With Bush, nine months in we had a huge disaster and everything went downhill from there for him.
A few folks think that Obama is going to be assassinated before the end of this year.
Me, personally, think we're going to see something with the public that hasn't been seen in a long time.
Optimism.
So how about you? What are your thoughts/concerns?

The US will probably take 5 years to recover, so I bet Obama will pay for that at the next election.
The assassination thing isn't really likely. Just as likely as it was with Bush. Being the US president is a tough job and all. Anyone who demands people believe that Obama will be assassinated are race-peddlers usually.
Agree with Kentona. Regardless of Obama's actions, the US will be in turmoil for much longer than his first term. The conservative base of the republican party is reforming and regrouping, and starting to try and gain influence over its liberal members, so expect heavy resistance in 2012. At some point, Obama will stop being the Media's darling, and he will be unfairly ostracized for everything that's wrong with the world.

plus you have to think of previous presidents as well.
Well don't worry so much. Chances are Obama will not be walking around at night in the wilderness of the deep south by himself. Secret service is a handy thing. And common sense helps too.

Honestly, the hard part isn't killing someone; it's getting away with it. Granted, it's a hell of a lot harder to shoot the President than anyone else, but still, it's not as if they're going to be carting him around in the Popemobile all the time.

I'm personally not racist myself, but you'd be surprised at the length a white-supremacist will go to make sure he doesn't live in a country run by a black president.
I pretty much know this because a friend of mine is a neo-nazi (I think. Though I don't think he's ever come out and plainly said "I am a neo-nazi). There were subtle hints.

Hasn't Obama already had an attempt on his life? I may be wrong, but I seem to remember hearing about this.

If he does get assassinated it would be bad for the republican party. They would lose all trust at that point because everyone would think that the racist that kills him is a republican as well. Thus there would be no chance in 2012 for the republican party to win.
I mean think about the media and the headlines.
"First black president killed by a racist republican!"
"New research shows that being a republican can subject you to racism and possibly make those who are weak willed racists themselves!"
"Racism has caused a great tragedy. I hope people can rise above this crude and narrow minded view."
In a nutshell those three sentences say this to the common reader.
Republicans are racist. Racists are stupid. Vote democrat or you will be putting in a stupid person to lead you.
Trust me no one at this point wants anything to happen to that man. I wouldn't be surprised if the republican party told their voters to have faith in him for fear of this very event.
Although I am happy that we might see more non white presidents later on. I think that this opens a new door in fighting racism.
