pretend Aldus accidentally broke the universe and now all our previous actions have been undone. That makes sense, right?
While I think that a lot of the suggestions Seiromem provided for our skills were really cool, I like this idea a lot, too. I have some very specific ideas on what direction I would like to take Aldus's abilities, so giving the players more of a say in this seems good to me. Of course, Seiromem always should have the right to veto or at least tone down any of our requests.
I have no preference when it comes to what type of area we're in (although I don't think Aldus would work very well in heavily populated places). I'm fine with going anywhere.
I really like the idea of being trained in random skills that change after a while, by the way. That's a great idea, Seiromem!

"Oh great, two diamonds. One has to be a fake, but which one is real?"
...
"Wh- since when could you appraise jewels?"
...
"Since last week... yeah, whatever."
"Aldus, quickly, pick the lock!"
...
"Whatdoya mean you don't know how? You unlocked that vault a month ago!"
...
"NO A BOUNCY TUNE WON'T CHEER ME UP!"
As for the skills, we can do it both way. You say the type of skill you want, but how it achieves it is up to me and your class. Of course, if you can't think of one, we'll go with my original questioning.
As for why there's a soft reset, we'll call it Reality Dissonance.
Okay then. I'll just repost my character description and stats, along with some ideas on how to adjust his abilities to fit the new rules. Regarding skills and spells, I'll just list some suggestions. If you don't agree with any of them, just let me know.
Based on this backstory, I would actually suggest I get Perception and the two randomly changing skills from my class, while my background as an ex-wizard gives me Arcana and Investigation. Does that make sense?
As far as abilities go: I liked the idea of my Chaotic Magic passive, but I have to admit its effects were often too extreme or game-changing to really work well. It caused the other players' actions to be pushed into the background, and made me apprehensive about using Aldus's spells. If the effects were just minor in most cases and only rarely had larger consequences, I would feel more comfortable about this ability. The other 3 spells you gave me at the start of the game (Chaotic Summon, Prestidigitation and Implant Memory) I'm fine with keeping.
Does this sound okay to you? Did I forget anything?

Backstory:Born as the only son of moderately well-off artisans, Aldus was found to possess the gift of magic at a very young age. Hoping he would lead their family to greater prosperity, his parents were eager to send their child to study at an exclusive wizard's academy. Unfortunately, it quickly turned out that in fact, Aldus' magical potential was very small. Paired with his lack of focus and discipline, this was reason enough for the academy to expel him after less than two years of training. As he didn't want his parents to be disappointed, instead of returning home Aldus just kept wandering around the world, secretly continuing his magical experiments.
Until one day, during a failed ritual, the released magical power was channeled back to his own mind and briefly sent it far beyond: Beyond the universe; Beyond reason and logic; Beyond comprehension. For a split second, Aldus came into contact with the chaos outside of reality. It was an experience which would have driven even the bravest warriors insane. And as a matter of fact, that was exactly what happened to Aldus.
Infused with the essence of chaos, the unsuccessful wizard gained strange new powers and learned how to tap into the forces of the Beyond. But while there is no border the human mind cannot cross, passing some of them will require paying a toll. In Aldus' case, it was his mental health. Since his moment of "enlightenment," Aldus has looked into many weird and obscure types of magic: Summoning, demonology, telekinesis, mind-reading and mind-control, teleportation... As long as it is about bending or breaking the laws of nature, Aldus is interested in it, the crazier, the better.
Despite his dangerous magic and unconventional world view, Aldus is not much of a fighter and generally a peaceful person - in fact, he doesn't even own a weapon. But if he is ever forced to defend himself, he rarely targets his opponents' bodies. He'd much rather turn their brains to mush.

Looks like you covered everything! Although, thinking on it now, Aldus isn't really a "wizard" in the sense that he doesn't memorizes spells, write them down in a book, or performs complex incantations that require the precise timing and focus. I believe he more so wills things to happen, like a sorcerer, and it's his charisma that allows them to happen. With this thought, maybe consider swapping your intelligence with charisma? 13 isn't stupid or anything. Your choice.
I'm editing the second post now, simplifying all the info. Tell me if anything is confusing.

