RPGS... YOU'VE BEATEN

Posts

Nothing too fancy, just list all the RPGS you've played 'till the end. Ya know, those games you actually have beaten. And for extra you can add in how many times you've beaten it, games you played far into but didn't beat, and any additional comments on the game experience.

Games I Have Beaten:

Final Fantasy 4 (2 times)
Final Fantasy 5 (1 time) <-- Plan on beating this again sometime.
Final Fantasy 6 (2 times)
Final Fantasy 7 (4-6 times)
Final Fantasy 8 (1 time) <-- I'm on disc 3 currently. Lost motivation.
Final Fantasy 9 (2 times)
Final Fantasy Tactics (1 time)
Final Mystic Quest (atleast 2 times)
Chrono Trigger (2 times) <-- About to be three.
Chrono Cross (1 time) <-- About to be two
Super Mario RPG (1 time)
Pokemon Blue (2 times...at least)
Pokemon Yellow (1 time)
Pokemon Silver (1 time)

Game I Haven't Beaten:

Xenogears - I've tried many times, but I always lose interest and quit midway. One time I got to this long tower dungeon and the platformer elements frustrated me to no end so I quit.

Earthbound - I'm at the 7th sanctuary. Lost motivation, but I'd like to finish at some time.

Final Fantasy 12 - I'm stuck at this one part. I didn't have a PS2 for a whole semester of college as well, so this prevented me from playing.

Final Fantasy - I think I beat the first boss. But I got bored at quit.

Secret of Mana - Started to play it once but got bored.

Now go!
I feel like I ought to object to this thread, probably because it's just an excuse to brag, but I'm too tired and bored to care right now.

Does this include RPG *hybrids*? We could be here all day if we count Action RPGs. Do TACTICAL RPGs count? What about any given game that uses RPG elements? RPG elements are in freaking EVERYTHING. Even our FPS games!

Assuming we only count the traditional RPGs, more conventional action-RPGs, and Strategy RPGs, and exclude all indie games, and some of the more off the wall nonsense, my list would look like this. Sorted in no particular order

I'm going to exclude Zelda games since don't think they qualify (Yet I will count Actraiser! What topsy turvy logic!)

RPGs I have completed:

Suikoden (Did not excite me enough to bother with sequals. Gremio was awesome, though.)
Rhapsody: A musical Adventure (C'MON C'MON C'MON!!! GOTTA GET ME SOME O'DAT BBQ!!)
Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete
Lunar: Eternal Blue
Legend of Legaia (Stupid hard, but I have this weird affection for the game. I liked the atmosphere.)
Legend of Mana (Pretty!)
Final Fantasy 1 (NES)
Dragon Warrior 1 (Way better than FF1)
Final Fantasy 2 (Origins version)
Final Fantasy IV (Easy-type SNES version)
Final Fantasy V (FF Chronicles version)
Final Fantasy VI (SNES, chronicles)
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy IX (Personal favorite because I'm a cutscene whore.)
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy X-2
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
Brave Fencer Musashi (Campy fun)
Threads of Fate (Ditto)
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Chrono Cross
Kingdom Hearts (Meh)
Arc the Lad Collection
Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast version)
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
Disgaea 2
Makai Kingdoms
Ogre Battle 64
Paper Mario
Super Mario RPG
Earthbound
Secret of Mana
Soul Blazer (Does this count?)
Illusion of Gaia (Does this count?)
Secret of Evermore
Pokemon Blue
Phantasy Star Online (dreamcast)
Actraiser (Does this count?)
Dragon Warrior 7 (Not worth the effort)
Baldur's Gate (Saverok is a seriously cheap)
Fallout
Fallout 2 (Vault City prevails, citizen.)
Darkstone (Not worth the effort)
Xenogears (Not worth the effort)
Odin sphere
Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door

RPGs I have but haven't completed:

La Pucelle Tactics (How am I supposed to SNEAK PAST the shroom dragons if they're blocking the freakin' exits?)
Anachronox
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Dragon Warrior 3 (Gameboy color)
Baldur's Gate 2
Pokemon Crystal
Pokemon Silver
Alundra
Knights of the Old Republic

I play video games some times.
My list is pathetically short. I don't finish RPGs as often as I should. It probably has something to do with me renting my games growing up. The ones I've beaten tend to be ones I've owned.

