[MAFIA] ANIME WAIFU BATTLE ROYALE! =+= FINISHED =+=

Posts

The shadowy figure who rules the Patrons had the Cornicopia swept clean before the end phase just so that people wouldn't die from traps set up there before the finale.

I didn't forget, I just null and voided any traps in the area when the change occurred.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

How terrible. It would have been the ultimate troll ending to the ultimate troll mafia.

I was rooting for Psy, but then when he died, it was Frogge all the way. Then he didn't vote for himself...

Congratulations, Trihan and Hex!

Now to see what everyone's abilities were! I've been so curious since the start.

The temptation to give away my own ability at the start was so tempting, but with an ability like "come back to life once after death" it's quite risky.

I feel bored. How odd.

Despite doing badly as always, perhaps even worse than usual, I'm happy with Frogge being dead. As long as no Undertale characters or LockeZ survived, I'm happy.

Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays. A game of betrayal, where the most suspicious person is brutally murdered? How savage.

I was trying to be as chipper as possible while simultaneously letting as little slip from my grasp as possible. I didn't want to make any enemies if I could help it. Something like Beloved Furniture. I needed partners though, because I was really vulnverable to attacks if I used my power without one.

Tinker: During the night phase, you can make a new item, but anything with a % chance will work on you 100% unless you have a partner. (This was awesome because it meant I could stay away from high danger zones and still get items. Also, because of the random wanderings on day one, the Cornucopia was saved from having my boom mine. THAT would have been really funny!)

I also lied a whole lot during the game, especially during the early phases, and I think those decisions were good ones. Pretty much everyone who let slip their power or their location ended up being dead pretty quick.

And then that Hot potato came. I was wracking my brain, trying to think of the best way to get rid of it. I also considered the pass-it-back-n-forth option, and that was on the table - but I also didn't want to get a mod-intervention if that behavior wasn't intended, and end up screwing my partner. I very carefully crafted my wording on the initial item-for-vote request. But I felt really bad for Trihan (and thankfuly) but I wanted them to have the best possible opportunity to be able to pass it off too.

And then like two seconds later Trihan was like "Oh yeah um, hey, does anyone one else want this?" and I was like "GEEZ! Don't make it sound so obvious!" internally. And then the comment later when I made her switch to my vote! Were you trying to die!? I could have outed you at any moment but I didn't because I wanted you to have the best chance!

Ah well. I kinda expected post-SK game to have gone very differently for me. I was LOADED FOR BEAR. I had A Vest on that would have saved me from a bullet, a REUSABLE item that would tell me who was previously OR currently in my zone, my gun, and a few other things including a insta-kill sword. But for the first bit, nobody went where I was, and on the last night I used my skill "BadSmell" to make anyone who went to my new zone to be forced out. So, I expected to have to do at least one murder, but nope.

Thanks for the cool game, Liberty! And thanks to the rest of the awesome GIF SQUAD!

The original is busted and only I can get in. I'll give you all a document where you can read it, though: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1esl4C-KuonQ7SCGuqQZf03Cs200YEhljabQmP_fLHPg/edit?usp=sharing

It's very long. >.<;

Down the bottom of the design doc you can switch tabs to see different things like quotes I liked (before I got too busy to keep that up), the skills people started with/got later, chatroom links and the like.

About the only thing I didn't keep a note of was people's past items after they were used, unless they affected a zone (like mine booms and the like).

The boom potato was the result of me being somewhat salty about stepping on a boom mine.

So I thought of an item that wouldn't make Hexa just lose the game outright, but still had a chance of making him go boom in a funny and ironic death.

Then when he passed the potato to Trihan with a masterful lie, I couldn't help but start rooting for him to win.

Well, at least the only one of my partners who never somehow betrayed me ended up winning the game. Congratulations, Trihan! And Hexatona as well!

I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed the psychological aspect of this setup. The intrigues, the paranoia, the constant danger of betrayal. It was kind of nerve-wracking, but also really exciting. I also genuinely felt bad knowing that I would have to stab some of my previous allies in the back at some point. And I'm still a little bit salty that Frogge didn't at least try to save me by voting for Kloe when he had the opportunity.

Too bad the game itself, however, was such an absolute unbalanced mess. I know it must be hard to organise all this stuff, and I don't mean to insult Liberty's creativity and hard work. But really, in a Mafia game, the deciding factor should be the participants' ability to draw gain insights through interaction and communication, and drawing the right conclusions from what they find. This game was pretty much dominated by RNG, and certain people were in more or less advantageous positions than others right from the start.

My own actual ability sounded fitting and kind of epic, but it was really pretty useless, since it only worked on nightkills. But more importantly, it would only ever help me win the game during the very last phase of the game, where abilities were disabled anyway. So my power had absolutely zero use as far as helping me win the game goes, and only served to allow me to take petty revenge and make me look cool for one day. And I didn't even get to do that, because you punks sacrificed me.

(Oh yeah, I totally lied about my abilities to every single one of my partners. I thought it was a good way of making people reluctant to lynch me, while keeping my edge against nightkills a secret. That didn't work out so well...)

Either way, I'm glad most people seemed to have had fun in some way or another, since that's the most important part. But the ragequitting and constant complaining about the arbitrary nature of the rules speaks volumes, too, I think. Perhaps next time, let's have a functioning actual Mafia game again, okay?

Oh, I spent a looong time thinking up the best way to phrase it, because one mistake meant my most certainly hilarious death.

Wait, did I betray you? I didn't vote for you when the lynch train was happening, and if I was awake before the end of the night and there was only a little time left, I would have voted kloe to save you.

Oh, reading the rest of your post, you seem to have noticed too. Like I just said, I was asleep at the time. I told Hex right after in the chat that I felt guilty because if I had been awake at the time and voted kloe you may have survived.

You lazybones! This is what happens when people like you take it easy.

Nah, it's fine, I understand. I'm actually glad to hear you didn't intend to betray me after all. Thinking about it, it might not have made a difference in the end, since one of the other people who voted for Kloe could just have cancelled their vote and thus brought it back to a tie anyway.

Too bad we didn't get to be the last two standing together. In the end, our intricate cipher nonsense never availed us, either. Oh well. See you in the next game!

It was sad to see you die, but I'm glad I got to partner with Hex in the end and I'm also happy he survived.

Also, your ACTUAL ability was quite a cool one. Sucks you would still die on the next day.

Still certain I had the worst ability since it conflicted with me winning:

Loyalty: When partnered with someone for more than one day/night phase, you will die in their place (night or day).

I appreciate games where everyone gets to have a power. However, there were some obvious discrepancies in power. I also agree with psy that their was very little incentive to do much of anything.

A phase 1 setup with an actual scum team may have been better. Or a setup like phase 2, but with the partnership mechanic. Removing the partnerships made the game feel even more RNG since their wasn't any need to investigate other players after SK was outed.
