Yeah, that was me being a faggot when I was posting instead of sleeping. I meant Kungfu Panda
Oh I see lol ;)
Many games lately for me. Fallout 3, The Orange Box, GTA: IV, Final Fantasy IV, and The World Ends with you. I blew my budget.
I'm thinking about buying Skate 2.
I never bought the first one, but the Skate 2's demo had me hooked.

The World Ends With You earlier today for about 24$, after being pressured by RPGamer telling me over and over how awesome it is.

The last game I bought was Persona 4 and I like it a lot. At the time it was the last one available, so I felt lucky, lucky, lucky. Especially since Persona 3 was hardly anywhere to be found when I was shopping around for it in 07.

Yeah I like it. The only thing that bothers me is that the main character is the kind of guy you see in malls shopping alone at the Hot Topic looking for the latest My Chemical Romance hoodies.

Even luckier: There won't be a P4 rerelease like there was with P3 FES. Good thing you got it now!
I've been hearing only good things about "The World Ends With You" lately. So what's the game like?
What genre is it?
What's the gameplay like?
What are the characters like?
I just wanna know cause I might end up buying it.

Action-RPG sort of... thing. It's hard to describe.
What's the gameplay like?
Every battle is like 30 seconds on acid. When you're not fighting you are shopping and running around reading people's minds.
What are the characters like?
So far pretty archetypical. Angsty main character, spunky girl, tough dude, short effeminate boy, sadistic female villain, but they work well I guess. Character designs are really neato.

The thing about TWEWY that you can't get from simple questions about the genre or the plot is what a novel experience it is. It's set in Shibuya (as in, the real life shopping district), uses real indie music from acts that play the Shibuya area, with monsters based on tattoo designs, and character stat/ability management based on clothes and food. And then there's your magic, which comes from pins which "evolve" over time (in fact, the time between your save and when you load it can provide different types of experience for your pins than other stuff), and from battles and even from your DS "talking" to another DS running TWEWY in "mingle" mode.
In battles you have two characters that you control simultaneously (The computer will control your second character if you don't want to try to invoke schizophrenia in yourself, but it won't do it as well as you could, of course). There's a lot of different settings you can change to throw additional challenges on yourself that will result in better returns from battle, like better item drops or increased experience....things like fighting a bunch of enemies in a row without a chance to heal, or fighting them at higher levels. And about a billion other things that make TWEWY such a fantastic experience.
It's like spitting in the face of people who call jRPGs stale and same-y. But since no one bought it, we're probably not going to see something this daring again, at least from Squenix.
Also, while I don't hate Nomura the way the rest of the RPG community seems to, his designs seem to work better in a modern environment than they do in the Final Fantasy / Kingdom Hearts types of games he usually does.

Ugh. Speaking of FES... I still kind of think that P4 came out too early. I mean, I had just bought P3 last year...only to buy FES 6 months later...only to buy P4 6 months after that. I didn't get anywhere close to finishing FES, and now I don't know if I want to play it again.
I'm a slow gamer. :(
Baroque for $20, Siren for $25 and Unlimited Saga for $4. The former two I've been wanting to play for a while and the latter I was just curious about and it was cheap.
It was quite a few months ago now, but I'll always remember buying Grandia on the PS1 for £3.50 at GameStation. It was pre-owned but still in brillant condition! I still have the price sticker on the case xD. Bargin!
...barely played it though.
The lastest game I brought was Brawl back in June/ July. I have barely any games =P

If the characters in The World Ends With You initially appear to be JRPG stereotypes, it's because when Neku begins the game, he assumes that everyone else in the world but himself have about that much depth. Somewhere around Episode 5 or 6 the characters become a lot more interesting.
It's funny that although the game's underlying structure is unabashedly a traditional JRPG, it manages to actually feel relevant in a way that games like Dragon Quest VIII and Chrono Trigger don't. Anyway this is probably the best thing to come out of Square-Enix in ages and you should probably play it if you haven't already.
I haven't bought the game yet, but I will buy it for what ever price it's being sold at! Seriously!
What game am I talking about? lolResident Eval Phive of course!11

author=Orig link=topic=2773.msg60049#msg60049 date=1233544218I've never played TWEWY, so I can't judge the game itself, but I will say that the character designs look pretty terrible.
Character designs are really neato.
Regardless, I might have to give it a try. As long as it's fun, I don't really care if I'm playing as an angsty tweenage fashion victim or not.
