DOES ANYONE ELSE THINK FACEBOOK FEEDS, POLLS, AND QUIZZES ARE THE DOWNFALL OF CIVILIZATION?

I'm exaggerating about the downfall of civilization.

But seriously, they suck. Every 5 seconds: "I just pooped!" Then 17 people who "like this" and 7 comments congratulating them.

Then there are the quizzes. "Can you name this celebrity's buttcrack?" "What flavor of ice cream are you?" What day of the week are you?" Here's my question. "How pathetic is your life that you have time to answer these quizzes all day?"

Then there are the polls. A mini-political arena. "Do you think (cultural icon x) is an asshole?" <-- Let me translate this poll for you. "Do you think everyone who disagrees with your world view is automatically an asshole?" answer is apparently yes for everyone.

Yeah so... yeah.

Civilzation downfalled a long time ago. You were too busy ranting on a forum to notice.
That's why Darwin evolved Ignore buttons.
microblogging rules okay
I definitely agree that it can trivialize human interaction, almost on a disgusting level. It's also pretty depersonalizing, because sometimes it doesn't leave a lot to talk about when you actually meet up with the person. "Pssh, I've seen your newsfeed already!"

But I dunno, I mean, I think there are worse things in the world than FACEBOOK and TWITTER UPDATES.

Yeah there are worse things in the world than a shotgun blast to the face too, but it doesn't mean I can't make poignant comments on a forum about it.

In a cosmic sense, Facebook is inconsequential.

geodude can I borrow that iron image for a sec
i literally have no idea what you are talking about
it's just another social site. it's sort of a given there'll be people posting stuff like that.
i'm down with skipping over the boring feeds and declining the teacups 4ever group ...or...joining...whatever mood really.

i'm having deja vu...
Social networking seems to bring out the best in people: www.tweetingtoohard.com
"So and so just sent you a martini. Send one back by giving this application permission to invade your account and spam your friends."
I get those all the time. Then I spam their wall with pictures of Emma Watson. Well that happened one time and the guy is a major Harry Potter buff but still.

(btw Kindredz we're makerscore twins!!!)
I have no problems with that. A few of my friends (who aren't really friends) do that quiz stuff, but as kentona said, it's really easy to ignore. Just click a few buttons and you never have to see it again.

Also, I disagree with that comic, but I can't put it into words that make sense. While disagreeing with it, I also love it to pieces and want to show it to the world, because it's awesome. Awesomely disagreeable.
I hate Twitter.

But I'm addicted to Facebook. They're totally different, I promise.

I really don't like those sites but I guess they aren't that bad. Besides, we have threads on this site that suit our myspace needs.