Thank you, I'm glad that all works. I do have one question/request: Is it possible to replace the effect of the Mage Armour and instead give Aldus an additional ability that has a similar defensive effect? This is mostly for fluff reasons, as I would like this defense option to fit my character's powers a bit better. But I also noticed that activating the Mage Armour is usually the best thing to do as the first action in combat, and that kind of routine doesn't really fit Aldus's mindset.
Specifically, what I have in mind is something like this:
Regarding the stat choice, I see your point. But I'd still like to keep things as they are, for two reasons:
Edit:
P.S.: Should we consider moving this over to a new thread, now that we're starting from the beginning again?
Specifically, what I have in mind is something like this:
Warp Space: Expend a reaction/bonus action during combat to distort space around self, making it more difficult for attackers to land a hit. Increases AC against an incoming attack (or: forces an attacker to roll at disadvantage). Only works against one attack per turn, and can only be used again after 1D3 turns have passed.
Regarding the stat choice, I see your point. But I'd still like to keep things as they are, for two reasons:
Firstly, while Aldus is quite friendly and somewhat charismatic, he isn't that attractive in the normal sense, and too absent-minded to be great at connecting with others, which a high charisma stat would imply. And secondly, Aldus's magic is in fact extremely complex - but not in a way that can be considered logically comprehensible. Aldus isn't just smart, he is a genius. He is capable of knowing and understanding things that many others would struggle to ever grasp. Only his manner of thinking is completely different from that of most other humans, and so are his definitions of "knowing" and "understanding." In short, Aldus's intellectual capacity is enormous, as reflected by his Int stat, but due to his insanity the way his brain processes knowledge often turns it into a mess, as reflected by his low Wis stat. I hope this explanation makes some sort of sense.

P.S.: Should we consider moving this over to a new thread, now that we're starting from the beginning again?

If people don't like the idea of starting the story over we could start only the game play over. we could start at level 1 but the story could continue as though it picked up after we left the mines, or Aldus could randomly teleport us somewhere.
I think I'd like to retcon my character to start with one of the sacrificial daggers from my temple, as an offhand weapon to use while the enemy is chokeheld, and possibly to use in some of my skills by sacrificing enemies or something like that. I'd also like to have a fragment of the mirror, just for RP purposes.

Yes, this. It could be one of Aldus' accidents. We all get teleported to safety but our levels are at square one.
That's a decision that should be up to Seiromem. He is the one who has to plan and organise the campaign, after all.
By the way, now that we still have the chance to change things around:
Throughout this whole game, I've been worried that Aldus might be too obnoxious as a character and ruin the fun for other players. I enjoy playing him, but I can also see why being in a party with him could be perceived as very annoying. Do any of you actually feel this way, or am I just worrying too much? Because now would be the time for me to pick a different character, if that would improve the experience for the rest of the players.

Definitely not, I love Aldy, he's so awesome! I see how you'd think that, but really he's fascinating and really cool!

Aldus is easily my favorite character in this campaign.
I wouldn't mind if Frogge picked a new character but maybe his character's idiocy will grow on me. He'll probably be a lot less annoying once we have a quest to justify working together. The annoyance so far was mostly that we kept having to invent increasingly unbelievable reasons to not treat him as an enemy and kill him.

To decide anything in the story, I'd like you guys to express a preference in the over-arching "theme".
Will you guys want a "treasure hunter" type questline?
Or perhaps you're random people going about their day in an area when something monumental happens and drags you all into it?
Or another idea to keep character interactions in tact, but I need to keep most of it secret cuz Spoilers!

Thanks, Kloe and LockeZ! Now I'm feeling more comfortable about this again.
As far as the theme question goes: In The Highlander's Tomb, we had a bit of a combination of treasure hunting and being dragged into something monumental, didn't we? I felt like for the largest part, that worked pretty well. And while in my opinion this party has a lot of potential for great roleplaying, I think our characters are all too eccentric to function well in a very "social" plot (something involving intrigue or diplomacy, for example). So a slightly more isolated setting would probably benefit the story's progression.
Other than that, I don't really have any specific preferences.
