FF13-2. I kinda hate it and kinda don't.

...rant time...
Okay, so I like the idea that they were going for with 13-2. It's interesting and reminds me of Chrono Trigger and Radiant Historia - which is great and all - but the story itself is so badly presented that I just can't like it. At all.
Don't get me wrong, I like Serah - she's a top gal - and I don't even hate Noel at all, but the presentation of the story and characters is just so shallow and empty that I can't find it in myself to fucking care about it. And I want to - because the gameplay is fun.
Yes, the gameplay is fun but there's no fucking reason for playing! "Need to find Lightning!" Great. Good one. Let's find her, but how about fucking explaining shit while we go? You know, fill out the characters and story a bit beyond "Oh, let's go leave everything behind and follow this random guy through time and oh hey we met this girl and she bailed us from prison and knew my name but oh she doesn't actually know us at all just somehow mystically knew my name and trusts us and now we're fighting this monster for her and suddenly we're inside this time space thing? and doing puzzles for some reason? and oh look there's a graveyard for some reason and let's go back through time!!!"
It's bullshit! I can't handle it! And I really want to because, like I said, the gameplay is -fun- but having to struggle through the bullshit story/presentation is just more than I can bear! It's such a shallow way to present the game. I've played better 2k3 games that were made for fucking free and in shorter amount of time than this which were more fun and interesting in not only character but plot.
Honestly, the game is so badly written! It's like the FF version of Twilight. There, I said it! And it's such a pity because the first game in the trilogy, for all of it's faults, had decent writing. There is literally no fucking excuse for this pathetic presentation.
There's no explanations, no depth and no reason for us to care about this story and the characters. FF13 gets flack for being a linear path but at least the story had different 'paths'. In FF13-2 they may have gotten rid of straight lines but the story is more like a check list or dot-points.
- Find Noel
- Go through gate
- Meet Girl
- Kill monster
- Go through next gate
Seriously, it's like the devs asked themselves how little writing and character development they could get away with before it could no longer be called an RPG and ran with it. It's complete and utter bullshit and I hate the game because of it but I want to keep playing because I'm hoping against hope that the story picks up at some point and things get explained/expanded on and the gameplay is fun whyyyyyyyyyyyy ;.;

Playing The Sims 4, yeah, I played the first one with my sister a long time ago and now I play the sims every now and then
Is pretty good so far, but it feels kinda unpolished (thankfully there are frequent updates), is a mix between the sims 2 (characters are similar) and the sims 3 (is open world but not in the same scale of the sims 3)
I just hope that we get better expansions, I like the idea of game packs (smaller than a regular expansion but better than a simple stuff pack) and I hope they release more in the future
And I play Dota 2 every now and then (Need more practice though... my MMR is around 1000 but is been a while since I played ranked)

Oh and I wanted to mention FUCK this demon spawn:
I just try to run whenever I encounter these guys... And then they block me and cast Sleep. >_>
What are you doing wandering away so far from the castle at level 4?
Playing Etrian Odyssey on an emulator while I wait for my actual copy that I just ordered to come in the mail.
You know, considering how much I dislike starting over in a game, I'm wondering why I thought this was a good idea.
Patience is a virtue... one I don't have.

Hey, I got that game in an emulator too! And I agree with you, the difficulty can be really cruel with you... ;_;
Ah, the difficulty at the start wasn't entirely what I was worried about. Just starting over in the middle of a playthrough in general annoys me. Though, I won't deny it's tough going, I'm actually relieved at how easy it is compared to Etrian Odyssey 2's beginning. Good lord, EO2's first stratum is brutal...
What's your party setup? I have a Protector/Dark Hunter/Medic/Alchemist/Troubadour setup with a Survivalist on the side for gathering.

So far I'm with a Protector/Landsknecht/Survivalist/Medic/Alchemist party. Nothing really fancy. They are at level 8 and right now I'm trying to get through the second floor and those annoying midbosses roaming around... :(
And it quite bugs me that the more levels my party gains, the harder is to pay for the inn. >:(

The FOEs can be pretty annoying. And Fenders (was that what they were called?)... why are they in with the random encounters? So strong! And venomflies... well, I'm just glad they only hit one party member with poison, rather then all of them at once (Etrian Odyssey 2's venomflies... ugh.) But really, if you have trouble try grinding a bit, or even consider starting over with your party members? Things are a lot easier if you have some decent skills, so making sure you're using your skill points very wisely is key. Someone remind me why I enjoy this series so much.
Edit: yes, the inn's prices are also a bother. Though, if you don't mind being a cheater, you can perform a lttle trick (though I'd hardly call it cheating): create a new party member at the Explorer's Guild, then take their starting gear, get rid of the party member, and sell said starting gear. Rather unsavory, but it's an option.

Playing ff7 on my psp, fft on my iphone/mp3 player, Batman Arkham Origins on ps3, Zelda 1 on retron-5, and forever trying to find a decent game on my android phone......
Of course, nowadays, these games will take years to finish.

Downloaded and played Fantasy Zone: Opa Opa Bros. on my 3DS.
So I'm sure I'm playing this on the easiest setting, but HOLY SHIT this game is hard. The fact that Opa Opa tends has to lean a bit too close to the egde of the screen in order to get it scrolling doesn't help, and no way to lock your direction when you're shooting except for boss fights. Top it off with a final boss that is virtually impossible to defeat unless you bought a specific item from the in-game shop.
This took a lot out of me, but I think the cutesy, surreal atmosphere and the awesome soundtrack made up for it all. xD

Ikr? I refuse to face magicians until I'm level 4!

That was actually just a random screenshot I found of the magicians. I think I first encountered them around level 9-10.
I will say, though, how in the world does this guy make it past anything else at level 4. Like, the Druins, Skeletons, Wolves and Drolls should have murdered him along the way.
It's like you said: they run away from them, and since nobody casts sleep, they think it's all good and they try to play the game that way. Then they run into the warlocks and get their asses handed to them.
A little over halfway in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Good game, besides a few gripes. By the way, Vivienne (or a Mage Inquisitor with the Knight Enchanter specialization if you went that route) completely destroys the game. I mean like, solo dragons on Nightmare difficulty type shit.