Dragon Warrior (2 or 3 times)
Dragon Warrior III
Dragon Warrior IV (2 times)
Final Fantasy VI (6 times)
Chrono Trigger (5 or 6 times)
Secret of Mana (2 times)
Baldur's Gate
Diablo
Diablo II
LOZ: Orcarina of Time (2 times)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2 times)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II (5 times)

Games I've played, haven't beaten:
Dragon Warrior II
Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy VII
Secret of Evermore
Baldur's Gate II
Septerra Core
Morrowind
..and few others.
Pokemon: Blue
Pokemon: Red
Pokemon: Gold
Pokemon: Emerald
Paper Mario
Paper Mario 2
Grandia II

Pretty sure that's it.
Suikoden 1,2,3,5
Final Fantasy 6,7,8,9,10
Atelier Iris
Artonelico
Breath Of Fire 2,3,4
Digital Devil Saga
Disgaea 2
Tales Of Destiny
Star Ocean 2,3
Xenosaga 3

Still many more i have forget, most of this game finished in one month or week, except
Xenogear
Starscream
Conquest is made from the ashes of one's enemies.

RPGs I Have Beaten:

Enchanted Arms
Final Fantasy I: Dawn of Souls (GBA)
Final Fantasy II (US)
Final Fantasy III (US)
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy Tactics
Jade Empire
Kartia
Shining Force
Shining Force II
Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic
Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic II
Suikoden

If you count stuff like Beyond Oasis or The Legend of Zelda, I beat Link to the Past. :D

RPGs I Haven't Beaten:

Final Fantasy V - I've started it up a few times and really like. No idea why I quit.
Final Fantasy VIII - Currently have 40 or so hours logged on it. One day I will finish it!
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance - I will finish this one day just because Magneto is awesome.
Morrowind - This game was entirely open. I loved it! It was just too open.
Oblivion - See above.
Suikoden 2 - I've tried playing twice and always quit when I get my base going. :(
Vagrant Story - Awesome game, one of my favorites. Still haven't beaten it.

Those are the ones I put any sort of time in to anyways. I still have barely touched any of the Mana games (though I owned Legend of Mana), Final Fantasy IX, either Fallout games (which I own), Xenogears, Suikoden III-V and Tactics (which I own), or X-Men Legends (which I also own).

I think a major reason for me not finishing too many RPGs is because I like to do everything, EVERYTHING I can my first playthrough without much help. Which means I like wandering around and talking to NPCs instead of getting down to business. This makes the games even longer, and takes some of the fun factor away. I can't help it though, I'm obsessive compulsive is this genre.

I have that same problem. Also, I tend to get to the end of the game and never want to fight the final boss until I master everything. Get all the ultimate equipment/skills/magics/flying golden chocobos. Halfway through, I'm so burnt out I just quit.

Games I haven't beaten:
Final Fantasy III (I got near the last boss, but I missed the Saga and Ninja classes somehow. Also, I only played this game to rip battle animations/chipsets from, not because I liked it.)
Final Fantasy I Dawn of souls (I got up to the last boss, but he murdered me)
Final Fantasy II (I got killed by some overworld enemies near the start, so I just gave up)
Grandia (Working on it, I've past the Surt Ruins)
Xenosaga (I own it but haven't played it yet)
Final Fantasy X-2 (Almost into LeBlanc's headquarters)
Oblivion (Still near the start, and it's going to take awhile)
Okay let's see... there's no way I'll be able to remember every RPG I've ever beaten, but I'll do my best.

