Epic facepalm at that. What, do you think you'll somehow discredit the new administration because of some manipulative photos and Kelly stumbling over herself during an interview? Sheesh.
And yes, we will absolutely disagree that the left has not been actively silencing critics. That is a completely indefensible position you hold. IRS targeting conservative groups, lefties disabling comments and likes on any lefty video, shutting down conservative facebook and twitter accounts meanwhile ISIS recruitment sites remain up, arresting people in Germany who disagree with all the Islamic migration, the list goes on and on. Come on man. :(
And yeah, the left has been engaging in 1984 style Newspeak for years. This word is okay one week, not okay the next. "People of Color" is good "Colored People" is bad. There are 3 genders. Now there are 5. Now there are 97. Now gender is completely fluid, even though males are oppressors. Racism's definition has changed to requiring "privilege." And by the way, we determine who is privileged and who isn't. Failure to comply will result in being fired, sued, publicly shamed, etc.
And I don't particularly have much problem with what Trump has done in the 0.5 seconds he's been in office. Do you think media is immune to criticism or something? Just how many sacred cows on the left do we need to slay in the coming years?

Hey man, I just came here because I was told of the article and this was the go-to place for politics on RMN. It just so happened that there was already a discussion at hand along the same lines.
Personally, I'm curious if there's going to be a censoring of the media by someone who doesn't like what words are being thrown their way. If the article is gone tomorrow or the day after, I'll have my answer.

If Facebook and Twitter are doing this ONLY because of political affiliation, and not because of harassment or hateful views associated with the account, then this is wrong though not censorship. (And yes, Leftist accounts engaging in harassment or hate speech should also be removed.) Censorship is something the government can do, if a business does it they're allowed to have their own policies and terms of service, and those policies and terms can be bad and wrong and you can disagree with them.

I don't follow this branch of 'the left' very closely outside of how it pertains to how people behave on this forum, but I am very confident that they do not control the government and cannot force people to adhere to their views.

Which I had no intention of doing. I literally went from one room of the house where I got this information to another room where my computer is at, skimmed over the article myself and jumped onto RMN to share it. I got to the thread by clicking on "Read", which spit me out below Ratty's post so I didn't even know harmonic was here.

It's not entirely impossible to make Mexico pay for it, but it would have to be done indirectly. They've already mentioned the possibility of levying a 20% tax on all Mexican imports. He could also go after the money sent by Mexicans working in America to their folks back home. The ideas for taxes and surcharges are legion.
But he authorized the wall by Executive Order, which is a lot more vulnerable to lawsuits than congressionally authorized expenditures. If we're lucky, somebody will launch a grievance, we won't see a single shovel hit the dirt for four years, and the 2020 election will be upon us.

I am actually pretty sure he can't actually authorize this via Executive Order alone. Only Congress can fund this kind of project. Trump's EO does not make it clear exactly where the money will come from.
Incidentally Illegal immigration populations are falling and have been for years not exploding rapidly out of control as Trump often claims. I guess the wall is working already?
I'd have thought a lot of people would have considered the TPP falling through a positive for Trump administration at least.
As an Aussie I'm a bit on the fence with it - one the one hand, it is about time Australia pulled our collective heads out of our asses and dealt with shit instead of bandaiding things by teaming up and relying on others instead of facing the issues we've caused inside out own country that makes it so that we have to rely on other countries. On the other hand, this will likely give China the leeway to get more power and it's a pretty open provocation towards them too - which is not something anyone sane would want to do considering. I mean, there's a lot of Americans who think they're the bees knees when it comes to military but China has a standing army of over 10x the amount of anyone (more than the other top 10 countries combined, even) and the... I wouldn't say lack of ethics, but a more looser workplace law environment meaning they can and will manufacture weapons and the like at a much faster pace than other countries, especially with the amount of people who will do what they need to in order to get what they want.
If anything happened between America and China, Australia would be pulled in a tug-of-war because they're BOTH our biggest allies (bar our buddies NZ who we know would have our backs, as we'd have theirs). China has a lot of our trade and we have a lot of ties to America too. We'd likely be put in a very difficult position.

Yes, it is a good thing. So was his stance on transgenders using bathrooms. It's everything else I disagree with.
If Trump actually gets drug companies to lower their prices I will give him an unreserved thumbs up. I'm not optimistic about anything else and alarmed by quite a few thing things at this point.

I mean, unisex bathrooms should be a thing anyway - not like we don't already do that in our own homes. I'm sure we're more than capable of dealing with that shit outside the house. :shrug:
