WHAT VIDEOGAMES ARE YOU PLAYING RIGHT NOW?
Posts
Yes, Gief still has his 360s and 720s, You can buffer like Fieldschlacht IV said or you can just make the half circle motion. I'm able to pull of 360s and 720s a lot easier in SF5 than I could in SF4. I'm just having trouble finding a character that suits my play-style. Come on Capcom, bring back El Fuerte.
author=Feldschlacht IVauthor=YMYeah, this is pretty much exactly what it is. Oftentimes in Street Fighter V, I'd love to compliment someone on a match I just had, but this involves;
Is it because messaging people is too much effort on PSN?
1. Pausing the SFV main game and going to PSN
2. Finding the 'Last Person' played or interacted with or whatever
3. Selecting and opening up the message box dialogue
4. Typing out a message...with a controller. This alone is a giant pain in the ass.
5. And lastly, assuming he's not even going to read it, as the player will likely get the message in the middle of a match, and will probably forget or not bother to read it after that match is over, given how he has to interrupt his game to do so.
Now, these are the steps from memory, and assuming that Step 2 is even an option and I'm remembering right. If 'message previous player' is not an option on PSN and I can only do so from the SFV main menu, which would require me to exit out of multiplayer entirely to access, then yeah, fuck that.
It's just too much of a pain.
Also consider the frequency you'd have to keep that up if you were going to do that. I'm sort of glad it's not customary, if it was, I'd never do it. In fighting games, you can play several matches in 10 minutes. An hour of so of play would quickly have your inbox filled with 'gg', 'lol good match bro', 'fuckin scrub', 'fag', and 'fireball spammin bitch'.
Pass.
In MOBA's it's pretty easy to send messages, but still people use that function to offend each other.
To compliment people is as much about easiness of sending messages, as it is about how each person reacts.
I'm currently playing Overwatch open beta and oh my god it has to the most addicting game I have played. It's so much fun, so smooth and stylish and everything works just so well and there's so much variation and oh my god I just can't get enough of it.
Welp, Stellaris had the good graces to come out the day before my week-long road trip, so I'm going to sneak in some quality hours tonight.
On the plus side, I finished creating my faction of plutocratic industrialist space lizards!

None of the trailers seems to actually inform you what kind of game it is. A shooter? a single player RPG? A hidden object game? A visual novel? Tower defense? Who knows??
E:
googling "Overwatch" lead to several pages of "Blizzard Removing Overwatch Butt Pose". So I can tell you what Overwatch isn't: Overwatch is not a butt pose

kentuna, it's a class based shooter, like Team Fortress except more fantastic. Different character classes have different guns and abilities.
I beat the Taurus demon and the gargoyles in Dark Souls. The gargoyles were defeated by summoning Solaire and pecking on them with a gold resin enhanced spear. That almost felt like cheating.
I also had an encounter with the Capra demon, but I've decided to hold that one off until later.

I got back to Dark Souls 3 and took Red Nova's advice and found Smouldering Lake. Much like the Demon Ruins in DS1 it definitely feels like fly-over country, design wise at least. I got plenty of loot there including enough shards to get my sword to +7 (and made it Raw for an extra 19 strength) and flame to +6, I got the Shield of Want which is the best 100% phys block shield I have now with bonus souls drop and the most stability, and I got Chaos Fireball which got my fireball throwing back into the realm of usefulness again!
The actual location was Catacombs but with some Tree Roots and an obnoxious ballista/arbalest that made a ton of noise and a worm with a dumb hit box (but you can kill it by placing it between the ballista and you and getting a drink). This area's 'regular enemy harder than the boss' were demons that could spawn fireball adds that would shoot you with fire and the demon itself had a big weapon it could frenzy with. Between it and all the fireballs it'd spawn before you got to it / started off spawned I just ignored them whenever possible.
The actual boss was annoying, trying to fight it for real turned out to be a waste so it came down to crotch-stab-simulator again except when I'd get caught on one weird bit of geometry the boss has or he did one or two certain combos that would 2HKO me every time (he'd drop his hammer on me that I could never block then he could do the fireball when I was trying to get up and I couldn't block it either). Shitty place, I'd only go there to grab the pyromancy tomes and a few other bits if I ever do a second playthrough.
I used the power of the Chaos Fireball well against the Pontiff Knights in Irithyl of the Boreal Valley or w/e, their seven hit combo still fucks me up but it only took two good fireballs to drop them now. After getting to the bonfire in the church (which took a "fuck y'all I'm outta here" run) the area eased up considerably. The eye-ghost fellows were easy to deal with via a bow and none of the skeleton aberrations in the water surprised me (barring the "what is that? *shoot with bow* OH GOD" bit. Eventually I cleaned out the area and got the shortcut to the boss and the path to the dungeon. Currently checking out the dungeon which is a poor man's 3-1 from Demon Souls (but I can also see where I am so I'll take DS3 over DeS jails any day).
Current stats are about
Vigor: 19-20. It was 15 before the Demon Ruins and I pumped it up to extend the use out of my estus flask level. I'm happy with where it is for now.
Channeling: 14? The min amount for two slots, I got this early on in the game and I haven't touched it since. I'm starting to feel the lack of MP so I'll probably move around my estus flask allocation since 2 MP ones might not cut it soon.
Stamina: 17-18. I think I can get six hits with my main weapon at full
Equip Load: 18. I discovered this was useless so I just do dress up now which keeps me in midroll. rip
Strength: 24. I got enough to single hand the Wolf Greatsword but after trying it I went back to my regular sword with no stat scaling. rip
Dexterity: 18. I even augmented my Great Scythe to deal dark damage and it still does less than my regular stabber. rip
Luck: 7. Still a dump stat. rip
e: Totally forgot about int and faith! 14 and 15 respectively, sounds like the pyromancy flame doesn't scale with stats for shit until the 40's or something? rip those stats too then

