[RM2K3] [HIRING] [PAID/ROYALTY SHARE] SEEKING A MAPPER

Hello.

Does anyone out there really love making rm2k3 maps and would like to earn some money doing so?

I am contemplating making a commercial game in rm2k3 to sell on Steam. It will be an adaptation of a series of novels I am working on (currently drafting book 3) and will eventually indie publish.

The novels are deliberately written to be like a series-length novelisation of an epic JRPG (which doesn't actually exist as a game): they have an ensemble cast, dark lord villain, airships, elemental jewels and magic, limit breaks, coop attacks, dungeons, chocobos (spelled 'cochobos' for copyright reasons), a fighting tournament, etc. When I write them, I think to myself 'What would happen next if this were a game?' and then I write that.

One of the reasons I started writing them was because I realised that it was just so much work to make an epic rpg as one person, so I decided to write a novelised one instead.

The trouble is, I've realised I would still kinda like to at least try to make them as a game as well...

But I need help. I really suck at mapping, and I don't have enough time or expertise to make everything myself.

Hence, this offer.

This project won't be done quickly, but if it ever makes it to Steam I would be willing to royalty-share with whoever worked with me on it.

Also, I would be willing to pay upfront as well, say around $1-10 per map, depending on the size of the map e.g. $1 for a small 20x15 bedroom which is partly black space, and $10 for a big town with lots of buildings.

I imagine that making the maps would be pretty straightforward. It would involve getting a list of maps from me, reading a section of the novel to see what the setting is like, and then making the maps. This would be using RTP and Mack and Blue chipsets (/any royalty free non copyrighted chipsets) for reasons of budget and legality.

If you want examples of my rpgmaking work, I have a couple of completed games here on RMN, including The Cerebral Symphony, a 9 hour romp where I tried out some ideas, and Clarent Saga: Chronicles, a novel-with-battles I was hired to write the novel for. If you are interested in this job, the novel series to be adapted is called 'Saga of the Jewels' and the first draft goes up here (because it is highly Final Fantasy adjacent, as you can see above): https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13581482/1/Saga-of-the-Jewels

A slightly more recent draft of it and a podcasted audiobook version of it(!) go up here: https://sagaofthejewels.substack.com/

If interested, please reply here or DM me, in both cases with examples of your mapping work and details of your availability.

Thanks! Look forward to hearing from you!
