SCREENSHOT DRAMA-RAMA!
Posts
This is the new screenshot topic! If you still feel the need to post screenshots in a thread, this is the place to do so. However, you really ought to be posting your screens in your game page. We need a new "Images" tab at the top of the site that shows the latest images posted (much like the Games and Reviews and Blogs all show the latest content for that.)
Anywho, try to keep the drama to a minimum.

I want notes about magic books! Also, I know you explained this before but the charset character's lack of a solid outline is kind of jarring.
Looks awesome though regardless!

I was thinking about this and basically I figure that the screenshot thread has two main advantages; one, it serves as a good 'beta testing ground' to receive critique and opinions on a screenshot before one may decide to put their screenshot on their gamepage. I like to have the best screens I can representing my game, and the screenshot thread allows me to get critique to refine those screens before I may or may not decide to put them on my gamepage. Two, it allows people to give and receive critique along with other people's screens in succession, and in relation to others screens.
The Screenshot Topic still has a place in the post gamepage world.
I didn't get productive critique on my project all I got was
"It sucks"
"Your title screen is horrible"
"Your using sprites from Luminous Arc!"
Not once did I hear anything that could remotely help me......nothing.
All they did was try to tell me why my game was bad and that they weren't going to play it.
I thought this site was about "constructive critism." None of this was shown......
I found this quite ridiculous.
The only person that helped me a bit was Nessiah, he/she told me how to post better quality screens.
I'm in the Art institute of Miami and i've let almost every friend, classmate, and random person that looked interested in my game play it and not once did I hear anything about my title screen being bad.
All I ask for is the respect to get a decent helpful word.
Not this:
NIGHTBLADE: These screens are terrible and everybody knows why.
These immature comments do not help me at all.
Just try t help me, don't try to hate on me or i'll say the following words......GET AWAY FROM MEH!!!

Tardis gave you constructive criticism. But enough of this, stop making a scene and grow up.

Actually, here's one thing I can say that might guide you in the right spot somewhat.
The reason why this is is because it's very likely that none of those friends, classmates, and random people that you've shown you game to know of the standard for games made by this community. It's easy to say 'Wow, this looks great!' if you have nothing to compare it to. However, us in the community have been making and playing games like yours for years, and we have seen some really great stuff. Stuff that frankly, blows your game out of the water. Here's some examples of some really great shit.

I can easily say that these games look leagues better than yours in almost every way for different reasons.

You haven't played my game yet and you tell me these games blow my game out of the water........
I frankly don't care about any of those games you posted right there.
Tell me those words once you've had time to play my game.
I do love ascendence though, it's a well made game and it deserves praise.
Stop double posting.
The reason why people bitched at you was your incessant spam, not because of your godawful screenshots.

Yes, I am basing my opinion of your game from looks, because true, I haven't played it yet. But here's the kicker; unless your game LOOKS good, or even decent, or even well put together, nobody is going to play it. Nobody here is going to play your game because it doesn't LOOK good. It doesn't look very well graphically, it doesn't look put together, it doesn't look like the gameplay is organized, etc etc. People would rather spend their time playing games such as the ones I outlined above and pretty much only play your game to give it a shit review and therefore you'll only feel more jaded.
You ask for advice and criticism, and I gave it to you. "Here are some great examples of some games in this community. See if you can learn anything!" And you go "YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED MY GAME YET I DON'T CARE ABOUT ANY OF THOSE". Why should I play your game? Why should anyone play your game?

I'm sure you could have become a valued member of the community if you took what everyone said with a grain of salt.
Ness, I'm loving your art style. The orange is so nice on the eyes.
Anyways, getting back on topic here...
This is definitely better than the new look. Takes up less of the screen, and even the text looks nicer & is
easier to read. I'd keep it like this.
EDIT: I'd cut down the size of that room too, it's WAY too big.
