GTA III/IV/San Vice City

Can I ask why? I actually like that series.
I don't like the GTA games that much.
I hate Final Fantasy. There, I said it. Oh, and I'm not very fond of Chrono Trigger either.

Castlevania 1, and Castlevania 3.

Woah FD, you like read my mind. I thought CV1 was okay since it didn't have so many goddamn stairs like CV3 though.
The games that I don't like, aren't good. *feels left out* *exits*

Shouldn't this topic be named "flame bait"?
I heard Planescape Torment had a great story, but its engine is so dated that I couldn't really enjoy it.

On this note, I never really got into Baldur's Gate. Not just the engine but a lot of the interface feels (rightfully so) like the predecessor to other D&D RPGs (like NWN) and figuring out how to do simple stuff in NWN is a pain to figure out in BG

Plus its AD&D which I can't stand at all.

What's there to dislike about Chrono Trigger?
Possible spoilers etc:

The game is way too easy, not just because you basically breeze through the game never having to level up, but because all of the sidequests and shit are pretty much thrown directly at you so that you don't need to look around, or explore, or prod the game or otherwise stimulate your brain at all to discover any of the non-linearity in the game. I super especially hate how much they gave away the already kind of obvious quest with that stone that needed to be exposed to the sun for like 65002000 years (I forget most of the details but I know that it was horribly given away), where it's like "hmm... this needs to be exposed to something really hot... and really big... like THE SUN... and it needs to be done for a long time... like maybe SIXTY FIVE MILLION YEARS... or something".

the disappointment of Chrono Trigger is compounded by the fact that the time-travel aspect of the game (aka pretty much the whole game) was done terribly - almost nothing you do has that much of a "lasting" effect on the future, if I remember correctly even opening chests in the year 600 doesn't ruin them for the year 1000 - even if I'm wrong about that, my point is that there aren't enough consequences in the future for the things you do while you're in the past.

Don't get me wrong, some parts of the game are done very well - the Dark Age (12000 BC) world was very memorable for me and the game has a lot of very likable characters (it's not exactly difficult coming up with "stereotypical prehistoric character", "stereotypical future character", "stereotypical middle ages character", etc but whatever, that's irrelevant)

Out of curiosity, what 8/16-bit era RPGs do you like?
FF6. It has a lot of technical merits and I can see liking the characters but on the enjoyment index it ranks well below average for me.

Anything made by Nippon Ichi Software, honestly I can see why people love Disgaea and Witch's Tale and Phantom Brave... But I honestly can't sit through more then five minutes of any of they're games. When I have some girl friends who just swear by it, and some of the guys on this site. (Tonfa) Would fully defend any of these games for hours when I simply said I didn't enjoy them.
What is this thread supposed to cover? games that I think are shit and hate intesively? Just how great do I think those games are then?

Games that are popular, you can understand why they are liked and you acknowledge they are actually decent games, but you personally don't like them for whatever strange reason.
I don't play enough games that I know I will dislike despite being great games.

And when I actually get around to playing the games I knew I'd dislike I end up liking them (GTA III+ is a prime example of this).

Ah now I remember.

The Sims.

I can see the glory and awesomeness that is the Sims but I just don't want to play it (though I have tried it). But it's a game filled with quality that I will defend when people bash it. But it is not for me.

That's sort of how I interpreted the topic. Games I will defend despite not liking them.
FF10. I personally thought it got incredibly lame and terrible mid-way through, but it seems to be a really popular entry into the series, so it's probably just me.

The thing for me for GTA games is that I get far too distracted putzing around, stealing cars and shooting things up to progress the story. Eventually I get bored of that so try out the "story mode", realize that it wasn't as fun as just putzing around was (at least initially) and give it up, never to play it again.

...but I left out GTA 1 and 2 from this list because I had way more fun putzing around in a top-down 2D format than the 3D one.