  • Final Fantasy (NES version, PSX version and GBA version each multiple times, including many solo games and other "challenge" runs)
  • Final Fantasy 2 (GBA version only, this game sucks
  • Final Fantasy 3 (emulated the NES version but the DS one is better
  • Final Fantasy 4 (every version imaginable more times than I can count, including "solo Cecil" and several lowball games... and I've still never once seen a freaking group of PinkPuffs without using an Alarm)
  • Final Fantasy 5 (emulated and on PSX... only partway through the GBA version though)
  • Final Fanatsy 6 (many many times, including extreme lowball games and Celes/Setzer/Edgar... only partway through the GBA version)
  • Final Fantasy 7 (a couple times)
  • Final Fantasy 8 (three times... want to do it again this year)
  • Final Fantasy 9 (twice... want to go back and do the 12-hour challenge thing)
  • Final Fantasy 10 (played to the end then lost my save... replayed it after buying my own PS2, including 30+ hours of Blitzball and that goddamn lightning strike "game")
  • Final Fantasy 10-2 (twice, including one full 100% game)
  • Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest (a few times)
  • Final Fantasy Tactics
  • Final Fantasy Legend 2
  • Dragon Warrior (NES only)
  • Dragon Warrior 2 (NES only, and very recently)
  • Dragon Warrior 4 (NES and Japanese PSX version... best game in the series)
  • Chrono Trigger (at least a dozen times)
  • Chrono Cross (three times, enough to get all 44 characters on one save)
  • Suikoden (tons of times)
  • Suikoden 2 (a bunch of times, including twice with full completion of the Clive subquest)
  • Suikoden 3 (just once)
  • Suikoden 4 (twice)
  • Super Mario RPG (just once... tried to replay it but didn't like it after having played Paper Mario)
  • Paper Mario (twice)
  • Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (THIS IS THE BEST RPG FROM LAST GENERATION)
  • Super Paper Mario
  • Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
  • Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
  • Breath of Fire
  • Breath of Fire 2
  • Breath of Fire 3
  • Breath of Fire 4
  • Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter (twice through, not including restarts)
  • Xenogears (unfortunately)
  • Star Ocean 2 (twice)
  • Legend of Legaia
  • Legend of Legaia 2
  • Shadow Madness (better than Xenogears!)
  • Parasite Eve (a dozen times at least, including a few Chrysler Building finishes)
  • Parasite Eve 2 (is this even an RPG?)
  • Vagrant Story
  • Golden Sun 1 + 2 (I count this as two halves of the same game)
  • Mega Man X: Command Mission
  • Shadow Hearts 2
  • Kingdom Hearts (this isn't an RPG so much as just a flaming ball of epic suck)
  • EarthBound
  • Zelda (are we counting Zelda as an RPG? Well okay.)
  • Zelda 2
  • Zelda: Link to the Past (many times, including a recent no-deaths run
  • Zelda: Link's Awakening (the best one because it has a mermaid)
  • Zelda: Ocarina of Time (twice: once for N64 and once on the Master Quest version for GCN)
  • Zelda: Majora's Mask (once each on N64 and GCN)
  • Zelda: Wind Waker
  • Secret of Mana (since we're counting Zelda...)
  • Legend of Mana
  • Secret of Evermore (many times; it's better than Mana guys for real)
  • SoulBlazer
  • Illusion of Gaia
  • ActRaiser (counting it because I can)
  • Brave Fencer Musashi (got this for Christmas, my friend was like "Here I got you the FF8 demo, it comes with some game)
  • Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (we're counting other action games, why not this?)
  • Castlevania: Circle of the Moon
  • Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
  • Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
  • Faxanadu (okay, I'll stop listing these types of games now =P)
  • Wild ARMs (took forever because it sucks)
  • Grandia (sucked)
  • Planescape: Torment (several times, including a very recent playthrough on GameTap)
  • SaGa Frontier (most of the characters anyway)
  • Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure (more times than I should probably admit)
  • Morrowind (inasmuch as you can ever "finish" this game)
  • Arcana (and I have the graph paper maps to prove it!)
  • Ultima: Exodus (NES version)
  • Ultima: Quest of the Avatar (NES version)

I know I'm probably missing like a dozen games, but I'm impressed I could recall what I did.

RPGs on my current playlist;

  • Final Fantasy 12
  • Dragon Quest 8
  • Suikoden 5
  • Zelda: Twilight Princess
  • Phantasy Star 4 (on GameTap... played it years ago but never finished)
  • Etrian Odyssey
  • Oblivion

How do you people remember all of these games? :-\

I, for one, welcome Brickroad as a our new RPG playing overlord.

Hmm, not too much I guess...

Final Fantasy 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, MQ
Chrono Trigger
Rudra No Hihou
Secret of Mana
Soul Blazer
Might and Magic 6, 7, 8
Suikoden 1, 2
Diablo 1, 2
Fallout 1, 2
Planescape Torment

...and some others that I can't remember at the moment.

eNSO, you didn't play through FF Legends or Riveria? I figured those sorts of games are what inspired Burning Grail's engine.

Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure (more times than I should probably admit)

Dude. Rhapsody is a pretty awesome. It's low stress, wacky, and lacks the pretentiousness that makes most RPGs annoying. The production values are a little shoddy, but its simplistic, to the point design made it more fun than burdensome. The fact that the characters burst into song every so often is kind of irritating, though. (Although Evil Queen was a nice ditty.)

I love Rhapsody so much for all those exact reasons. It was a much better Disney RPG than Keyblade Asshole and the Camera that Wouldn't Stay Put.

Ah, crap, I forgot to mention Riviera. I completed this game two times and it really had a great impact on TBG. I'm not sure why you mentioned FF Legends though. I remember trying those on my GB emulator but didn't get too far.
