Not to mention that Ratty was the first one to suggest an arbitrary lynch and...now Aetherrevival is the first to imply an arbitrary general accusation.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I don't know what's happening in that picture except that I want to lynch you immediately just to keep it from ever happening again
About 36 hours left to first day phase. Remember to send in your ballots before the end of that time.
Ah, I can procrastinate longer then -u-

Today is turning out to be very tricky and it's a little too quiet for my liking.

Let's try an experiment. As of right now, my gut is telling me oddRabit is the most suspicious. Not many people have had much to say but I think his posts have been the most downplayed aside from Ratty I suppose.

I'd like to ask oddRabbit what he thinks of everyone so far. I dunno if this is your first game of mafia so: what I'm essentially asking is, do anyone's posts strike you as scummy and what makes you think so?

Day 1 is always the worst. I can't recall ever having played with oddRabbit. That doesn't necessarily mean he's a newbie, though. If he is, though, I'd be willing to dismiss his overall shyness as simply not knowing how to proceed. You could actually make the same observation about MakioKuta. For that reason, I'm leaning towards newbie.

fearful hasn't said anything. Based on his brief performance in Highlander's Realm and his absence here, I strongly suspect he's going to be a mod-kill, so I think we can ignore him.

We're still waiting on Kloe to chime in.

Crystal-Mint actually is about as vague as oddRabbit.

It's rather weak, but if we're asking for opinions from oddRabbit, I think Crystal-Mint is a good candidate for scrutiny too. Kloe and fearful need to chime in some time. We've made it quite far into the day phase without so much as a peep out of them.

I think they're both new, since I'm pretty sure this is only MakioKuta's second time playing it (I played with her the first time, which was in an RP-based game). I'm actually pretty new to this too, since this is also only my second time playing it online!

Since there's no face-to-face interaction, how would you usually find someone to be suspicious (especially on Day 1)?

Ideally, you talk as much as possible. A silent town is a losing town. If mafia don't have to talk it makes it easy for them to coast under the radar. The whole point of mafia is that you look at people's posts and the way they are voting while trying to surmise their motives for saying what they say.

For instance, there are good posts and scummy junk posts. This is a junk post. A mafia might make a post like that.

I know some of you guys are new but new people can be mafia! Its happened before!

He did choose to make his first post once it was confirmed we could vote.

But I think I know his reasons and if I'm right then I will high-five him.
Yeah, I guess I'm just not clear on what we should be talking about. As Crystal-Mint said, the only other game I played close to this was a HEAVY RP one that played more like a murder mystery with a DM. xD

But I joined this to learn. So learn I will try to do.

Mafia in a nutshell.

Sounds like dinner theater.

The rules have been subverted a little. This promises to be interesting.

Mafia can also be described as a thread's rapid slow descent into madness...

Well, a few minutes, you could have, but you can't anymore.

Liberty
'Do Not EDIT'...I'll just count any edits from here-out as rule breaking (we've a few people who aren't as mafia-knowledgable as others here who live and breathe that shit.) XD First rule break will result in loss of ballot. Second will be death. (Don't want to make it too easy on mafia)

Fearful was crushed by the bullet I merely dodged earlier. :x
Yeah, sorry fearful, but for that edit your ballot is rendered null and void for tonight's ballot count (tomorrow's will still work, as long as you don't break any of the other rules. Refer to this post for more rules that you might have missed: http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/20624/?post=726784#post726784 ).

I know there's a good amount of new people in the thread, which is why I've got a lessened punishment for rule breaking first, but keep in mind that the rules are there for reasons.

The edit rule exists because mafia is a game where what people say really counts against them. Ideally you will be quoting each other, digging up inconsistencies in arguments and referring back to older posts. If people can edit their posts then you can't trust that what was quoted is really what was said - otherwise people would go back and edit out little slip ups. Half the fun is digging out inconsistencies and using them to undermine each others' arguments in order to either find the truth or obscure it, depending on which team you are on. This is the main reason why talking really helps town out - by talking people get a feel for each other and can refer back to past posts in order to see who is lying, who is acting weird or who is being detrimental to the team.

Sometimes it is not as simple as 'this person is acting scummy' (the term scum refers to anyone who would be against town - it's a catch-all name for all non-town people, not meant as an insult). Sometimes a person might be lynched because they're obscuring the issue or causing trouble for town, even if they are town (basically, the reason Kloe was killed in the RP game was because she was more of a hindrance to town than a help).

So you need to try and talk, but also keep your cards to your chest a bit, but also weed out the mafia, but also try not to incriminate yourselves whilst serving your interests as best as you can.

Good luck~ :DDD

The only person allowed to edit their posts in this thread is me. ;p