I went to the Darkroot areas and ended up procuring Havel's Ring and the Elite Knight set. With that I felt more confident taking on the Capra demon and did defeat him with relative ease. This gave me access to the depths which gave me finally a pyromancer. Just like that my character got a lot stronger. That seems to be in due time though, every currently accessible area is a lot tougher.
I must say I like armor in this game. Both the advantages and the disadvantages of heavier armor are noticeable. This makes me annoyed at what they did with armor in Dark Souls 3.

Yeah, besides the pyromancy tome Red Nova pointed me towards I haven't found anything that feels like an upgrade on anything in DS3, and that includes all the armor I'm finding. I can only guess that From got mad that people found the best solution for a DS1 endboss * is to tank up and unload on their face and not give a shit and in response From did the "dev overreact" thing.
If anybody needs to gitgud it's From.

Yeah, I really hate how heavy armor was handled. Now, as far as I can tell, poise only works during Weapon Arts that make use of it, like Stomp.
I love the FP and Ashen Estus Flask additions. Everything about it feels like an upgrade from prior games (even Demon's Souls, since now even melee builds can make use of it).
Started a new run aiming for a pure caster build. So far, I'm not seeing why this type of character is so frowned upon in the community, because I'm having a blast. Sure, spells can get so strong that they can one or two shot a common enemy, and it doesn't bring in the excitement of whittling down enemy health by dancing around them, but knowing that your capabilities as a mage are limited by FP means you need to pick and choose which enemies are worth putting down as you go through the level. And if you come across a really strong enemy that you can't beat before it gets in your face, it's even more frantic because you're so much more vulnerable than with a melee build. Plus, since I've only got Soul Arrow and Heavy Soul Arrow right now), attracting a mob of enemies is a very bad idea, so I need to sneak around more to pick off individual targets.
Sorta like a survival horror game. And that's a really cool thing.
Crystalgate: yeah, pyromancy will be a huge help in the depths. I can remember one enemy type that's very resistant to physical but can be burned to death with one or two fireballs.

Having played DeS first, Ashen Flasks are a godsend after waiting for the royal starter ring to slowly refill MP
Like find a safe zone and do something else for ten minutes waiting for mp to refill kind of godsend

Hmm... so far, my plan of playing through Ocarina of Time with an Ultra Racer 64 controller isn't nearly as interesting as I'd hoped. I forgot how little combat there is, or really anything that requires the proper pressing of directions and buttons, in a Zelda game.
But, speaking of Dark Souls, I tried starting a game of that (360 version) a little while ago. I played it for about an hour and a half and then put it down. Is having extremely sluggish attacks a consequence of early-game stats, or is it just how this game is? I mean, I found out that taking all my clothes off makes the roll faster, but I'm still wielding this 3-pound sword like it's a god damned telephone pole.

Normally I tend to stay away from unfinished episodic games.
But I couldn't resist to try out Kentucky Route Zero. There are 3 of 5 Acts done and the 4th seems to be nearly finished.
From what I played so far.... I don't regret a single spent cent for this game. It's weird, it's unique, it's great!
I actually bought it over a year ago, but back then my English wasn't nearly as good as it is now. So I didn't understand most of the text in the game. :/ No I do. And I love it even more!

Happy decided to be a boss and gifted Stardew Valley to me. Real big thanks!
So I'm beginning my little countryside quest and getting settled into my new farm...

Attack animations are determined per weapon and if you are one handing or two handing it. Stats generally aren't a factor at all. Dexterity does have a small effect on cast speed... but I don't remember if that was in DS1 or not!
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

The combat in Dark Souls is definitely very slow. The game makes you commit to every attack and limits how many you can do in a row. You can wield a dagger and increase your stamina, but you can't change the game. It's not a game about reaction times, it's a game about planning ahead. You have to plan what you will do around what you believe the enemy will do a couple seconds in advance. Stay at the right distance to do it without getting hit, wait for the enemy to attack first, drop your shield long enough to get stamina, roll in and perform a hit or two, leave enough stamina afterwards to be able to roll away or block with your shield.
If you try to speed things up, you will die over and over and over and over. The game is designed to teach you patience.
If that doesn't appeal to you, Bloodborne would suit you better. All of the exploration and difficulty is done exactly the same way, and the overall feel of the game is extremely similar, but the combat is way faster and way more aggressive. You don't have a shield and you get health back every time you hit an enemy.
